1 OPERATIONS ORDER (TrgO) 17 July 04 Distribution List EXERCISE FALLEN HARE SITUATION 2137 Calgary Highlanders RCACC will participate in Exercise Fallen Hare, Hunter education and outdoor skills exercise, to be conducted at Alford Lake, from Dec 04 to Dec 04. This exercise is classified as an Optional Training Trip and a pre-requisite for the 24 hr Solo in Jan Friendly Forces: 2512 KOCR RCACC Attachments: Capt Cousins, G Cpl Ferguson, D 2. MISSION To provide cadets with the opportunity to learn survival hunter education and outdoor skills. 3. EXECUTION a. General Outline This exercise will be conducted, in three phases: (1) Phase One. Personnel will assemble at Mewata Armouries, load stores and kit on to transport, travel to Alford Lake bivouac site, unload stores and kit from transport, assign sleeping quarters conduct briefing for Phase Two activities, and rest. (2) Phase Two. All training will be conducted on Saturday 11 Dec and Sunday 12 Dec IAW Annex A. (3) Phase Three. Personnel will travel to Mewata Armouries, unload, clean and store all stores and kit and dismissal. a. Groupings and Taskings (1) Groupings. Coordinating Instructions (1) Timings Exercise timing will be IAW Annex A (2) Routes Travel from Mewata Armouries to Alford Lake RV will be as follows, maps in Annex C: (i) Mewata Armouries to Crowchild: West on Crowchild / Hwy 1A to Hwy 22; North on Hwy 22 to Hwy 27; West on Hwy 27 thru Sundre to Hwy 22; North on Hwy 22 to Caroline; West at first intersection 27km to Alford Lake.

3 (ii) (iii) Alford Lake to Rocky Mountain House Hospital: East on HWY 591, North on HWY 22, West on HWY 11 to Rocky Mountaing Hosp ( nd Ave, phone (403) ). Alford Lake to Sundre Hospital: East on HWY 591, South on HWY 33, East on HWY 27 to Sundre (709-1 st St NE, (403) ). (3) RVs RV for Alford Lake will be parking lot, Alford Lake. (4) Funding This exercise is to be funded by the WISE foundation 4. SERVICE SUPPORT a. Rations and Feeding All rations will be fresh prepared on site. b. Accommodations c. Stores All cadets and staff to sleep in gender segregated cabins as designated on site. All stores IAW Annex B. d. Transport (1) Cadets and staff not otherwise tasked to be transported by two one 72 pax bus from Cardinal Coach Lines. (2) All stores and personal kit to be transported by 1 ton rental truck from Budget Car and Truck rentals. (3) Emergency vehicle to be 4x4 rental pick-up track from Budget Car and Truck rentals. e. Dress and Equipment. Dress: All CIC officers will wear combat clothing. Civilian Instructors and cadets may wear approved combat clothing with CI or Cadet identifier, or civilian clothing IAW Annex B. Personal kit for exercise shall be IAW Annex B. f. Emergency Procedures g. POL (1) Minor incidents will be brought to the attention of the First Aid officer, Major incidents will be evacuated by rental vehicle via previously stated route to Sundre / Rocky Mountain House Hospital. (2) Exercise First Aid kits will be located at bivouac CP. (1) Vehicles will be fuelled by driver as required.

4 (2) Naphtha for Coleman stoves and lanterns will be provided in stores. Naphtha will be secured in POL storage point. Stoves and lanterns will be filled at POL filling point in leak-proof drip trays and will wiped off after filling; and (3) Any spill will be cleaned up IAW approved methods. 5. COMMAND AND SIGNALS a. Please check the weekend forecast and adjust your kit accordingly. You must bring ALL items on the list (except for the optional items). Any cadet who arrives unprepared or who are missing the required items WILL NOT be allowed to go on that exercise. You will be sent home.
