2 STOMPING GROUNDS Join us for Stomping Grounds summer camp, the place for fun since 1977! What s great about our camp? As a park district, we recognize the importance of fun and social play. We know that leisure and recreation is foundational to our development. Because of this, we stack our camp day with plenty of fun at the park, at the pool and around the community. We also know that kids need an element of challenge to keep their minds active. We build activities around learning in a fun environment, regularly incorporating science, technology, engineering, arts and math into the camp week. You ll find our campers engaged in reading, building, gardening, and exploring. It s a great opportunity for your camper to enjoy the summer, full of play, swimming, learning and, of course, lots of laughter. Weekly $149 R / $186 NR $90 R / $112 NR (Week of July 4) NEWS TO KNOW: Weekly camp fees include one Stomping Grounds t-shirt for the summer, field trips, enrichment activities, swim lessons and recreational swims. Register online at hfparks.com. Registration is available until noon on the Saturday before the camp week starts, or until all spots are taken. Sign up early for the sessions you want. The first week s payment does not guarantee a spot for the entire summer. Register early! If space allows and you register after noon on the Saturday before, there is an additional $25 fee. No camp July 4 & 5. SNOW DAYS Snow days at some schools changed the last day of school. Join us for this new camp for 3-5 year olds. Each day will have a theme that our activities, games, and crafts will be based upon. Safety themes are also included throughout the camp with visits from community safety officials. Sign up is per week. Please bring a labeled water bottle and a peanut free snack each day. Register early! If you register on the first day of that camp s week, there is an additional $25 fee. Using age appropriate activities and games, along with a lower basket, campers are introduced to the basics of basketball. Development of early skills such as proper ball handling, passing and shooting is combined with the basic knowledge of the rules of the game and principles of teamwork and sportsmanship. Sports & Fitness Camps TOTAL SPORTS CAMP This camp focuses on a variety of sports including flag football, basketball, baseball, kickball, capture the flag, and other group games. Each day campers focus on skill development and fundamentals for each respective sport, followed by game play. Coaches ensure a fun and energetic atmosphere while promoting teamwork and good sportsmanship. H-F Auditorium $110 R / $137 NR 7-12 June M-F 8:15-11:15 am CHICAGO BULLS BASKETBALL CAMP Learn fundamentals and improve your game through on-court play and individualized challenges. All participants will receive four tickets to a select Chicago Bulls game, four tickets to a select Windy City Bulls game, Bulls Swag Bag and more! H-F Auditorium $ June M-F 1-4 pm FLAG FOOTBALL CAMP This camp is devoted to preparing players for success in youth flag football leagues. Coaches emphasize offensive formations and plays, league rules, strategy and fundamentals. 4 LET S GO PLAY GOLF CAMP The Let s GO PLAY Pups and Juniors Golf Camp will take young golfers out onto the golf course and put their skills to test. The camp will place an emphasis on safety, etiquette and FUN. Rental clubs are available for no additional fee, but are on a first come, first served basis. Coyote Run Golf Course PUPS $60 R / $80 NR JRS $70 R / $95 NR PUPS 4-8 June M-Th 12:30-1:30 pm COYOTE PUPS The Coyote Pups Golf Camp will take young golfers from the putting green to the golf course. Learn the proper technique for grip, aim and set up to get the kids off to the right start. The fee also includes a range card good for four baskets of range balls, as well as some supplies to stock your bag. Rental clubs are available for no additional fee, but are on a first come, first served basis. Pups Golf Camp II will further develop the skills learned in Coyote Pups I. H-F Auditorium $110 R / $137 NR 7-12 July 8-12 M-F 8:15-11:15 am WHITE SOX CAMP Learn from the pro's this summer at a White Sox Summer Camp! Professional coaches from the White Sox organization will work with campers on throwing, hitting, fielding, and base-running, but more importantly, they will be taught how to love the game of baseball. Instructors will supervise campers based on age and experience, and cater each experience to meet your child's needs. Each camper will receive a White Sox t-shirt, hat, four White Sox tickets and behind-the-scenes access to Guaranteed Rate Field on Saturday Aug. 10. The behind-the scenes access will involve a Q & A session with a White Sox player and broadcaster and the ability to watch the White Sox take batting practice before the gates open to the general public. In addition to all of these benefits, each camper will be invited back to Guaranteed Rate Field in September to run the bases, play catch in the outfield, take some swings and more. Lions Club Park $ July 29-Aug. 2 M-F 9 am - 12 pm BASKETBALL CAMP Campers improve their basketball fundamentals, learn advanced skills, and enhance their teamwork. Dribbling, passing, rebounding, shooting and defense skills are developed. Campers are divided into groups based on age, size and ability. Section #2 - Cartoon Adventures in Space Join Young Rembrandts as we travel to the farthest reaches of the galaxy in our Cartoon Adventures in Space workshop. Not only will our students learn how to illustrate science fiction-inspired characters and moments, but they will also strengthen their drawing and coloring skills. Section #3 - Monsters, Creatures and Creeps If your child is a fan of creepy, crawly monsters, this Summer Art workshop is the perfect fit. 7 HOBO JUNGLE Learn how to use basic carpentry tools (hammer and saw) while building themed full size structures. Safety is stressed and reinforced. Campers will spend part of their day in the construction area and the rest playing organized games. Sessions feature a camper t-shirt, a visit to the Millennium Park Splash Pad, and parent night. Please bring a snack, filled water bottle, and sunscreen to camp each day. We meet rain or shine! Any rain days we will have indoor activities at Park Place. Register early! If you register on the first day of that camp s week, there is an additional $25 fee. THEATER CAMP Each week students learn an aspect of musical theater. From monologues to singing to dance, participants will become triple threats in the musical theater world! Over the course of six weeks, we will put it all together and perform what we learned for family and friends. Come join us, the stage is calling! No class July 2.
