13 Boone County Comprehensive Plan What is a Comprehensive Plan? It s a guide for decision making and helps set a course for the County over the next decade. What Does it Involve? The Comprehensive Plan presents a vision of Boone County s future. It identifies steps to move toward that vision by providing information about current conditions, long-term goals and objectives, and recommended implementation strategies. Boone County s Plan will address a wide range of issues including but not limited to: land use, housing, education, transportation, recreation, the preservation of historic and natural resources, and economic development. The plan serves as a long-term guide for the community, and it helps County leaders with setting policies and decision-making. How Can You Participate? Citizen involvement in the planning process is critical to ensure that diverse interests and perspectives are considered and incorporated into the Comprehensive Plan. Citizens will have the opportunity to contribute throughout the planning process through social media, surveys, public meetings and community engagement workshops. Each community workshop will be focused on a key topic area of the Comprehensive Plan and held in a community facility within Boone County.
