2 THE WEEKEND We'll spend a weekend with an awesome crew in cabins on beautiful Anvil Island, BC, learning trail running and adventure skills, paddling on SUPs, doing beach yoga, having barbecues, swimming, and obviously, summitting the top of the island together. We'll have a mountain movie night, adventure slideshows, and we'll have inspiring women come and teach us sports nutrition, navigation, and mountain running skills. WHY TEEN GIRLS? Being a teenager can be really fun, but it can also be limiting. Most teens don't have access to a car, which makes it hard to get to the mountains. There's so much pressure, with school, body image, social conformity, parents, future plans, and there's so little freedom. Teens need mountain adventures! WHY TRAIL RUNNING? Trail running is a great gateway mountain sport. It doesn't require much in the way of gear or special skills, you can simply put on a pair of running shoes and go, and you're trail running. We want to bring a connection to mountains, and to outdoor adventures to young women, and we feel like trail running is the ultimate low-lying mountain fruit.

3 THE WEEKEND May 11-13, 2018

4 Friday Night (May 11) We've designed the camp to maximize time for adventures together, but fitting into school and parents' schedules. 5:30pm: meet in Horseshoe Bay at Blenz cafe (Girls Gone Wilderness can help arrange carpooling) 6pm: take a water taxi to Anvil Island (costs included) 6:30pm: arrive on Anvil Island, time to set up your camp 7:15pm: healthy & energizing dinner 7:45pm: unwind, meet your camp leaders!

5 Saturday (May 12) Saturday is all about learning new skills & building confidence, to enjoy a lifetime of mountain adventures! Morning 8am: healthy / delicious breakfast 9am - 12 noon: Intro to Trail Running & Intro to SUP workshops. Campers get to rotate between these two sport-specific workshops, introducing them to trail running and "SUP" (stand up paddle boarding), with a small outing + technique training. Mid-morning snacks will be served to keep us energized! Afternoon 1pm: healthy / delicious lunch 2pm: Adventure Skills workshops. Campers will rotate between How to Survive Outside, where we'll learn how to build a fire, and Sports Nutrition & Body Image, where we'll make a healthy, delicious snack. Evening 5pm: free time / optional outdoor yoga 6pm: healthy / delicious dinner 7:30pm: mountain movie night

6 Sunday (May 13) We'll end the camp on a high note, then return campers safely across Howe Sound, to return home with their parents from Horseshoe Bay. 7am: healthy breakfast 8am: mountain running adventure, to the summit of Anvil Island! (We will snack on the journey.) 1pm: return to camp, shower, grab bagged lunch, pack up 2pm: leave camp on water taxis 2:30pm: return to Horseshoe Bay with smiles, new friends, and new skills! (We can help with carpools if needed.)

7 WHO CAN JOIN? Teenage girls To enjoy the camp, campers will need to enjoy playing outside and being active. They do not need to be on their school's running team or experienced in hiking. Our ideal campers are excited to learn, and ready for adventure! Campers will also need to have great health for this camp, due to the nature of camp, and the location. As we are camping on a remote island, medical transfers would require a private water taxi. Campers can come from any corner of British Columbia! THE FINE-PRINT Because campers will be under the legal consenting age we will ask that parents sign a waiver prior to the camp. If a camper would like to return home early, they will need to incur the cost of alternative transportation,the only way to leave early is a private water taxi in the range of $200. RETURN POLICY? Up to and including March 9th, 2018: full refund. From March 10th to April 10th 2018: if we can find a replacement for your spot, you get a full refund. If not, we'll give a 50% refund. On April 11th and later: no refund.
