Beste Wense Die Texas Potjie Fees Span Hello Everyone, Welcome to the biggest South African party in Texas. We are glad that you could join us in celebrating our South African cultural heritage. This is the 10th annual Texas Potjie Festival and we know it will prove to be the best gathering so far. Besides the Texas Potjie Competition and the Best Boerewors in Texas competition there are many other activities that everyone, young or old, competing or not, can participate in. Live Tri-nations rugby on TV, a golf tournament, free boerewors dinner, the sokkie, Sondag kerkdiens, and a watermelon eating contest for the kids are just a few of the things planned for the weekend. So come kuier saam met ons here at the Texas Potjie Festival. In closing we would like to thank everyone who has made the Texas Potjie Festival possible. We would like to recognize our sponsors. Without their support the Potjie would not be what it is today. We would also like to thank everyone who has volunteered their time and efforts to make the Texas Potjie Festival possible. Thank you all. Lastly, we would like to thank YOU, the contestants, and those attending the Potjie. Your enthusiasm makes the Festival what it is. Best Regards The Texas Potjie Festival Team

5 Activities The Potjie Competition The competition essentially started during the first Potjie get-together. The 12 or so Potjie cooks decided to share their food with everyone attending the gathering. After some lighthearted discussions over whose Potjie tasted the best the challenge was on for the next year. It s from that small gathering in 2000 that the Texas Potjie Festival has evolved into what it is today with the contestants still sharing their potjiekos creations. There are four categories one can enter: bread, dessert, open and main. Sign up at the KOA hall. Date: Sunday Sept 5th Place: your own campsites/main tent HQ Time: see judging times Best Boerewors In Texas Competition Started in 2007 the Best Boerewors in Texas gives bragging rights to the winner that makes and braais the best darn boerewors in the Lone Star state.
