If you will be arriving after check-in hours, please call ( ). Also, if you must arrive after 9pm, we ask that you wait to join us on Saturday morning after 8am. When departing, please make sure you have all your belongings. Lost and Found will only be kept for 1 week. About the Weekend At the beginning of camp, each camping family becomes part of a group, giving them an opportunity to meet, work, and play with other campers. Each group is named after a Native American tribe. After families arrive and settle-in, the tribe members make name tags and headbands of their tribal colors. Over the weekend, each tribe works together to complete a scavenger hunt and they participate in other tribal competitions. The champion is announced on Sunday and the winning tribe s photograph is taken and posted on the camp s website. In addition to bragging rights, the winning tribe is awarded Grandma s Family Camp flag and keeps it until a new tribe is crowned. Along with arts and crafts, campers enjoy canoeing, archery, hiking, fishing and getting to know the horses, among other activities. Your participation is requested, but not required. Campers also participate in sing alongs with our music director, Karree, as she plays her guitar around the campfire. The best part of Grandma s Family Camp is the down time: unscheduled time, where kids get to run and play and the adults get to relax and enjoy the scenery. During this time and throughout the weekend, we also encourage the adults to talk to the young campers about what it was like when they were children, where they went to school and how they met, for example. The goal is to foster intergenerational bonding, where the adults share their life s challenges and successes in an effort to develop their grandkid s or children s sound values, positive selfimages and an eagerness to learn from one another. Lastly, please remember the staff is made of volunteers and many of them have backgrounds in community service. They are here to make your weekend pleasant and comfortable, so please be respectful and follow their direction. General Information *The Marymount camp store, Marymart, will be open one time during the weekend. Items available for purchase include T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, water bottles, coffee mugs, and more. *There is a phone available with an outside line. Cell phone reception is somewhat limited at camp; ask a staff member where the best reception can be found. *Fairview & Nashville are our closest surrounding towns. Both have basic amenities should you need anything while at Family Camp. *Camp activities include group games, canoeing, archery, nature hikes and tours of the nature center, meals, and evening activities. *Activities Schedule: A schedule of activities will be available and led by Grandma s camp volunteer throughout the weekend. *Parents or adult family members or mentors are responsible for the supervision and actions of their children (under the age of 18) at all times. Volunteers are available to lead activities and to act as guides only. The purpose of the weekend is to spend time together as a family. * Each morning begins with a 45 minute quiet time. Please respect this time for everyone 3

5 Weekend Policies (these are reviewed with all participants the first night of the weekend) These policies are designed to preserve camp and to keep our participants safe! Compliance by all participants is required. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact camp. *ABSOLUTELY no alcohol or drugs is allowed on property. Any person found in possession of alcohol at camp will be asked to leave. If a person or family is asked to leave due to breaking rules or policies NO refund will be given. *All buildings, structures, shelters, and gathering areas at camp are non-smoking. We have designated smoking location in front of the reception hall please ask one of our staff for more details. *Weapons, firearms, fireworks, or flammable materials are NOT allowed on camp property. *Fires are permitted only in designated fire circles at campsites. An adult must be present at all times when a fire is burning. All fires must be started by Volunteer staff that will maintain the fire and make sure it is fully distinguished before leaving the area. * In the evening, we ask all participants to utilize the buddy system. At all times parents, grandparents, or mentors, etc. are to be with or near (meaning within sight) their children supervising them. *For safety and insurance purposes, no one is allowed in the kitchen area unless you are designated to be there. Please be on time to all meals as they are only served at the designated times. We gather for prayers and announcements before each meal. Food Service staff members are expecting all participants at the planned meal times. If you have special dietary needs please contact lindsey@campmarymount.com to make arrangements with our food service director. * The first aid cabin will be staffed by a volunteer. This first aid volunteer will help with and provide first aid supplies for minor injuries. We do require that you fill out an Incident form when an injury occurs. The first aid volunteer will help with this. *Any additional snacks/drinks brought to camp should be stored in airtight containers (preferably in your car not in the cabins. This helps keep rodents out of our buildings). *While at camp, please be sure that you are dressed comfortably and appropriately. You will be spending time in the great outdoors, where the weather changes and terrain is uneven. In case of inclement weather our emergency plan will be enforced (to be discussed on first night of weekend) *Vehicles are NOT allowed to drive around camp property except during check-in and check-out. If you have mobility support needs, please contact lindsey@campmarymount.com to make arrangements. For safety and insurance purposes only designated volunteer staff will be allowed to drive the golf cart. *At camp, we are stewards of the Earth. Please do not pick any plants or flowers, stay on paths, do not litter, and be conservative in your use of electricity and water. Thanks for helping us protect God s creation! * Please take your questions or concerns to Grandma s Family Camp Director, Julian Gomez, during the weekend. * Please remember the staff members at Grandma s Family Camp are all volunteers and they are here to keep you safe.
