I ll give you a Clue, it s the Crawford County 4-H Camp Team inviting you to join us in a weekend of Perfection! We know that you will have more fun at Kelleys Island 4-H Camp than a Barrel of Monkeys! If it s not too much Trouble check out the information below and come join us for The Game of Camp at Kelleys Island You won t be Sorry you came! The Game of Camp will be Friday, June 17 th through Monday, June 20 th. The 2016 Camp Counselors & Adult Staff have been working very hard to make this year s camp the best yet! How much fun is camp? Thinking about camp but just not sure? Check out the photo page on our website crawford.osu.edu or our Facebook page Crawford County 4-H to see all the fun you could be missing out on. 4-H Camp offers youth the opportunity to develop independence, leadership skills, citizenship awareness, responsibility, and self-esteem in a group living situation away from home. Trained teen counselors have been working since January to plan a variety of activities for each camper such as: swimming, nature, water activities, crafts, recreation, campfires, and much more. The counselors and adult staff have been planning great programs and special events to keep you busy from morning til night! Campers will also spend the weekend with their friends and make many new friends from all around the county! Special Events at Camp Outposting Sleep outside on the beaches of Kelleys Island and experience the great outdoors on an overnight camping experience. Only available to youth in grades six through eight (grade completed at the time of camp). Adult leadership is provided by Crawford County Camp Staff. Note: Every year, campers are frustrated by getting sand in their sleeping bag and pillow. Help eliminate sand by bringing a small tarp for under your sleeping bag. Dress-up Dinner Campers will want to bring along dressy attire for our last night s dinner and dancing (example: Girls - sun dresses/ skirt & blouse and Guys - khaki shorts and button up shirt or polo). Sunday Night Party Don t like to dance? Every year on Sunday night we offer different options for youth who may not want to attend the dance including: movie night, game night, basketball time, and more. Who Can Come to 4-H Camp? Have a friend who isn t in 4-H? INVITE THEM! Camp is open to ANY youth who is at least 8 years old AND in the third grade, through youth in the eighth grade not older than 14 (by Jan 1, 2016).

2 How Much Will It Cost? The cost for camp is only $ This cost includes ferry boat & bus ride to and from camp, meals, lodging, craft supplies, a camp t-shirt, and other various materials for the weekend. All Crawford County 4- H members receive a $15 discount (4-H Member Cost $177). Checks should be made payable to: OSU Extension, Crawford County. NOTE: Family Discount to try to help families with more than one camper, $10 off total cost of for each camper in your family (Does not include counselors since their price is already discounted). Optional Additional Cost- Camp CD A camp power point CD of photos will also be available for a cost of $5.00. If you are interested, please complete the form included so that the CD can be mailed to you after fair and be sure to mark the additional cost on the registration page. When And How Do I Register For Camp? Registration will be due in the Extension Office by Friday, May 27, Campers will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until camp is full. Early registration is encouraged so that you may be assured enrollment in the session of your choice in during camp. Sessions fill-up fast! Registration information and forms can also be found on the Crawford County Extension website: crawford.osu.edu Registrations received after May 27 th will owe a $25 late fee and those participants may not be able to receive their t-shirt until after camp. Late registration will be accepted until Friday June 10 th. To register please return to the OSU Extension Office: Registration Form Camp Fee (+ additional $5.00 camp CD cost if requested) Session Selection List Camper Agreement Page (Please make sure all sections of this form are signed) Optional- Scholarship Letters Partial Scholarship Information Partial scholarships are available through the Crawford County 4-H Advisory Committee to those most deserving financial assistance. These are based on need. (To help you plan, in the past scholarships have been approximately a quarter of the camp fee. No guarantees.) Crawford County 4-H Advisory Committee has donated $2500 towards the camp budget to help keep camp cost as low as possible and still provides $600 for scholarships. A maximum 2 page essay may be completed by the camper AND a parent, family member or 4-H club advisor (1 page by camper explaining why the camper wishes to attend & 1 page by adult explaining why a scholarship is needed) and can be submitted to OSU Extension with the registration packet. If more than one family member is applying, only 1 parent essay is needed. Preference may be given to 4-H members but all youth may apply. Scholarship essays, along with completed camper registrations are due to OSU Extension by 4:30 pm on Friday, May 27 th, Selections will be made and families will be contacted by June 6 th. Payment for those who apply for a scholarship must be paid by 4:30 pm on Monday, June 13th. Content of all scholarship applications will be kept confidential. Where is the 4-H Camp on Kelleys Island at Erie County 4-H Camp? Kellys Island 4-H Camp owned by Erie County 4-H is located on the north shore of Kelleys Island in Lake Erie. Campers venture across the lake on a ferry boat and take a short bus ride to camp. Campers stay in one of 14 rustic cabins with approximately campers and at least 2 trained counselors. A modern kitchen and central dining hall provide for nutritious meals. The beach offers a unique swimming

3 area supervised by certified lifeguards. Other facilities include a Nature Center, Craft Hall, Campfire Circle, Recreation Hall, Low Ropes Course, Sports Field, a Gaga Ball Pit, and Basketball/Volleyball Courts. Health & Safety Assuring the health & safety of each camper is important to us at 4-H Camp. There is a registered nurse present throughout camp. Campers are covered by a health & safety policy while involved in camp programs. Activities are supervised by responsible adults and counselors who are trained in camping programs. Rules and regulations have been developed and are enforced for the health & safety of all individuals. Campers will receive an additional camp packet with health forms once they have registered and paid their camp fee. More Information Prior to camp, you will receive additional information and health forms. Included will be information telling you what to bring, forms to bring with you to the dock, and how to get to 4-H Camp Kelleys Island/ Kelleys Island boat dock on Marble Head. It is your responsibility to find transportation to and from the Kelleys Island Boat Line. Full time participation at camp is required! Campers may not come to camp late or leave camp early! 6 ALL SECTIONS MUST BE COMPLETED & TURNED WITH REGISTRATION Camp Commitment Agreement I understand that I, (youth s name) will be expected to participate in the planned activities and events and follow all camp rules and policies. I agree that I am not to have or use any form of tobacco, alcoholic beverages or other drugs, or fire crackers while at camp. I agree to follow all camp rules. I agree that I will not leave the campgrounds without the permission of the Camp Director. I will conduct myself with respect for others at all times and will cooperate with the camp staff. I understand that areas are restricted to boys in the boys cabin area and girls in the girls cabin area. I will not deface or destroy any camp property. If I break any part of this agreement, I understand I will be sent home without any refund of my fee and at my own expense. I also understand my family is responsible for transportation arrangement to and from camp. If a cell phone is brought to camp, it will be collected by a counselor at the first cabin meeting and turned into the camp director until the end of camp. If a camper is caught with a cell phone after that time, it is grounds for immediate dismissal. Counselors will turn in their cell phones to the camp director at the beginning of camp. If any phones are found throughout the weekend, the phone will be taken and the phone will NOT be returned until the end of camp. Counselor may also not be selected to come to camp the following year. By signing this Ohio 4-H Cell Phone Policy Agreement, I confirm to have read and fully understand this form. 8 Session Descriptions SESSION BREAKOUT 1 Biking Adventures on Kelleys Island (15) Take a bike tour of Kelleys Island to see the lake and Glacier Grooves. Camper will need to provide a bike and helmet. If selected, you will receive a letter prior to camp explaining where the bikes & helmets can be delivered prior to camp. Braided Accessories (15) Campers will get to make a bracelet, headband, and/or necklace made out of cut up t-shirt strips. Campers will have a variety of colors and styles to choose from. Glitter It All! (20) Show off your sparkly style by creating designer pens and candles that you get to take home and show off to all of your friends and family. Tag, Tag, and More Tag (20) You ve hear of plain old tag and maybe even freeze tag. Well do we have more for you! We ll play many variations of traditional tag including fox tag and amoeba tag that you can take home and play with your friends. Hula Hoop Dream Catchers (12)- We re taking dream catchers to a whole new level. Join us and make your very own giant dream catcher. Intended for campers ages 11 and up. Double session. UV Light Fun (12)- Campers will have a chance to make their own UV lights and experiment with all the ways to use them. After camp, you can take them home and show them off to your friends. Spa Day (8)- Join us for a fun mud mask making, nail painting session where you can learn how to make your own mud masks to create again at home later. If selected, you will need to bring an extra hand towel and will receive a letter prior to camp. Intended for campers age 11 and up. GAGA Ball (20) Play a unique group game that you will surely enjoy; our counselors go crazy for it! Are you ready to try? Quarry Fishing (12) Take a walk through nature and go fishing on the rocks at the old stone quarry on Kelleys Island. This session is taught by Kelleys Island Camp Staff. SESSION BREAKOUT 2 Tic Tac Toe (14) Campers will get to make their own travel size marble Tic Tac Toe game board. Intended for campers ages 11 and up. Fuzzy Wuzzy Pillows (15) In this session, campers will have the chance to make their very own pillows with fabric knots; NO SEWING REQUIRED! Food Game Fun (20) Create yummy and fun looking foods that relate to real life games. These treats will be sure to fulfill your appetite! Hula Hoop Dream Catchers (12)- This is a double session. Please be sure to mark it for both your first and second breakout choices. Intended for campers ages 11 and up. Boot Scoot and Boggy on down the line! (20)- Come dance at Kelleys Island! Campers will be learning line dances from the cupid shuffle to the Tennessee Wig Walk.

9 Life Size Candyland (20) Learn team building skills while having a blast playing Candyland with your friends! Back to Back Water Fun (14)- Team up with a friend to take on multiple water game challenges that will be sure to soak you from head to toe. Marshmallow Shooters (12)- Create your own marshmallow shooter then test it out on the target battlefield. This session is taught by Kelleys Island Camp Staff. Just Dance! (18) Have a competitive side? Love music from all genres? Combine the two for tons of fun as we host a just dance tournament for all ages of campers. SESSION BREAKOUT 3 Bleached T-Shirts (15) In this spin off session of tie dye T-Shirts, campers will make a bleached out T-Shirt with the design of their choice. If selected, you will need to bring a plain black or dark colored T-Shirt and will receive a letter prior to camp. Up, Up, and Away (15)- Design and launch 2 liter Bottle Rockets that you help to create. Learn how fin placement and nose cone design affect the flight of your rocket. Pie Iron Cooking (15) In this fun and yummy session, campers will make mouthwatering pie iron treats that they will create and cook themselves over the camp fire. Wooden Photo Boards (15)- Have your favorite photo pasted onto a piece of painted wood and hang it at home for all to see. If selected, you will need to bring a 5X7 or smaller (b&w or color) photo and will receive a letter prior to camp. Mouse Trap (20)- Work together as a team to build a life sized mouse trap! Teams will compete against one another to see who has the best trap. You may even get to try your trap out on one of the counselors! GAGA Ball (20) Play a unique group game that you will surely enjoy; our counselors go crazy for it! Are you ready to try? Not a double session. Stuck Inside the Globe (15)- Campers will create a snow globe from a mason jar featuring game pieces as a reminder of this year s camp that you can keep forever. Pop Tab Bracelets (15)- Let s make jewelry pop by making fashionable bracelets and necklaces out of recycled pop tabs. SESSION BREAKOUT 4 Marvelous Makeovers (20) Campers will be able to get their hair and nails done for the dance by Pioneer Cosmetology students! Snorkeling (10) It s hot at camp, why not go for a swim? Explore the underwater world at Kelleys Island as you learn to snorkel at the quarry. This session is taught by Kelleys Island Camp Staff. Candy Jars at Candyland (15)- Everyone needs a place to store their favorite candy! Come make a gumball machine-like candy jar with your own designs. A fun and creative souvenir to take home!

10 Not Just Junk Jewelry (15) Let s get creative and turn some old scrap washers into unique, one of a kind jewelry and key chains. Outdoor Cooking- Breakfast Style (20) Make a variety of different delicious treats with the help of our counselors and adult staff over the campfire. DIY Belt Buckles (12) Fashion is no longer just for girls! All campers are welcome to design, stamp, and paint their own unique belt buckle that will last a lifetime. Shaving Cream Twister (10)- Campers will get messy in this fun filled session! Work together as a team to stay standing in this crazy new way to play the classic game Twister. Science Fun & Games (10)- Do you like science and surprises? If so, we have just the session for you! We can t tell you what will happen until camp but it will be sci-tastic! Marble Mazes (15)- Create your own take home game that you can change again and again so it never gets old! Campers will make changeable mazes with a few simple supplies that they can take home and challenge their friends and family. SESSION BREAKOUT 5 Can you Win It In A Minute? (15) Based on the game show Minute to Win It, campers will enjoy 10 of the best Minute to Win It classic games. This session will be full of fun and laughter! Counselors in Training (15) Go behind the scene of being a camp counselor. Current counselors will explain what all goes into being a counselor and hopefully you may become a part of our team soon. Session is designed for campers ages year olds. Frame It (20) Campers will make their own picture frames based on this year s game theme to take home for a creative souvenir! Fill in The Lyrics (10)- Spin off on the game show Don t forget the Lyrics, campers will enjoy their own Kelleys Island Game Show edition where they fill in the blanks of today s favorite songs and some classic oldies. Human BATTLESHIP (30)- Don t get board with this new way to play Battleship. Take cover! The enemy team is attacking your Battleship! Help defend your team s human vessels from enemy fire. Return fire on the enemy by soaking your counselors and fellow campers. Be careful, one wrong move and you may end up getting hit with water too! Tie Dye Tee s (15)- Want to create a one of a kind camp t-shirt? Come join us as the Kelleys Island Staff teaches us how to make the best tie dye tee s. This session fills up fast so turn in your registration soon! If selected, you will need to bring a plain white T-Shirt and will receive a letter prior to camp. Giants, Wizards, and Elves, Oh My! (20)- A fun game that you can learn to play with your friends again when you get home! Escape the real world and battle with these three mythical creatures. Ice Cream in a Bag (20) I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM! Make your own homemade delicious treat, ice cream in a bag. Great opportunity to cool off at camp and enjoy some sweet treats.
