PTFE is particularly characterised by excellent chemical and thermal properties. PTFE hoses can generally be used in temperatures from -60 ºC to +260 ºC. PTFE is resistant to just about all chemicals and solvents with the exception of liquid alkali metals (e.g. liquid sodium). PTFE is also not resistant to chlorofluorides at higher temperatures. Important All the specified technical data in this documentation apply at room temperature (20 ºC). At increasing operating temperatures the mechanical properties of the PTFE will decrease and one must therefore take account of a suitable working pressure. Pulsing loads, fluctuating temperatures, high bending frequencies and extreme (continuous) vibrations will also reduce the maximum permissible working pressure. In these cases it is always advisable to contact ERIKS. 1

7 RX Eriflon-C4 chlorine General The RX Eriflon-C4 chlorine hose is used particularly for the transport of chlorine. PTFE is somewhat permeable, so on the outside of the hose some chlorine gas can be released that in combination with the moisture in the atmosphere forms hydrochloric acid. The Hastelloy-C braiding is extremely acidresistant and does not deteriorate so pressure-resistance remains guaranteed. Obviously the choice of coupling material is also important here. Hastelloy C and Monel are the most commonly used material types. Thick-walled PTFE hose specially for feeding chlorine. Can also be used for absorbing movements and vibrations. 8 RX Eriflon-F 614 General RX Eriflon-F 614 hoses are made of a very narrowly corrugated PTFE lining strengthened on the outside with PTFE impregnated glass fibre and stainless steel braiding. The PTFE lining and glass fibre are inextricably joined. The very narrow corrugation gives particularly great flexibility to the hose and makes flow resistance extremely slight. Because of their great flexibility these hoses are ideal for use where compact fitting is required and/or if the hose is subject to significant movement. Pressure hose for aggressive media but also for products from the food and pharmaceutical industry where extra flexibility is required. In smaller diameters the hose can also be used for underpressure. 10 for RX ERIFLON hoses All smooth and corrugated hoses of type F 621, F-622, C4 Chlorine, F 614 and F 511 are assembled at our own workplace. The hoses are supplied with hydraulic press-fitted couplings in any design and material type. If required the assembly is pressuretested and supplied certified. 11 Coding and materials The PTFE hose couplings consist of a clamping sleeve (1) and a nipple (2) (tailpiece). Types and 43 also have a union nut (3). Leaks at the couplings or becoming detached is not possible because of being hydraulically pressed on the hose by the clamping sleeve. Assembly of the hoses is carried out by ourselves so a high level of service can be offered. Our range comprises standardised couplings with seals according to e.g. DIN NEN - SAE - JIC or ISO. Non-standard couplings or flanges can also be supplied. The couplings have a very short fitting length and are assembled leak-free to at least the burst pressure of the associated hose. With the coding of the coupling the type number of the coupling is followed by the material composition in the order of the clamping sleeve, nipple and union nut, after which the thread type or size is mentioned. The hose units are assembled at our own workplace and a test report can be supplied. Material composition The whole coupling or each part separately can be supplied in different material types. The material types are indicated by the letters below. A = galvanised steel B = Stainless steel 304, material number C = Stainless steel 316, material number E = Hastelloy-C, material number H = zinc-free bronze K = monel S = brass Example order 1 hose RX Eriflon-F621/1/4-2 x 39 - ACC - G1/ mm. This describes a hose type RX Eriflon-F 612/1/4, inside 6.7 mm, fitted on both sides with a coupling with swivelling female thread 60º positive conical seal type 39. Clamping sleeve galvanised steel, nipple and union nut stainless steel 316. Union nut with 1/4 BSP thread, length 1,800 mm including couplings. 11

12 Counternipples for PTFE HOSES All kinds of nipples and connection parts, standard and non-standard, can be made in our turning shop. Counternipples have a letter indication determined by the sealing surface. The specially developed corrugated profile of the hose and the stainless steel cable in the recess of the corrugation means it can practically withstand a full vacuum and retain its shape at higher temperatures. This type of hose is also suitable for a higher working pressure than the design without cable. 18 for RX Eriflon hoses series 700, 800 and 900 The spiral-corrugated hoses of the 700, 800 and 900 series are assembled at our own workplace. Hoses from this series are almost exclusively supplied with PTFE-lined couplings in any design and material type. These PTFE-lined couplings are highly suitable for feeding very aggressive substances. For use in the food industry a hygienic transition between coupling and hose must be guaranteed. If required the assembly is pressure-tested and supplied certified. The following is a selection of the most customary connections. 20 RX Eriflon series 1500 HD Transport hose with a smooth and thick-walled PTFE inside wall so a relatively large bending force is needed to achieve the indicated bending radius. As a result this type is mainly applied in fixed arrangements, e.g. as a connection between non-aligned piping or as a connection between fixed piping and equipment. The stainless steel-wound hose around the PTFE inside wall means damage is practically excluded. The hose has PTFE-collared couplings and can therefore be used for applications where a sanitary connection is required. Suitable for chemicals and food. 22 RX Eriflon PTFE spaghetti tubing PTFE spaghetti tubing is mainly applied in the electronics industry and for medical and laboratory uses. disruptive voltage is 20Kv per mm thickness. The PTFE wall is not affected by temperatures occurring when soldering. Temperature range -200 to ºC in unloaded state Colour As standard the RX Eriflon PTFE spaghetti tubing is supplied in the natural milk-white colour. On request the RX Eriflon PTFE spaghetti tubing can also be supplied in other colours. Sizing RX Eriflon PTFE spaghetti tubing is manufactured according to the AWG standard (American Wire Gauge). The internal diameters are set with narrow tolerances in this standard. The wall thicknesses differ per AWG standard. Type TW (Thin Wall) supplied from stock. Types UTW (Ultra Thin Wall) and HW (Heavy Wall) available on request. Tip Use the ERIKS pinch cutter for the fast, easy, straight and burr-free cutting of the spaghetti tubing. N.B.
