5 1. QUALITY COMPLIANCE We make independently verified quality. All the Labcon products in this catalog are supplied by an ISO 9001:2008 registered manufacturing facility. Every aspect of these products are quality proven from design to delivery before independent auditors every six months. The manufacturing facility is registered by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to manufacture medical devices. U.S. Pharmacoepia Methods and Guidelines (U.S.P. Class VI) are used if there is an applicable standard. We use more expensive medical grade resins instead of the more common commodity grade used in most pipet tips. We then pre-test to check for contaminating clarifying agents or molding additives before we approve them for use in the products we supply you. The plastic resins we use are compliant with FDA CFR Title , , and ISO to ensure that they are non cytotoxic and are not harmful to cells or tissue samples. The resins used for these products have been tested for the prescence of trace heavy metals and have been found to contain less than a detectable level of 1 part per million. Products shown in this catalog as Metal Free have been tested and are certified to contain less than 1PPB of common extractable metals. A separate certificate is available for these items. Spin rates for tubes are expressed as RCF (Relative Centrifugal Force). RCF is calculated for any rotor by using the formula: RCF=(11.17 x 10-7 ) RN2 where R=Radius in mm from centrifuge spindle to bottom of tube and N=Speed of spindle in RPM. Always run a trial to establish the RCF for the tube you intend to use. Items listed as autoclavable can be autoclaved at 122 ºC for a maximum of 20 minutes at 15 P.S.I. Remember to back-off the caps of tubes to prevent collapse when autoclaving. A steam cycle should be used with the items in this catalog that are listed as autoclavable. Always air dry these items. Avoid using a dry cycle or glassware cycle as deformation can occur to plastics that are heated for extended periods. When freezing samples in tubes remember to provide adequate spacing to allow for even cooling rates. Crowding or inadequate spacing or use of foam or other types of insulated racks that cause uneven cooling, can cause cracking or crazing. Maximum nominal freezing temperatures are shown for specific products. Pipet tip racks are completely molded of recycled plastics. Racks are also coded for local recycling. Because the prescence of nucleases; both RNase and DNase is of great concern we test every production lot of pipet tips, centrifuge tubes, and microtubes where noted inside. Our testing frequency is so great you can be sure these Labcon products are safe and pure. All products noted are tested for the presence of DNA. Every lot of tested product is tested to a detection level of 1pg of Human Genomic DNA. Those products noted are Lot tested for the presence of Adenosine Triphosphate and results show less than X10-12 mg/ìl. Every lot of the items noted in this catalog is tested to guarantee that they are free of protease contamination. This assures that these products can reliably be used in protein and proteomic research. Following the latest U.S.P. methods we check every lot of sterile products for endotoxins before sterilization. This ensures that our extremely clean process is systemically maintained. 5 2
