1 Introduction Schlage full size cylinders are available in a large number of keyways in either the (obverse) family or the C family. Restricted keyways are also available to order.you must specify the keyway required when ordering. Unless otherwise specified, C123 is the new standard keyway for stock locks and C145 is the new standard keyway for masterkeyed product. Over the last few years Schlage has introduced a variety of new keyways and cylinder types.this Chart illustrates how these terms are related.the definitions below provide additional information. 2 Cylinders and keys which incorporate all new keyways with the patented undercut groove on the right side of the key section. C Family is the name of the open family of keyways. B Family (for SFIC) and D Family keyways are restricted. Keyways Opposing Terms Schlage pin tumbler keyways which existed before keyways. Obverse is the name of the open family of keyways (C, E, etc.) and there are three other families of restricted keyways: Reverse, Numbered and Quad. Cylinder Mechanisms Primus Cylinders Schlage s high security sidebar cylinder mechanism. Patented key control, geographical exclusivity, and pick resistance are standard. UL 437 drill resistance is optional. Primus keys operate conventional cylinders. Opposing Terms Cylinders Normal, standard cylinders. Restricted Keyways Special non-stock keyways set aside for limited use and a higher degree of key control. A letter of authorization from the end user is required to process orders for keys, blanks and cylinders. Key Control Opposing Terms Open Keyways Standard keyways available without any ordering formalities. C Family ( ) and Obverse ( ) keyways are open. All others are restricted. Cylinder Category Small Format Interchangeable Core (SFIC) A core completely interchangeable with Best, Falcon, etc. No Primus version exists. Pins, springs, keys and keyways are based on a plug diameter smaller than the standard 1/2". Opposing Terms Full Size Pertaining to cylinders (including interchangeable cores), keys and keyways based on the industry standard plug diameter of about 1/2". Cylinders Full Size Interchangeable Core With Schlage Full Size Interchangeable Cores, you can integrate cores into any existing Schlage keying system with compatible, Primus or keyways.they are available in 606 and 626 finishes only. keyway cores are supplied 1-Bitted with two 1-Bitted keys control key is not included. Primus cores are normally supplied 0-Bitted and less key blanks (LKB). Small Format Interchangeable Core Schlage s Small Format Interchangeable Cores (SFIC) allow you to upgrade the security of an existing facility with a patented keying system. Small format cores are available to fit Best and other SFIC compatible locks.they are available in 606 and 626 finishes only with B family restricted keyways only. Contact us for restricted keyway requirements. Uncombinated cores are furnished less keys and pins.
