2 CAMPSITE RULES AND REGULATIONS Eco Camp Ltd accepts no liability for loss or damage to possessions and/or personal injury. In making this booking you are accepting full responsibility for your children and you are agreeing to abide by our Terms and Conditions, which can also be viewed in full on our website. All vehicles are parked at their owner's risk. Eco Camp Ltd accepts no liability for loss or damage to vehicles. Eco Camp at Beech Estate Check-in and Check-out Check-in for guests in our bell tents is 3pm and check-out is 11.30am. We ask all guests to please visit the wardens at reception upon arrival. Eco Camp Campsite Philosophy Eco Camp UK is based on a philosophy of living lightly on the land in harmony with nature. We ask our campers to respect the woodland, observe the countryside code and show consideration and respect for our neighbours and fellow campers. The Beech Estate contains woodland areas, with forestry rides and some agricultural land. You are free to explore this area between 9am and 9pm, but we ask you to keep to paths, not to damage the wood and respect our neighbours. The Wardens Lawrence and Theresa are the Beech Estate Woodland Campsite Wardens. They live on-site, in the black Warden Wagon. The Wardens are there to answer questions, assist you with problems and help you make your stay enjoyable. They also sell firewood, charcoal, hire grills and a few other bits. The Wardens' 'office hours' are 9.30am to 11.30am and then 2pm to 8pm. However, they are available at all times to help you in an emergency or if you have a noise complaint. Please assist us by adhering to the Warden s instructions. They are charged specifically with the care of the woods and moderating any behaviour that breaches our terms and conditions. Beech Estate is the Wardens' home, please respect their privacy. The Warden s number is Low Noise Policy We operate a quiet, relaxed and laid-back campsite. All electronic music and percussion instruments of any kind are prohibited. Singing and quiet acoustic instruments (guitars etc.) are fine, but only until 10pm. Loud noise doesn t fit into the vibe of communal camping and we reserve the right to remove any campers who act inappropriately or do not follow our noise guidelines. We ask that campers please respect fellow campers and our local neighbours. We ask that all noise be restricted by 10 pm so as not to interrupt the sleep of younger campers and our neighbours. The wooded area away from the campsite is off-limits and closed from 9pm-9am to minimise any noise pollution to our neighbours. Car Parking Please understand that no cars are allowed on the campsite. There is a car park and we provide wheelbarrows for you to bring your gear to your pitch. Upon arrival please text the Wardens on to be shown to your pitch. The Wardens will help you with your things if necessary.
3 Cleaning Policy We ask that you leave your Bell Tent and pitch in a clean and tidy state upon your departure. It is a condition of your stay in a Bell Tent that you clean all cooking equipment and dishes used during your stay. Thank you for your co-operation! Rubbish Policy We encourage everyone to take their rubbish home with them because rubbish collection in the woods is not always easy. However, as a Bell Tent guest, you may leave your rubbish without an additional fee. Please make sure you separate your rubbish in the bin liners provided (recycling, glass and landfill) and crush up cans and cardboard boxes. Rubbish Depot: Mountfield Household Waste Directions from Campsite: The site is on London Road (A2100), between Battle and John's Cross. TN32 5LX. At the campsite entrance gate turn right. After 0.8 miles turn left towards Battle. At the roundabout take the London Road (A2100) towards Robertsbridge for 3 miles. The site is on the right opposite the entrance to British Gypsum. Opening hours: Monday to Sunday 8am to 5pm Woodland Etiquette You are in a natural environment and as such you agree to respect all local flora and fauna. Any damage, wilful or negligent, will be taken seriously and may result in you and your party being requested to leave the campsite. In such cases we will treat your booking as having been cancelled by you and you will not be entitled to any refund. You must not collect firewood from the woodland area. Fallen deadwood provides a natural habitat for many creatures. Please purchase firewood if you run out. Countryside Code We ask our campers to respect Beech Estate and the surrounding woodlands and countryside. Consider the local community and other people enjoying the outdoors Stick to paths Leave gates and property as you find them Leave no trace of your visit Plan ahead and be prepared Follow advice and local signs Eco Camp UK along with the Beech Estate, who own the woodland and the nearby woodland areas, are committed to implementing a strategy of woodland regeneration and care of Beech Estate. The wellknown Forester, James Noble, has been empowered by the Beech Estate to implement a woodland management program. New tree plantings and on-going forestry work are carried out around the campsite area. We ask that these sensitive young trees are not damaged or their growth hindered in any way. Additional plantings and forestry work is planned to further improve the campsite and woodland. Dogs and Pets Sorry we do not allow dogs or pets on the campsite.
4 SAFETY ISSUES AND FIRE PRECAUTIONS Eco Camp UK s campsite landscape includes some steep slopes, trees, brambles and other natural hazards. Depending on the weather, conditions can be cold, wet, slippery or hot, dry and brittle! We trust that you appreciate we can take no responsibility for the weather conditions at the time of your visit. We recommend that you come prepared with suitable clothing and footwear, so that you can enjoy the charm of the natural environment in all its diversity. Adults are responsible for ensuring their own safety and the safety of any children in their care. You must also expect that at certain times of the year creatures such as wasps, mice, spiders or ants may enter the bell tents and be present in the campsite. By booking with Eco Camp UK you are acknowledging that you are aware of the risks, hazards and dangers of entering the woodland and campsite. Eco Camp UK reserves the right to close the campsite in extreme or dangerous weather conditions. The decision to do this is entirely at our discretion. Our campsites adjoin agricultural land used for farming. There is also forestry work on land adjoining the campsites. Campers must exercise extreme caution if entering these areas whilst camping with us. These areas should not be entered whilst work is being carried out in them. The Campsite has fire extinguishers and fire beaters located at fire-points. There are water stands with taps within the campsite to extinguish fires. Each Bell Tent has a 25-litre water container in case of fire. CAMPSITE FACILITIES We do not use mains electricity at the site. Solar lamps provide the lighting for the campsite. Please bring additional torches. We ask you use water sensibly and not waste it. We have outdoor bucket showers as well as regular showers. Please ask the Warden if you are unsure how to operate our showers and please supervise children around the shower system. Each Bell Tent pitch has an open fire pit for cooking and relaxing around as well as an outdoor wood-fired eco camp stove. Please use the firewood sensibly and ensure you observe sensible fire safety precautions. Children must be supervised at all times near the fire. We supply an allocation of firewood and kindling to our Bell Tents. Additional firewood may be purchased from the warden. Please do not collect deadwood from the campsite. We provide flushing toilets and compost toilets. The compost toilets bi-product is completely biodegradable (good nutrition for the trees!). All vehicles are parked away from the site, with wheelbarrows provided to carry provisions and bedding the short walk into the campsite. COMMUNICATION AND GETTING AROUND Phones There is mobile phone reception for most networks at the campsite. However, as we are totally off grid (no electricity) we have no power points to recharge. There is a phone box in Battle. In an emergency ask the Wardens to help, they have a mobile phone.
5 In case of emergency In case of emergencies, the nearest hospital with an Accident & Emergency unit is the Conquest Hospital. The Ridge, St.Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, TN37 7RD; Directions to Conquest Hospital: Turn Right out of campsite main exit and head southeast on B2096 towards A271 (0.8 m). Turn slightly left onto N Trade Rd/A271 (1.4m). At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto High St/A2100. Follow the main road through Battle (straight at two roundabouts) for 3.7 miles.
