4 Annual Meeting & Celebration A flagship event for the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, the 157th Annual Membership Meeting is scheduled for December 6, This event draws more top business professionals than any other event. It is at this quality networking event the Chamber installs new officers and honors our community's businesses as well as outstanding chamber members with awards such as the Chairman's Award, Ambassador of the Year, and Citizen of the Year. This prestigious event draws over 200 prominent business professionals and takes place at a local venue. 5 Board of Directors Annual Planning Retreat Each year, the incoming Board Chair holds a strategic planning retreat for the Vice Chairs and Board Members. During this retreat, plans for the upcoming year are discussed and the Strategic Plan for the following year is formed. The Board of Directors is comprised of top executives from Macon-Bibb County's top businesses and organizations. This event is held in late October/early November. 6 Board of Directors Meetings The Chamber Board of Directors meetings are held bi-monthly during the year in January, March, May, July, September and December. The Board is comprised of top executives from Macon-Bibb County's top companies and organizations. The Board Meeting sponsor will get direct exposure to approximately 50 community leaders. Sponsor is invited to attend the meeting and your company will receive recognition prior to the meeting and also during the meeting. 7 Business After Hours Show off your business to potential customers! Business After Hours is an after-work networking event designed to highlight individual member businesses and provide a relaxed networking opportunity for members. The event is held at a member's business from 5:30 to 7:00 PM on the third Thursday of the month. Members enjoy hors'd'oeuvres*, beverages*, door prizes* and an informal setting to meet, mingle and make contacts. Sponsor provides venue, food, beverages (beer, wine, water and soft drinks with additional beverages being optional). Sponsor provides three door prizes and two registration tables. Chamber provides staffing for registration tables, handles RSVPs and provides printed name tags. 8 Chamber Ambassadors A highly energized and visible group, Chamber Ambassadors promote the Chamber's services, connect members to the chamber and assist in welcoming businesses to the community. These actions make the Ambassadors a valuable resource to the chamber while providing them the "in-the-know" information regarding the Chamber and all things Macon. As engaged members, the Ambassadors attend ribbon cuttings, Business After Hours and other events and serve as volunteers for the Annual Meeting, Golf Classic and other major events. Meeting once a month, the Ambassador committee discuss new members, upcoming events and member outreach activities. 10 Connecting Over Coffee On a bi-monthly basis, 30 business professionals make multiple contacts in less than an hour during this fast-paced networking event. Each attendee is given two minutes to spotlight his/her business. All participants have the opportunity to bring promotional materials and their business cards to be included in a "goody bag". This event is held at the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce or a host member's business from 8:15 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. 11 Chamber s Golf Classic Rotating the 18 holes of golf at a member's golf course, 144 golfers enjoy a day of networking and business development on spacious fairways and greens. Held annually, the Golf Classic attracts players who vie for fun and prizes while making great business contacts. Golfers enjoy a round of golf, a putting contest with prizes, closest to the pin game, longest drive contest, a ball drop and a reception with raffle prizes! 14 New Member Reception Each fall the Chamber welcomes all new members with a cocktail reception held at the Chamber of Commerce. Approximately attend this event designed to help new members get introduced to the Chamber facility, meet Board members and other new members and learn ways to maximize their membership. In addition to new members, Board members and Ambassadors are invited to the event. 15 Total Resource Campaign 2018 UNMASKING THE POSSIBILITIES In an organized nine weeks, volunteers raise the funding for our Chamber programs for the entire year. A TRC markets sponsorships of the Chamber's programs, events, publications and electronic media, as well as recruits new members. Recognition and fun campaign events provide an exciting environment for all volunteers. This event, which will take place on Wednesday, April 4th at noon, marks the official kick-off of the Total Resource Campaign! This year's event will be held at Mercer University in the President's Dining Room. Approximately 60 volunteers, Chamber board members, and staff attend. 16 Medical Residents Welcome Reception : Summer 2018 In partnership with Coliseum Health System and Navicent Health, the chamber is hosting a "Welcome to Macon" reception for new medical residents. The purpose of the event is to allow the business and medical community they opportunity to meet the new residents in a relaxed atmosphere and to introduce them to our community. The event will be hosted by the Chamber Board of Directors and Sponsors at a venue in Macon. 17 Party Patrol Quarterly, a group of Ambassadors and Chamber members will unexpectedly "Pop-in" with a bag of popcorn or some type of swag as a Chamber appreciation gift (15 minutes tops) to thank them for their membership. You may take a quick tour if permissible and an hear overview of the company to learn more about their business. You will encounter a lot of skeptical looks that will quickly be broken into big smile. This is an opportunity for you to personally let a member know they are appreciated and recognized as a member who is letting the community know that it matters. We are popping in to say THANK YOU!!! Pop-ins begin at 9:00 AM and end at 12:00 PM. You will depart via "party van" from the chamber parking lot. We will visit 10 to 12 member business, all geographically located close. 19 New Member Packet Be the first to reach new Chamber members! Each month the Chamber welcomes its new members with a package of information and a personalized letter from the Chamber President. Welcome packages are sent to approximately 15 new members per month. 30 Young Entrepreneurs Academy The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) is a program for middle and high school students interested in the area of entrepreneurship. 37 Leadership Macon Class of 2018 End of Year Opportunities Leadership Macon is a program of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce. Its goal is to provide involved and committed community leaders. Participants will be given the chance to develop an understanding of the challenges and opportunities that face the Macon-Bibb County region. The program is designed to expose highly talented and motivated leaders to issues which will determine the future direction of the area. Class members benefit from a wide variety of experiences along with the network of relationships between the classes.
