2 Here, you will find step-by-step instructions for the various stands and other equipment. These will differ depending on the event. SETTING UP A PULL-UP BANNER Secure the bottom of the pole in the hole in the base. STEP 4 STEP 1 Remove the pull-up banner from the bag, turn it upside down and remove the pole from the slot in the base. (If the pole is not here it will be in the outside pocket.) Extend the three-sectioned pole. Depending on the environment, you may need to secure the banner by either tying it to something or resting a box of literature on the bottom. Check that the box doesn t press against the graphic. STEP 2 Turn the base over. Stand with one foot on the base to stabilise it and then pull the graphic out. STEP 3 Fix one end of the pole securely into the grooves at the top of the graphic and then pull it all the way out, making sure the pole does not slip out.

3 STEP 1 PACKING UP A PULL-UP BANNER Unhook the pole from the top taking care not to let go of the graphic to avoid damage or injury. SETTING UP DOUBLE-SIDED PULL-UP STANDS This is the same process as setting up the single-sided pull-up stands. If it s possible, be sure to position the stand in a place that makes use of both sides of the stand. STEP 2 Lower the graphic down slowly. STEP 3 Dismantle the pole and return it to the space provided underneath the base or in the side pocket. When returning the stand to its shoulder bag, please ensure that the number on the side of the stand matches the number at the top of the shoulder bag (This is only relevant if more than one stand has been used.)

4 SETTING UP THREE-PANEL STANDS STEP 1 Position the base on the floor. The arrow on the base must face the front. Check that the rubber bung is in one of the front holes. If it s not, it may have fallen out in the case. (There s a spare taped into one of the back holes.) Remove the light from the cardboard tube and angle the bulb using the black handle. Extend the telescopic arms to full length. STEP 4 Don t adjust the light by holding the bulb you may hurt yourself and the bulb could break. STEP 2 Insert Pole 1 into the base. Push it fully in and make sure it s straight. STEP 3 Connect Poles 2, 3 and 4 by twisting clockwise until the number stickers line up. Plug the light into the holes situated in the cap of the top pole. Leaning the pole forward makes this easier. Fit the two jacks of the transformer into each side of the cap. STEP 5 STEP 6

5 STEP 7 STEP 8 Remove the panels from the tube and lay them out on a clean surface. Please handle them with care and avoid holding or bending them in such a way that they crease or dent. Start with the main panel (Panel 2). Hang it centrally on the groove situated at the front of the pole cap (see top of pole). Always use the rubber bung to stop the graphic from sliding out while repositioning the stand. If lost, there is a spare taped to the back of the base. Place three magnetic joining strips down each side of the panel. The strips must be placed half on, half off. Check that these have been put on straight and run parallel to the edge before fitting the side panels. STEP 10 Panel 1 fits to the left, Panel 3 to the right. (The web address must always be at the top of the panel.) Starting from the top, insert the pin into the end of the adjacent hanging rod. Let the panel magnetise down and insert the bottom pin. STEP 11 STEP 9 Remove the rubber bung in the base. Pull the two locators at the bottom of the graphic through the holes in the base and push them to the side to locate. Then replace the rubber bung. Form the panel into a curve and then walk it around. Magnetise it to the back of the panel. Repeat for the other side panel. Check that the side panel looks correct from the side and the front of the stand. Adjust if it s askew. STEP 12

6 PACKING UP A THREE-PANEL STAND Make sure you turn the light off in advance and do not remove it until it has cooled down, as you may hurt yourself and the bulb could break. Lay the endcaps face down on top of the main panel. The pins must be facing to the middle and should overlap slightly so that the outside edges of the endcaps lie just within the main panel underneath. STEP 4 STEP 3 STEP 2 STEP 1 Remove the endcaps. Pull out at the bottom first, pull away and out from the top, and then pull away from the back. Remove all the magnetic joining bars and place in the hardware bag. Remove the main panel by freeing from the bottom first (pull down and slide across) then unhook from the top. Carefully roll-up the panels together, keeping the roll quite tight and the edges parallel so that they fit back into the tube. Remove the light when it s cool and put it back in its cardboard packing tube. STEP 5 STEP 6

7 HEALTH AND SAFETY STEP 7 TIP STEP 9 STEP 8 Remove the transformer and place with the lights. Arrange the poles in the bottom of the bag and position the base on top. Please ensure you have all of the following when packing the stand away: 4 poles, 6 magnetic strips, light and cord, instructions and spare parts. Do a final check, close the bags and reattach them to each other. Please leave the area in a tidy state. Make sure you have packed up everything and thank the event organiser. Please make sure that any wires from stand lighting are kept behind the stand and don t trail over walkways. If you have no option but to cross a walkway with an extension lead, please secure it to the floor with gaffer tape. Where necessary, please secure the stand by tying the frame to something substantial or weighing down the base. Please keep your personal belongings out of sight at all times. Do not obstruct any fire exits and keep the exit routes clear. Find out about the fire regulation policy for the exhibition area. If filling balloons, use the helium cylinders in an upright position and secure them to prevent toppling. Do not attempt to catch a falling cylinder get out of the way. Never turn your back on a free-standing cylinder. Make yourself aware of the First Aid points about the building. If you feel unwell, tell your team leader, or whoever is in charge, and seek professional medical advice from St. John Ambulance staff or another nominated First Aider on site.
