1 CARBUNCLE Start with a square coloured side up Fold and unfold the square in half lengthwise and diagonally along all axes. Fold the lower corner up to touch the vertical middle crease. The fold starts from the opposite corner. Fold the edge back down to the lower folded edge Unfold the model back to a square. (Step 2). Fold the outer edge in to the crease made previously. Fold and unfold the outer edge aligned with the crease. Then unfold back to a square.

2 7 8 9 Fold and unfold the upper and lower edges in along the points where the creases intersect. This divides the paper into three parts. Fold the upper edge down. Fold the edge up diagonally and fold the right side in Fold the corner up, separate the layers and squash the point flat. Fold and unfold the outer folded edges in Fold the upper layer up and fold the edge of the lower section out along the creases made previously Fold the corner back over. Fold the lower edge up and reverse fold the corner inside. Fold the corner up, separate the layers and squash it flat Fold and unfold the upper corners in diagonally. Fold the point over and fold the sides in. This will make a bird base shape. Fold the next layer over causing the corners in the layer beneath to fold in.

3 Fold the corners back. Fold out the inner edges to the adjacent crease and open the point. Fold and unfold the upper layer of the corners Fold over the upper layer of the corners opening out the paper. Fold the corners behind and beneath the upper layer. Fold and unfold the model diagonally along both axes Turn the model over, left to right. Fold the corner over. Fold and unfold the edges in to the middle Fold and unfold the edges in to the middle. Fold and unfold the outer corners in along the points where the creases intersect. Fold the corner in and re fold the creases made previously.

4 Fold the sides of the point together and fold it over. Fold the corner over, the point should touch the outer edge. Fold the tip of the folded corner behind (30-33) Repeat steps 30 to 33 on the other corner. Turn the model over, left to right. Fold the upper corner behind and into the model Fold the lower section up, folding the model in half. Fold the upper section back by folding the middle section in half. Fold and unfold the outer edges in to the middle Fold the edges of the lower section in and fold the upper section in diagonally on both sides. Turn the model over, left to right. Fold the point in.

5 (42-43) Fold the point back again. Repeat steps 42 to 42 on the other point. Fold the lower section up and back again Fold the upper section in together. At the same time fold the model in half lengthwise. The next step shows a side view. Hold the model where indicated and slide the tail up. Hold the front section and slide the rear section inside making a crimp fold Fold the lower edges of the body in front and behind. Then Slide the head out slightly and the ears back. Fold up the upper edge of the ear to open it. Some of this fold is beneath the head. Repeat behind. Fold out the paper trapped inside the tail Curl the rear three points to shape the tail. Pinch the legs and the ears to shape the model. Complete.
