Challenger Sports League This sports program for children and young adults with disabilities is available in many WNY communities. Sports include baseball, basketball, bowling, golf and volleyball. Topics include animation, art, etiquette, fashion, recording studio and more. Vocational Summer Camp Southeast Works 181 Lincoln Ave. Depew, NY Michelle Brenner , ext. 276 The program s goal is to increase the success of students in their last years of high school as they transition from school to work. Activities take place at Southeast Works Depew location and at various employer sites. Many school districts are agreeing to pay the fee. Students do not have to be waiver enrolled. West Seneca Community Education Summer Fun Programs Programs for preschoolers, sports for kids and teens, music and theater, crafts, and a full swim program for every age. West Side Rowing Club Learn to Row Crew Camp For boys and girls ages who want to learn the fundamentals of rowing. Sessions are July 8- July 26, or July 29-Auust 16; 8:30-noon, $435/session. (at Main St. in the Transitown Plaza) Clarence, NY Summer classes introduce new students, ages 3 and up, to the benefits of martial arts. Five-week sessions begin June 24. The fee of $49.95 includes a full uniform with belt. Morning, afternoon and evening classes are available. YMCA Summer Camps YMCA Buffalo Niagara 301 Cayuga Road, Suite 100 Buffalo, NY Ages 3-15 (must be potty trained), June 20-August 30, Monday-Friday from 7am-6pm. The YMCA offers a variety of camps at many locations in the WNY area, including day camp, teen camp, and specialty camps. Rates vary by location and membership. YMCA Camp Weona Ages 7-17 Camp sessions begin June 30 and run through August 13. Campers stay overnight for one or two-week sessions and enjoy horseback riding, camp outs, canoeing, fishing, rope courses, drama, and much more. 19 Resources and Ideas for Summer Camp or call is a resource for families that refers users to many different services available throughout Western NY. This publication is available for free throughout Western NY and a digital copy is available on line. The Town of Cheektowaga offers camps for all children. It has specialized camps for those with mild to moderate disabilities that are integrated with non- identified children. While camps are open to non-residents, financial assistance is only offered to residents. Camps for those in the Niagara Region Offering specialized one week sports camps. Local theatre camp is held at the Harlem Road Community Center in Amherst. At the end of the camp, the children participate in a production on stage.
