2 M SERIES SHELTER Widest of the man-portable Deployable Rapid Assembly Shelters (DRASH), the DRASH M Series Shelter is a mobile, lightweight, rugged, reliable and user-friendly soft-walled shelter solution to establishing life support, command and control or medical soft walled structures in any environment. All M Series Shelters provide an interior width of 18 feet that can be lengthened to increase an operating area by removing the shelters end sections and adding additional center sections. M Series Shelters come in three basic models in varying lengths. M SERIES SHELTER MODELS The MX Shelter provides 442 square feet (41 ) of usable interior space, is comprised of one center section that measures 17 feet (5.2 meters) long, and includes two end sections that can be removed to add to the shelter length. The MX5 Shelter is slightly larger than the MX, providing 519 square feet (48.2 square meters) of usable interior space. It is comprised of one center section that measures feet (6.4 meters) long, and includes two removable end sections. Largest of the three, the M Shelter provides 748 square feet (69.5 square meters) of usable interior space. The shelter is comprised of two center sections, which measure a total of 34 feet (10.4 meters) long. It also includes two removable end sections. USER FRIENDLY, TRANSPORTABLE AND RUGGED All M shelters can be easily set up within minutes of arriving at location using four to six people and can be taken down just as quickly. These shelters do not require any assembly in the field nor do they require any special equipment for either erecting or striking. Simply offload and position, lift and spread, push up, attach end caps and secure. M Series Shelters pack down to less than 2 percent of total size for easy transport. Additionally, M Series Shelters can be integrated with DRASH Utility Shelter Transporter (UST) Trailers (see separate Trailer insert sheet) to allow for a mobile lighting and environmental control power package that ensures optimum operations even in extreme weather conditions. M Series Shelters have undergone extensive testing at the Army s Aberdeen Test Center and include rugged, reliable materials to hold up even under the toughest conditions. The shelters covers are manufactured from XYTEX, a specially coated polyester fabric that is fire retardant, mildew resistant and water repellent and is also resistant to high abrasion and ultra violet rays. The cover fabrics also include blackout in the visual and near infrared spectrum. An average of one foot (30 cm) of air space between the exterior and the interior covers provide thermal insulation at an R- Value of 2.1. Shelter frames are made from Titanite, an aerospace composite with superior structural properties. Tests conducted by an independent, university engineering laboratory document that Titanite is 270% stronger than aluminum for the same diameter and cross sectional area. INCLUDED COMPONENTS All M Series Shelters include as part of the purchase price center sections, end caps, windows, doors, plenum, ground cover, floor, a steel stake pin set and repair kit.
