I find the rate increases at 4.5% to 6.5% to be excessive copared to other annual cost increases. This is especially true in light of the recent econoic distress that any Los Angeles residents find theselves. Most of us have not had cost of living increases in the last three years. In fact, any of us have had to take pay cuts just to keep the jobs we do have. While there are signs that the econoy is iproving, this has yet to flow to the workers. The 21 consuer price index was 1.5% and the 29 CPI was 2.7%. The consuer price index for 211 was at 3%. Therefore, it would see that..., soething in the 2.7% to 3.2% would be ore reasonable. I can not l!!!derstarf!, the need for the City to propose increases in the range of 6.5%. This is re c_ than the consuer can absorb. 3 U1

You are raising prices faster than we will ever have raises in our incoe to pay for this. You are living way beyond our eans. Ten years of raises every year, when did we as citizens, ever receive this kind of increase in wages or retireent. Never. You are in soe kind of ind set that what ever you want, the people can afford. These days, your very, wrong. There will be any other increases in the next 1 years. Gasoline, Food, Housing, other utilities besides just DWP. Everybody with the ability to charge for soething will be raising prices as the value of our oney shrinks every tie the governent goes to print ore oney. Have Mercy for God's sake on us with fixed incoe. Why should anyone work hard all their life only to be squeezed out in the end. Many failies now rely on retired parents to help the through. What's going to happen when you crush the retired parents too. Can you at least have soe kind of exeption or lesser fees for those who are retired? Daniel Dunkin (818)
