3 SUMMER POWER PRESCHOOL ymcamn.org/summer Ages 24 months 5 years old as of June 1, 2017 June 12 August 25 No Program offered July 3 7 and August 28 September 1 Qualified teachers lead 3-5-year-old children in activities that help prepare them for their school years. Based upon a weekly theme, your child will learn to write, rhyme, use math skills, follow directions, interact with other children, recognize and express feelings, and use words to solve conflict. They will also make friends and have fun as they sing songs, participate in arts and crafts, nature studies and much more. Variable schedules offered, including 2-, 3-, or 5-day options. Sign up on a week-by-week basis. Call for more details. Classes must meet minimum enrollment to run. *All children must be potty trained. One-time, non-refundable registration fee of $50 per child. We provide a Healthy Living experience for kids by educating on healthy food choices and the right balance of physical activity. Kids stay motivated, entertained and are encouraged to make choices and exercise independent thinking. Special themes guide each week with a variety of activities including multiple field trips and special interest clubs no two weeks are alike! Not only are the kids entertained and engaged, they re learning new things, developing a healthy lifestyle and making new friends. 6 SUMMER YOUTH SPORTS ymcamn.org/summer Kids who participate in week-long Summer Sports at the Y discover so much more than their athletic abilities. They build character, develop self-confidence and create healthy relationships through positive competition. Kids of all skill levels and abilities can choose from a variety of sports to explore this summer. SOCCER Weeks of June 12, July 10 and August 21 Kids learn the basic skills and techniques of soccer and improve on those skills as they learn to play every position. Our staff works through a curriculum with kids on ball-control, passing, trapping, shooting and defense. Participants have the option of bringing their own shin guards and cleats. TENNIS Weeks of June 12 and August 21 Kids will develop and improve their tennis techniques and skills: forehand, backhand, serving, anticipating the ball and play strategies. They ll play a set or two as they learn the rules and unique scoring. Participants are encouraged to bring their own racquet. Tennis balls are provided. FRIDAY PLAY DAYS Friday Play Days give participants the opportunity to put their hard work and new skills into action at the end of each week. 6 BASEBALL/ TBALL/ SOFTBALL Weeks of June 19 and August 14 Participants develop and improve skills: throwing, catching, pitching, hitting and running bases. FIELD TRIP: Week of June 19: Twins Game CHEER/DANCE Weeks of June 19 and July 17 Learn the ins and outs of basic and advanced cheer and dance moves. Finish the week participating in a choreographed routine put to music. Families can watch the performance live at the end of the week. FIELD TRIP: Week of June 19: Twins Game FIELD TRIP: Week of July 17: Lynx Game TRACK AND FIELD Week of June 26 Kids learn the proper techniques of running, pacing, jumping and throwing. They will work on personal bests and learn about track and field greats and their success. FLOOR HOCKEY Weeks of June 26 Kids can improve their stick handling, passing and shooting skills through drills and our hockey curriculum.

We will practice on a local golf course where young golfers will have an opportunity to improve their driving, chipping and putting. Bring your own golf clubs; but clubs are available if needed. Bussing provided from summer sports site. LACROSSE Weeks of July 5* and July 31 *no program July 3 4, fee prorated Our lacrosse instruction is designed to stimulate a kid s love of the game through focus on skills, drills and rules of the game. FLAG FOOTBALL Weeks of July 24 and August 7 Kids play every position and learn the basic offense and defense skills including catching, passing, capturing the flag, punting and kicking off a tee. Our focus is on teamwork, sportsmanship and learning the game without contact or tackling. SWIM AND DIVE Entering grades 1 8 in fall, 2017 Week of July 31 Kids will have fun and improve their fundamental and advanced stroke swim skills including start and turn techniques, as well as instruction on diving. The Y s certified instructors use a nationally recognized learn to swim curriculum. VOLLEYBALL Weeks of July 10 and August 7 Kids learn about the sport of volleyball including: rules, communication skills, serving, setting and passing. Players work through a progression of skills while learning the importance of team work. BASKETBALL Weeks of July 17 and August 14 Players will progress through the skills of basketball: dribbling, passing, shooting and defensive skills through drills. FIELD TRIP: Week of July 17: Lynx Game 7 Program Hours: 9 a.m. 3 p.m.. We provide a Healthy Living experience for kids by educating on healthy foods choices and the right balance of physical activity. Uproar brings a multitude of character development experiences to kids through community involvement, leadership activities, team building exercises, goal setting and more! Days are filled with field trips, outings to amusement and water parks, and fun group activities that exercise the body, challenge the mind and nurture the spirit of our youth. From the moment campers arrive each day, counselors guide them through traditional camp experiences including hiking, nature study, swimming, group games, and arts and crafts. They have opportunities to sing songs, tell stories, and meet new friends. All activities are geared to show your preschool camper the wonders of nature. Wee Backpackers is carried out in small groups under the watchful eye of counselors trained to meet the needs of young campers. The Wee Backpacker program maintains a low staff to child ratio. NEW! At each of our specialty camps, day campers spend approximately two hours each day in their specialized activity. The remainder of the day is spent enjoying traditional camp activities. ANIMALS IN ACTION CAMP Entering grades 1 3 in fall, 2017 Weeks of June 12, July 10, July 31 and August 14 Kids get a real hands-on animal experience in this exploration camp. They ll learn about wildlife and endangered species while they compare and contrast the characteristics of many common and unusual animals. Plus they ll learn how animals enrich our world. NEW! SUPER HERO CAMP Entering grades 1 3 in fall, 2017 Weeks of June 19, July 17 and July 31 BAM! POW! KAZAM! Kids think, dress, and act like superheroes! Kids bring their own superhero costume or make one at camp. Suiting up as their favorite superhero each day, they ll explore their own super powers. Activities include super games, super crafts and super fun. Where else can kids spend the day as their alter-ego superhero, meet other superheroes and save the world? DRAGONS, FAIRIES AND PRINCESSES CAMP Entering grades 1 3 in fall, 2017 Weeks of June 26, July 24 and August 14 Campers let their imaginations soar in this magical fairy tale-themed camp. Adventures will include themed arts and crafts, a mystical quest and a special tea party! 11

Kids create a variety of projects that may include: sketching, watercolors or paints, nature collages, picture frames, necklaces and bracelets, and much more. Campers will gain new skills and self-confidence every day through a variety of climbing activities. Campers test their strength, strategy, and skill while learning safety procedures, belay techniques, knot tying and proper climbing techniques. Climbing takes place at Camp St. Croix in Hudson, WI. The remainder of day will be spent at Kumalya. Campers grades 4-6 will get a chance to test their skills rock-climbing at Taylors Falls. 12 ARCHERY CAMP I Weeks of June 19, July 10, July 31 and August 21 While learning the fundamentals of archery, campers examine equipment close up, identify the parts of the bow and arrow, and learn the science behind drawing the bow and releasing the arrow. Instructors teach proper grip, stance and aim alignment. Campers will receive a lesson from the pros at A1 Archery in Hudson, WI. Equipment is provided ARCHERY CAMP II Weeks of June 26, July 17 and August 7 Your child will advance their archery skills and build upon skills learned in our Archery I Camp. Campers will establish their eye dominance to hone their aim and accuracy. They will also learn different types of equipment and how to repair it. Campers will receive an advanced lesson from the pros at A1 Archery in Hudson, WI. NEW! CYCLE ADVENTURES BIKE CAMP Weeks of June 26, July 24 and August 14 Take the outdoors on with two wheels! In this exciting camp, campers explore the Lake Elmo Park Reserve on safe and fun bike trails. They learn the basic parts of a bike and how to maintain them. We will use maps to navigate the wonderful trails using the best safety practices. Campers must bring a bike and helmet. Bikes will be transported by a bus trailer and locked up at camp Monday Friday.

13 DUCT TAPE CAMP Weeks of June 12, July 10 and July 31 Creativity is unlimited when the medium is duct tape! Kids learn how to craft with duct tape and make amazing things like bags, wallets, jewelry, and almost anything they can think of. Duct tape arts and crafts are one of the hottest trends. FISHING CAMP Weeks of June 19, July 17 and August 7 Kids get hooked on fishing as they learn basic fishing skills. Lakes provide the scene for fishing fun using the catch-and-release method. Campers can bring their own pole and tackle, or equipment will be provided. THEATER CAMP Weeks of June 26, July 17 and August 14 Kids free their imaginations and develop improvisational skills! Campers explore the world of theater through games, acting exercises, learning about stage make-up and even performing for an audience. This camp is great for building self-esteem. OUTDOOR LIVING SKILLS CAMP Weeks of July 5*, July 31 and August 14* *No program July 3 4, fee prorated Kids develop their outdoor living skills in this exciting, hands-on specialty camp! Campers discover the finer points of preparing for a big outdoor adventure. Participants will learn a variety of useful camping skills that may include building a fire, making camp shelters, knot tying, campfire cooking and more! JUNIOR RANGER CAMP Member Participants: $205/week Non-Member Program Participants: $230/week Weeks of June 12, June 26 and July 10 The mission of Let s Move! Outside, a collaboration with the YMCA and the National Park Service, is to bring together community partners to provide opportunities that inspire lifelong stewardship of public lands. This initiative empowers young people across the country to discover the great outdoors. The YMCA and the National Park Service have partnered together for Junior Ranger Camp, which empowers youth to discover and create new outdoor opportunities to play, learn, and serve. Campers will earn their Junior Ranger Badge and experience firsthand the Junior Ranger motto of Explore, Learn, and Protect. Campers will explore the St Croix River by pontoon boat, visit a National Park, and work with a Park Ranger! 13

14 HORSE CAMPS Come experience the joys of horseback riding at Horse Camp! Camp St. Croix riding programs are progressively structured to provide campers with a fun experience of interacting with gentle horses. Instructors are trained in horsemanship and carefully match the experience level of the child with an appropriate horse. Instruction is provided at the staging area and on the horses. Safety is our top priority at Horse Camp. For all horse programs, we recommend that participants wear leather shoes or boots with heels. Long pants and protective helmets (helmets provided by camp) are required of all participants. Our horse camp is a recreational riding program and is not intended to replace formal riding lessons. Alternative programs may be planned if weather conditions such as extreme heat, rain, or wind jeopardize the safety of campers or horses. NEW! COLTS INTRODUCTORY LEVEL Member Participants: $285/week Non-Member Program Participants: $310/week Weeks of June 12, June 26, July 10, July 24 and August 7 Colts is a two-hour-per-day introductory program for campers with little or no experience around horses. First-time riders will build confidence and skills while learning the basics of western horseback riding. Instruction includes safety, leading, mounting, dismounting, reining, and basic trail riding. Horseback riding and instruction will take place at Camp St. Croix in Hudson WI. The remainder of the day will be spent in traditional camp activities at Kumalya. NEW! BUCKAROOS INTERMEDIATE LEVEL Previous Colts or similar experience required. Member Participants: $290/week Non-Member Program Participants: $315/week Weeks of June 26, July 10, July 24 and August 7 Buckaroos is an intermediate program for campers with at least one year of riding experience. Two hours of daily instruction includes a basic skill review, intermediate ring riding, trotting, grooming and saddling. The remainder of the day is spent in traditional camp activities at Kumalya. Horse day campers spend approximately two hours with horses each day. The remainder of the day is spent enjoying Traditional Camp activities. Our leadership camps develop the whole person spirit, mind, and body through a variety of service projects, hands-on activities and team building exercises. Our leaders of tomorrow begin with our youth of today! Teen specialty campers spend approximately two hours each day in their specialized activity. Test your strength, strategy, and skill as you focus on a challenging high element each day. Learn and develop climbing skills, belay techniques, knot tying and climbing safety. Climbing takes place at Camp St. Croix in Hudson, WI. The remainder of day will be spent at Kumalya. You will get a chance to test your skills rock-climbing at Taylors Falls in the bluffs of the St. Croix River. TEEN ARTS AND DRAMA CAMP Entering grades 7 9 in fall, 2017 Weeks of July 10 and August 21 Take to the stage to learn and perform, participate in improve, act in theater skits, and create craft projects. You will also receive a backstage tour at Phipp s Center for the Arts in Hudson, WI. LEADERS-IN-TRAINING Entering grades 7 9 in fall, 2017 Member Participants: $300/two weeks Non-Member Program Participants: $325/two weeks June 19 30, July 24 August 4 Rise to the challenge in Leaders-in-Training Camp and discover your leadership qualities. You will learn and develop the necessary camp skills needed to lead camper activities, as well as group responsibility through activity planning. You will have opportunities to shadow counselors and assist staff in camp activities. There will be plenty of time to hang out with friends new and old. They can be purchased when you register or at the park office. If the park office is not open, permits can be purchased by depositing the permit fee into the envelope and payment box located just past the park office building. Tent camp for two nights with us at Devils Lake State Park in Baraboo, WI. On Tuesday we leave Southdale YMCA for Devils Lake State Park. Once camp is set up, the adventures begin! Wednesday is spent at a water park in the WI Dells. We ll explore the park and enjoy group games, hike, and end with a blazing campfire and a hearty meal. Then we go underground to an exciting guided cave tour at one of the nation s most unique caves. We ll spend the next day renting bikes and exploring the historic town of Lanesboro and the trails and parks along the Root River. ZIP LINE ADVENTURE Offered July and August 8 10 (3-day session) Member Participants: $350/3-day session Non-Member Program Participants: $375/3-day session This adventure takes campers soaring! Beautiful Interstate Park is our campsite for one night. We ll enjoy the park s rolling, wooded hills and the banks of the St. Croix River. Campers will spend a half-day at Trollhaugen Zip Line Adventures soaring from station to station. Then we ll experience a night sleeping at YMCA Camp Icaghowan. Here we will canoe and participate in camp activities. Truly a memory-making getaway! NORTH SHORE KAYAK AND ALPINE SLIDE TOUR Offered June and July (3-day session) Member Participants: $350/3-day session Non-Member Program Participants: $375/3-day session The starting point for this North Shore adventure is the spectacular harbor city of Duluth. There are so many fun things to see and do there! We ll spend two nights camping at Spirit Mountain Campground. Our first day adventures include riding the alpine slide, hiking and exploring. On Wednesday campers will spend the day in a guided kayak tour to local islands.
