1 2016 OPERATIONAL POLICIES Conservation Area Rules & Regulations Part Clarke Road, London, Ontario N5V 5B Conservation Area Activities 1. All federal, provincial and municipal laws apply while on UTRCA properties (Fanshawe CA, Pittock CA, Wildwood CA). Contravention of these laws may result in fines and/or eviction. 2. No excessive noise permitted at any time. Quiet hours are from 11:00 pm to 8:00 am. No audio devices, musical instruments, generators, etc. during quiet hours. 3. The Superintendent/Designate may designate certain areas to be radio/audio free. 4. Any alterations, additions or modifications to Conservation Area property is at the discretion of the Superintendent/Designate. 5. Possession or consumption of liquor is permitted on a registered campsite only. Permits & Vehicles 6. Campsite, vehicle permits and swipe cards are not transferable. 7. Permit holders must be at least 18 years of age for both seasonal and nightly camp sites. The permit holder must be the primary occupant of the site. 8. All vehicles must present a valid permit (e.g., swipe card, receipt, day use sticker or AVP). One vehicle permit is included with your campsite. The vehicle permit must not be altered in any way. Improper use will void the permit. The permit owner is responsible for all associated costs for lost, stolen or seized permits. Stickers must be permanently affixed to the vehicle windshield in an area visible to staff. 9. Two vehicles are permitted to park on a registered campsite. Any additional vehicles are to be parked at visitor parking or in an area provided at the discretion of the Superintendent/Designate. All motorized vehicles must be licensed and insured. 10. E bikes are permitted on Conservation Area (CA) roadways only. Use of e bikes is prohibited on any CA trail system. All other power assisted low speed vehicles are not permitted at the discretion of the Superintendent/Designate. 11. All visitors to the campgrounds are to park in designated parking areas. Visitors are admitted from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm daily. Visitors must vacate the property by 11:00 pm nightly. Day use visitors are admitted from dawn until dusk. Campground and day use hours may be restricted at other times at the discretion of the Superintendent/ Designate. Campsite Equipment 12. At no time may there be more than three pieces of sheltered camping equipment on one individual campsite unless approved by the Superintendent/Designate. Only one piece of sheltered equipment can be a tent trailer, house trailer or self propelled camping unit. A storage shed is considered to be a piece of sheltered equipment. 13. All trailers must be professionally manufactured by a trailer manufacturing company for the purpose of camping. All trailers must have permanent wheel carriage. 14. No refrigerators, freezers or indoor rated appliances are permitted unless they are securely contained within a camping unit or storage shed. 15. All wading pools are at the discretion of the Superintendent/ Designate. Hot tubs, outdoor spas and water features are not permitted. 16. Large recreational equipment (e.g., trampolines, personal playground equipment) is not allowed on site without permission from the Superintendent/ Designate. 17. Firewood must be cut to length (max. 18 in.) before entering the Conservation Area. A maximum 32 cu. ft. may be stored and shall be stacked neatly on the campsite. No skids, palettes or construction material are permitted. 18. All sites must be aesthetically pleasing and kept in a neat and clean condition at the discretion of the Superintendent/ Designate. This policy includes trailers, decks, sheds and any other items that may be on site. 19. Removal of items on the site may be requested at any time due to maintenance and/or safety concerns. 20. Items placed in or around garbage/recycling bins or left on vacated campsites become the property of the UTRCA and removal of these items is prohibited.

2 Environment & Conservation 21. Campers will make every effort to conserve energy. When the site is not being used, campers are required to turn off indoor and outdoor lights and air conditioners. 22. Tap water shall be conserved to assist with water supply, lawn watering, vehicle/trailer washing, etc., is not to be excessive and is at the discretion of the Superintendent/ Designate. Further watering restrictions may apply. 23. All sewage must be contained within your camping unit. Valves and related equipment must be well maintained, free of leaks, labelled and easily accessible for sewage disposal. If valves and related equipment are not present, maintained, labelled or easily accessible the trailer will not be pumped. Boats 24. Watercraft permits are not transferrable. All vessels must present a valid permit in the form of a seasons pass or day use receipt. 25. Personal wet docks are not permitted. Boaters must tie off or moor all vessels in designated areas. Wet/dry dock rentals are available at Wildwood CA only. One watercraft is permitted per docking slip. All seasonal permits must be affixed to the hull and visible at all times including when tarped. 26. All docks must be kept clear of obstructions at all times. Wet dock permit holders are not to affix or attach any item or device to the dock or slip without permission of the Superintendent/Designate. 27. No personal watercraft are permitted on the reservoir at any time. NOTE: Provincial Regulations are made under the Conservation Authorities Act and are available on line at

Trailer size is limited to 45 ft long and 12 ft wide (based on manufacturer s specifications). Hitch assembly of seasonal trailers must face the roadway and be accessible at all times. 2. A two foot wide easement must remain clear adjacent to all power and water lines to allow for maintenance. Trailer units, sheds, decks, awnings and all overhead equipment such as antennas and flag poles must be 10 ft away from any overhead power line. Decks/Patio 3. All decks will be aesthetically pleasing, well maintained and must be approved by the Superintendent/Designate. Decks may be constructed using wood, patio stones or carpet. Skids are not an acceptable building material. Deck size is restricted to a maximum of 250 sq ft with a maximum width of 10 ft. The deck cannot exceed the trailer body length and may not protrude past the end of the trailer. 4. Railings and other structures above the deck floor cannot exceed 42 inches. The deck must be removable by hand (sectioned) and affixed at ground level (no cement footings). In addition to the deck area, a maximum of 64 sq ft of patio stones (16 24 in stones) may be placed near the fire pit and shed area. Awnings/Enclosures 5. Awnings attached to the trailer unit must be manufactured. Manufactured gazebos may be used as an alternative to or in combination with manufactured awnings. Awnings must be approved by the Superintendent/Designate and cannot exceed the length of the trailer. 6. Deck enclosures must be manufactured of canvas or vinyl and cannot exceed the length of the awning. Deck enclosures must be approved by the Superintendent/ Designate. 7. One storage shed permitted per site. Maximum size is 288 cu ft (e.g., 6 ft x 8 ft x 6 ft). All sheds and their location must be approved by Superintendent/Designate. Electricity to sheds must be approved by the Superintendent/ Designate with a permit obtained from the Electrical Safety Authority. Wiring will only be permitted if the shed is located directly next to the trailer and the conduit is securely attached to the shed from the trailer receptacle. Excavations are not permitted and components cannot be attached to the electrical pedestal. Extension cords are not permitted as a source wiring to a shed. 8. Barriers, fences, obstructions or excavations in or along the ground relating to a seasonal campsite must not extend past the hitch end of the trailer and must be approved by the Superintendent/Designate. 9. All patio lights not affixed to the camping unit must be located 8 ft above ground level and must be approved by the Superintendent/Designate. Excessive strands of patio lights and flood lights are not permitted. 10. No permanent clotheslines permitted. Portable temporary clotheslines are permitted. 11. One firewood storage box is permitted. The size of the box cannot exceed 32 cu ft (4 ft x 4 ft x 2 ft). Boats 12. All boats and boat trailers are to be parked in the areas provided. Boats are permitted on campsites from Friday to Sunday. Permission to keep a boat/boat trailer on your campsite during times other than those permitted is at the discretion of the Superintendent/Designate. 13. Storage of any utility trailers in the Conservation Areas is prohibited. Site Surrender 14. If a camping unit is sold, the buyer is not entitled to the site. If the current permit holder chooses to relinquish the site, the buyer has first entitlement to take over the site after the receipt of appropriate fees. The primary occupant must be the permit holder. 15. Subletting or renting trailers and/or sites is prohibited. NOTE: Provincial Regulations are made under the Conservation Authorities Act and are available on line at

For seasonal campsite reservations, group bookings and facility rentals, contact the Conservation Area directly. 2. All seasonal campers are permitted to reserve their current campsite for the next camping season. Reservations must be completed by 12:00 pm EST on the last day of the camping season. 3. Reservations will not be accepted if fees are outstanding on the current campsite. 4. If arrangements are not made the site becomes available on a first come, first served basis. 5. Prospective seasonal campers may reserve a site at the end of the season provided the site is designated for seasonal camping and is available. Seasonal Camping Payment 6. Seasonal campsite payment is due in one installment by 8:00 pm Sunday, April 24, Cash, certified cheque, money order, debit, Visa and MasterCard are accepted methods of payment. 7. Non payment of fees will void the permit and all items on the site will be removed at the owner s expense. A site late payment fee of $ per week will be charged on all overdue accounts. Site occupancy is not permitted until fees are paid in full with the exception of opening weekend. Off Season Storage 8. Off season storage may be permitted either on site or in an area provided by the Superintendent/ Designate. Off season storage must be paid for prior to 12:00 pm EST on the last day of the camping season. 9. All storage items must be approved by the Superintendent/Designate by written agreement. The only items that may be stored on site or in a designated area are a trailer, deck and shed/wood box as per the signed winter storage agreement. 10. Any items stored without an agreement will be removed at the owner s expense and disposed of with a minimum $50.00 clean up fee 11. Sites located in high water areas must be cleared of all items and a designated storage area will be provided. Nightly Camping Reservations 12. Nightly reservations can be made via the Conservation Area s website, by phone at ONT CAMP ( ), or in person. Maximum of 6 people, including children, permitted per site. 13. Payment in full by Visa or MasterCard is required at time of booking for all site specific reservations. 14. A non refundable $13.00 reservation fee applies to online and phone reservations. This fee covers administration costs and is in addition to camping fees. 15. Site reservation start dates will be posted on the Conservation Area website annually. 16. Reservations can be made up until 8:00 pm EST on your arrival date. 17. Reservations will be held until 12:00 pm EST of the day following your scheduled arrival date. 18. Once a reservation has been confirmed either by phone or online, changes and cancellations must be made by calling ONT CAMP ( ) or by visiting the Conservation Area website. A booking number will be required when calling. A $15.00 fee applies for each change and a $20.00 fee applies for each cancellation. 19. Changes to reservations are not permitted within 48 hours of the scheduled arrival date. 20. Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date to qualify for a full refund (minus reservation and cancellation fees). Cancellations after 12:00 pm EST 48 hours prior to the scheduled arrival date will forfeit all fees paid. 21. One vehicle permit is included with a campsite. Any additional vehicles must purchase an Additional Vehicle Permit at the time of campsite registration. 22. A daily fee applies for any motorized watercraft. 23. A 3 night minimum reservation that includes a Friday, Saturday and Sunday is required for the following: Victoria Day long weekend (May 20 23), Civic Holiday long weekend (July 29 Aug 1), Labour Day long weekend (Sept 2 5).

6 A 3 night minimum reservation that includes a Friday and Saturday, or a Saturday and Sunday, is required for the following: Canada Day long weekend when July 1st falls on a Fri, Sat, Sun or Mon (July 1 4). A 2 night minimum stay is required on all other weekends from the third Friday in June until the Labour Day weekend (June 17 Sept 2). 24. Refunds will not be issued for shortened stays or for inclement weather. 25. The maximum stay on a non seasonal site is 30 consecutive nights. Campers wishing to extend their stay for longer will be required to relocate to another campsite. 26. Sites are available for reservation subject to the discretion of the Superintendent/Designate. Group Camping Reservations 27. Group reservations may be made by phone via the Conservation Area registration offices or in person. Refunds Note: No refunds will be issued for evictions or due to inclement weather. Day Use 28. No refund is given for day use activities at the discretion of the Superintendent/Designate. Seasonal Camping 29. Please see the Seasonal Camping Refund Policy for further details. 30. If evicted, no refunds will be issued for any permit or fee paid associated with the seasonal site or permit holder. Reduced Admission Fee Note: Reduced fee policies may not be used in conjunction with any other promotion. Charitable Organization Discount 31. Registered charitable organizations are eligible to request a 50% discount on: Regular day use admission, Electric camping sites from Monday to Thursday during April, May, September and October, Non electric sites for the entire camping season, with the exception of long weekends. Camping sites are subject to availability. Requests must be approved by Superintendent/ Designate. 32. Eligible groups must comply with the following: Submit written request with registered charitable number to the Conservation Area, Contact the Conservation Area directly. Stamp Cards 33. Stamp Cards may be issued/stamped for Daily Vehicle admission ($13.00) and/or Motorized Boat admission only. Filled Stamp Cards may be redeemed for a Day Use Season s Pass and/or Watercraft Season s Pass. Partially filled Stamp Cards may be used towards the purchase of a Day Use Season s Pass and/or Watercraft Season s Pass. Stamp Cards may not be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion. The UTRCA is not responsible for lost or stolen Stamp Cards. It is the holder s responsibility to present stamp card upon entry and obtain stamp. Stamps will not be issued retroactively. Stamps Cards are only valid for the current operating season. Season s Pass Discount 34. On August 1 st of each year, the cost of annual vehicle, watercraft and seasonal camper swipe card passes will be reduced by 50%. Special Events 35. A special event must be approved by the Superintendent/Designate. 36. For fundraising events or events that are co sponsored by the UTRCA, a mutual fee agreement may be arranged by the Superintendent/Designate. All operating costs are to be recovered and an administration fee applies. Operating costs may include, but are not limited to, the following: Event management fee Event preparation Capital costs for site servicing incurred specifically for the event Any applicable building rentals Vendor space rental fees All event organizers and volunteers are permitted free entry. 37. A standard licence or Admissions Licence Agreement must be executed. 38. The UTRCA policy with respect to insurance applies (minimum $2,000,000 liability).
