2 TRAVEL INDUSTRY SALES Program of Work 2017/2018 ONGOING ANNUAL SALES ACTIVITIES FY 17/18 FY 17/18 FY 17/18 FY T17/18 FY 17/18 FY 17/18 FY 17/18 Familiarization (FAM) Tours / Miami, FL GMCVB will host tour operators and travel agents providing an opportunity to explore and learn about Miami and our partners in a 3-5-day itinerary. Cruise Line Partner Destination Workshops Destination workshops held around the world with GMCVB Representatives and Cruise Line partners sailing out of Miami. Destination Workshops and Training Destination workshops and Seminars are held throughout the world on an ongoing basis by GMCVB Representatives. Territory Sales Call Coverage GMCVB Representatives make weekly Sales calls to update Travel Industry Tour Operators and Agencies throughout the world on Miami. Airline Partners and Tour Operators Destination Training Ongoing destination Training with Airline Partners and Tour Operator for independent Travel Agents and frontline in-house agents. Destination Events & Road Shows with Visit USA and Industry Organizations Destination workshops are held in Country with Visit USA Committee and other Industry organizations in all year. Joint Partnership Community Programs Ongoing participation with organizations sponsoring events which promote and highlight the diversity of Miami as a destination. GLOBAL NOVEMBER /28 11/30 IBTM World (Formerly known as EIBTM) / Barcelona, Spain IBTM World, formerly known as EIBTM, is one of the leading global events in the meetings industry. More than 15,500 meetings, events and incentives industry decision makers from all over the world attend this event. This tradeshow allows the GMCVB to get in front of the meetings industries finest trade professionals and international buyers. MAY /19 5/23 IPW / Denver, CO (Formerly known as International Pow Wow) This is a show is the travel industry s premier international marketplace and is the largest generator of Visit USA travel. More than 1,000 US travel organizations from every region of the country will be present, representing all industry category components. Close to 1,500 International & Domestic Buyers from more than 70 countries will be conducting business negotiations that result in the generating of more than $3.5 billion in future Visit USA travel! Limited to 12 GMCVB members. JUNE /11 6/14 LE Miami / Miami, FL (Limited Edition Miami) LE Miami is a travel industry show which brings together lifestyle-led hotels and travel brands with both leisure and corporate buyers from all over the world. 4 USA & CANADA MAIN TRADESHOWS OCTOBER /1 10/4 Miami Travel Agent Forum Hyatt Regency Miami More than 400 participants attend this trade show last year and they expect even higher attendance when they again host it in Miami. There are a mix of cruise agents and travel agents from all over the US and Canada. Travel Agent training and ship inspections available to the agents. More than 400 agents are expected to attend. 10/3 10/5 NYC Trade Show New York City The GMCVB will participate with the NYC Trade show in New York, including sales calls to high end and entertainment agents in the New York City area. More than 300 top agents are expected to attend the trade show. The focus is on entertainment agents. 10/3 10/7 Canada Sales Mission / Toronto, Montreal & Quebec City GMCVB will conduct travel agent round table presentations in Toronto and Montreal for more than 150 travel agents giving them updates on hotels and attractions in our destination. We will host VIP receptions for Tour Operators in Toronto and Montreal with round table training for nearly 70 tour operators. We will also visit Montreal this year and host a luncheon for Operators and Travel Trade Media. 10/17 10/19 Peninsula Trade Shows Southern California The GMCVB will participate in these round table presentations in San Diego, Ontario and Pasadena, California. We will have the opportunity to meet around agents per city during the road show. 10/24 10/26 Peninsula Trade Shows Northern California The GMCVB will participate in these round table presentations in Sacramento, San Jose and Fresno, California. We will have the opportunity to meet around agents per city during the road show. NOVEMBER /5 11/8 Cruise Planners Annual Conference Cancun Mexico Cruise Planners will host their annual conference in Mexico this year at the Mon Palace. Greater Miami CVB will participate in the Trade show portion of the meeting. 5 11/15 11/17 CruiseWorld Broward County / Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center The GMCVB will participate with a 40-foot pavilion at Travel Weekly s CruiseWorld & Home Based Agent Show at the Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center. More than 800 agents are expected to register for the show. 11/16 11/19 Travel Impressions Best of the Best Conference Dominican Republic GMCVB will participate in this annual best of the best conference for the top producing clients of Travel Impressions in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Trade show and networking sessions are available. 11/27 11/30 Northeast Sales Mission northeast cities The Travel Industry Sales Team will host the annual northeast sales mission visiting four cities in the northeast and hosting a VIP event for top travel agents and tour operators in New York City. Ten members are invited to participate in this sales mission JANUARY /19 1/21 AAA Great Vacations, Columbus, Ohio This is one of the largest travel shows for AAA and thousands of consumers attend this show ready to book their vacation. This program launched in 2009 and the event has grown larger year after year. The show is held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center with more than 100,000 square feet of exhibit space. 1/26 1/28 New York Times Travel Show - New York City, New York The North America's premier travel trade and consumer convention will return for its 15th year in 2018 to the Jacob Javitz Center. The GMCVB will participate with partners this year in the largest premier consumer show in the Northeast. More than 20,000 consumers and 200 trade are expected to attend the show this year. FEBRUARY /9 2/11 Boston Globe Trade Show Boston, Massachusetts This is the only Travel Show in New England that reaches more than 2.8 million readers weekly through The Boston Globe, boston.com, Metro Boston, & Worcester T & G. They expect more than 20,000 consumers and more than 250 exhibitors to participate in the show this year. 2/22 2/24 Toronto Golf Show Toronto, Canada The GMCVB Travel Trade will participate in this annual golf show in Toronto. 4 Member Participation Brochure Distribution Prizes
6 It is the largest gold show hosted in Toronto and has more than 500 golf tour operators and companies who attend. TBA The LA Trade Show / Los Angeles, California The GMCVB will participate with the LA Trade show in Los Angeles including a trade Show and sales calls to high end and entertainment agents in the Los Angeles area. More than 300 top entertainment and top producing agents are expected to attend the trade show. MARCH /6 3/8 Cruise Shipping Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Formerly known as Seatrade) GMCVB in partnership with Port Miami and Miami International Airport will attend this international conference and exhibition serving the cruise industry. This show draws more than 11,000 attendees and nearly 1,000 exhibiting companies from 117 countries and regions. Members wishing to attend should visit for contact information. APRIL /3 4/4 Alliance of Westchester Travel Agents (AWTA) / New York GMCVB staff and partners will participate in their annual fall travel show in New York. This show is a trade show and dinner presentation is attended by More than 200 travel agents. 4/17 4/23 Cruise360, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida GMCVB s Tourism Sales team along with Port Miami, Miami International Airport and GMCVB members will represent and sell the Cruise Capital of the World. Cruise360, the official conference of the cruise line industry, is also the leader in educational training and networking opportunities for cruise industry travel professionals. The conference offers training and professional development seminars, destination and product workshops, hands-on technology training and product updates from the CLIA-member cruise lines. This conference attracts more than 1,400 cruise travel agents globally. Member participation limited to ten members in Miami s Pavilion. TBA Chicago Trade Event Chicago, Illinois The Travel Trade sales team will host a travel agent luncheon and conduct sales calls in several areas of Chicago. 5 Member Participation Brochure Distribution Prizes
7 MAY /2 5/3 LITAA (Long Island Travel Agent Association) New York Annual northeast show with attendance of more than 200 members travel agents. The Travel Industry Sales team will also host a VIP luncheon after the show. 5/7-5/11 Florida Road Show Naples, St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Tampa, Orlando GMCVB will host travel agent seminars and conduct sales calls for key agencies in Florida. We will host a receptive tour operator event in Orlando for key wholesalers. This annual sales mission is very effective in bringing summer business to Miami with all the temptation specials. TBA American Airlines Product Launches GMCVB will participate with American Airlines in two product launches In Los Angeles and Chicago. Exact dates are not available as of today. TBA Go Go/Flight Centre Tradeshows / Northeast GMCVB staff will participate in a trade show and networking events with one of our top northeast Tour Operators, who invite their top clients for educational seminars and a table top trade show. JUNE /24 6/27 IAGTO North American Conference GMCVB Staff will participate in the 10th IAGTO North America Golf Tourism Convention taking place in Central Oregon at the Sunriver Resort. More than 160 golf tour operators from some 35 countries, all selling North America, will attend the Convention. So if developing your domestic or international golf visitor business is important. SEPTEMBER /10 9/14 Northeast Sales Mission northeast cities The Travel Industry Sales Team will host the annual northeast sales mission visiting four cities in the northeast and hosting a VIP event for top travel agents and tour operators in New York City. Ten members are invited to participate in this sales mission. 8 LATIN AMERICA & CARIBBEAN OCTOBER /23-10/27 Central America Sales Mission / Costa Rica, Guatemala & Panama GMCVB and its partners will conduct Destination Presentations and seminars along with one on one meetings with top tour operators and travel agencies in each market and host VIP networking events. 10/28 10/31 FIT America Latina / Buenos Aires, Argentina FIT a four day event that brings travel professionals from around the world and the general public to meet and gather information on new products and services in the tourism sector. NOVEMBER /9-11/12 FESTURIS Gramado / Gramado, Brazil GMCVB will participate in this two-day show. This International Tourism Fair brings together representatives of the tourism sector in southern Brazil. In two days of intense activity, FESTURIS provides the ideal climate to create and develop business opportunities and partnerships that generate solid results throughout the year. DECEMBER /5-12/7 Bahamas Sales Mission GMCVB and its partners will conduct Destination Presentations, Trainings and one on one session with Top travel agencies and host VIP event. JANUARY /29-2/1 Mexico Meeting Planner Mission / Mexico City, Mexico GMCVB and partners will present and promote Miami as a destination for meetings, incentive travel & group to Top MICE travel planners through Destination Presentations and one-on-one VIP networking events. FEBRUARY /21 2/23 ANATO / Bogota, Colombia GMCVB and partners will conduct Destination Presentation and one on one meeting with top tour operators and travel agencies in a travel trade workshop; followed by participation in Colombia s largest tradeshow, ANATO, attended by more than 15,000 buyers and professional visitors. 7 Member Participation Brochure Distribution Prizes
9 MARCH /19 3/23 Argentina & Chile Sales Mission / Santiago, Buenos Aires & Cordoba GMCVB and its partners will conduct Destination Presentations and seminars along with one on one meetings with top tour operators and travel agencies in each market and host VIP networking events. APRIL /3-4/5 World Travel Market Latin America / Sao Paulo, Brazil GMCVB Will exhibit at this show WTM Latin America is the three day mustattend business-to-business (B2B) event which brings the world to Latin America and promotes Latin America to the world. Through its industry networks, unrivalled global reach, WTM Latin America creates personal and business opportunities, providing customers with quality contacts, content and communities. WTM Latin America attracts more than 6,000 influential visitors and 800 exhibiting companies during the three-day event to network, negotiate and discover the latest industry news. 4/23 4/27 Colombia Sales Mission / Bogota, Medellin & Cali GMCVB and its partners will conduct Destination Presentations and seminars along with one on one meetings with top tour operators and travel agencies in each market and host VIP networking events. 11 EMEA (EUROPE, MIDDLE EAST & AFRICA) AND RUSSIA OCTOBER /3 10/5 Visit USA UK Roadshows Edinburg, Liverpool & Reading; England GMCVB will travel with the VUSA Association to three cities and with 100 selected travel agents invited to meet the partners of the association and discover more about their products. This event is being supported by the Tourism Office of the Department of Commerce and will be used as a vehicle for promoting the TV campaign that will run on national TV throughout the UK. 10/10 10/11 Visit USA Ireland Workshop /Cork & Dublin, Ireland GMCVB will participate in Visit USA's annual workshops and have the opportunity to meet with travel agents and update on Miami's latest new offerings. 10/11 Discover America Sweden / Gothenburg, Sweden GMCVB s Travel Industry Sales will attend with the Discover America Association their USA Day in Gothenburg. Anticipated attendance will 50 clients. 10/12 10/14 TTG Incontri / Rimini, Italy GMCVB and its partners will attend this annual travel tradeshow. The GMCVB will have an opportunity to meet approximately 500 Italian travel agents and update the trade on Miami's newest offerings. NOVEMBER /6 11/8 World Travel Market (WTM) / London, England GMCVB and its partners will attend this top UK travel trade show attended by more than 50,000 travel buyers from the UK and Europe. JANUARY /12 1/14 Reiselivmessen /Oslo, Norway GMCVB s Travel Industry Sales will attend Reiselivmessen. Reiselivmessen is Norway s premier International Meeting & Travel Fair and the industry s most important meeting place. FITUR is a global meeting point for tourism professionals and the leading trade fair for the Ibero American markets. The show has more than 9,500 exhibitor companies from more than 160 countries/ regions. 1/18 1/21 Matka / Helsinki, Finland GMCVB s Travel Industry Sales will attend Matka in Helsinki. This Nordic Travel Fair will be attended by 80,000 visitors B2C. 1/31 Visit USA Switzerland Workshop /Zurich, Switzerland GMCVB will attend this annual workshop and have an opportunity to meet approximately 150 Swiss travel agents. GMCVB's in market representative will also call on Miami's main Tour Operator clients during the visit in Zurich. FEBRUARY /23 2/25 Florida s Beaches Partnership at Ferie for Alle / Herning, Denmark GMCVB will be represented by Florida Beaches Partners at Ferie, the largest travel trade and consumer show in Denmark. The show is attended by more than 300 travel agents/media from Denmark, Sweden and Norway plus more than 50 USA suppliers. 3/7 3/11 ITB / Berlin, Germany GMCVB along with its partners will exhibit within VISIT Florida s stand at the world s leading travel trade show. With more than 180,000 visitors, among these 108,000 travel industry professionals and more than 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries. ITB Berlin is the leading B2B-Platform of all tourism industry offers. 3/15 Visit USA Unite 2018 / London, UK GMCVB s Travel Industry Sales will attend the Visit USA Unite The event brings the opportunity to meet UK tour operators on pre-booked one-toone meetings. The anticipate the attendance from nearly 80 delegates from 53 tour operators from the UK. APRIL /16 4/20 Germany-Netherlands Sales Mission / Duesseldorf, Duisburg, Hannover, Frankfurt & Amsterdam GMCVB along with its partners will participate in a 5 city road show in Germany and Switzerland with the objective of meeting the leading German Tour Operators and their USA Product Manager teams. SEPTEMBER /17 9/21 Scandinavia Sales Mission/ Sweden, Denmark & Norway GMCVB along with its partners will participate in a road show with the objective of meeting the leading Scandinavian Tour Operators and their USA Product Manager teams. The GMCVB delegation will provide an update on the overall destination as well as an update on the products of each participating member. This show is the travel industry s leading event for networking, doing business, innovating and keeping abreast of market developments covering all sectors: leisure, business and events. 15 EMERGING MARKETS OCTOBER /25 10/27 ITB ASIA / Singapore GMCVB Travel Industry Sales team will participate in the leading Travel & Tourism even in Asia. MARCH 2018 TBA Brand USA China Sales Mission, Beijing, Shanghai & two other cities The Greater Miami CVB will participate in the annual China Sales mission visiting tour operators with sales calls VIP events and seminars and call center visits in four cities in China. SEPTEMBER 2018 TBA Brand USA India Sales Mission New Delhi, Mumbai and other cities The Miami CVB will participate with Visit Florida on this annual sales mission to India.
