1 DESCRIPTION: This access cover is manufactured with spheroidal graphite cast iron according to standard EN 1563 (grade EN-GJS-500-7, nodularity over 95%, carbide lower than 2%). The product design is a D-400 class product according to standard EN-124 and according to Specific Regulations enforced by Aenor Technical Certification Committee. MAIN FEATURES: Hinged cover 645 mm overall flange, clear opening 600 mm. The cover opens to 120º so a maximum access is provided. The cover remains securely blocked at 90º to prevent an accidental closing. The cover can be removed by lifting it at a 90º vertical angle. External frame dimension 850 mm, height 100 mm. The external surface of the cover is provided with an upper relief. The cover is provided with a joint to avoid the metallic contact cover with the frame, preventing therefore noise and vibration. In closed position there is no contact between the cover hinge and the frame. The cover has a Mean Strength Performance 25% over D400 class, according to EN-124. Therefore, this product is well sized for normal traffic in the intensity locations. The surface flatness in the seating zones is below 2 mm. The cover has an elastic locking system, that also has an autocentering functionality. The cover can be opened using standard tools such as a crowbar. In case the cover was left unlocked, the first vehicle crossing over would lock it. HOJA: 1/5

2 The design of the hinge as well as the autocentering locking system and specifically designed points in the cover provides a better inserting of the cover in his frame. Insuring that lateral movements of the cover inside the frame are avoided as well as metallic noise. The external frame design has been intended to avoid as much as possible the premature cracking of the asphalt or pavement around. LOCATION: Carriageways of roads, parking areas for all type of road vehicles. PROTECTION The product is covered with a layer of black epoxi-poliester RAL This is applied by electrostatic means after an intensive shotblasting process. A high temperature polimerization process is then applied. All the faces of the product, and very specially the ribs are coated. As the coating system is not based on immersion, the thickness of the coating is more uniform and all the parts of the cover are protected with coating (very specially the main ribs under the cover), insuring an excellent protection against rust and corrosion. The medium thickness is over 90 micra. The performance of the used, according to standard DIN for saline chamber test, is over 800 hours (with surface oxidation under 1 %). HOJA: 2/5

3 BADGINGS AND LOGOS: The cover has 3 zones where the badgings can be located. These badgings are used to identify a utility network, the company responsible of the network, the logo of a company or the logo of a city. It is also possible to have a full design of all the cover, being this a typical request for specific cases such as: amusement parks, old center towns, trade fairs or in specific town events such as olympic games or centenary events. All those upper relief badgings are part of the casting and not welded, riveted or glued. To keep the non-sliding functionality of the product any surface over 75 mm remains without relief according to EN-124. ERGONOMIC OPERATION AND LIFTING: The cover allows an easy opening and closing using simple common standard tools. Also the cover will be locked when a vehicle passes over. Both operations can be done with an opening force below 12 dan. Therefore the European Directive 90/269/CEE regarding safety and health is fulfilled. HOJA: 3/5

4 PRODUCT CERTIFICATION: This product is certified by two independent organizations (Aenor and BVQI), regarding quality and safeness of the product. By the request of the customers, we have a record of testing the products as well as the hardness test of the joints. HOJA: 4/5
