It offers two days of informative seminars, and the opportunity to meet and unwind with other members of HAPA from throughout the state at various social and sports events. There will be a hospitality suite with refreshments available for informal gatherings, compliments of the Big Island Chapter of HAPA. Plan to attend now, and bring your family along to enjoy the social and sports events! Seminars Seminars will be held all day on Thursday and Friday, June 23 and 24, Technical sessions provide substantive continuing professional education, and qualify for 16 hours of CPE credits for CPAs and 8 hours of CE for EAs. Seminars, Thursday and Friday breakfasts and lunches, Thursday billiard tournament with drinks & pupus, and Friday night banquet are included with registration fees. Social and Sports Events Opening Day Golf Tournament - Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at the Volcano Golf Course. Report time is at 9:30 a.m., start time is at 10:00 a.m. Billiards Tournament - Thursday evening, June 23, 2016, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at 808 Billiards. Catering by Pineapples. Golf at the Naniloa Hotel The 9-hole "Naniloa" course at the Naniloa Golf Club facility in Hilo, Hawaii features 2,875 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 35. Designed by Alexander Kahapea, the Naniloa golf course opened in George Lewitzky manages the course as the General Manager. Hotel guests attending the HAPA convention receive a complementary round of golf a day. 7 61st HAPA State Convention Registration Form June 22-25, 2016, Hilo REGISTRATION RULES REGISTRATION FEES: Registration fees include Seminars, Lunches, Thursday Billiards evening with heavy pupus, and Convention Banquet. Early registration forms and payments must be received by May 25, Late registration fees will apply for all registration forms and payments received after this date. HAPA and NSA member fees are available ONLY to paid-up members. Non-member registration fees will apply to delinquent members (unpaid member dues). Golf fees are not included. All convention participants, HAPA members, spouses, and guests are invited to sign up for golf. Saturday Tour is not included in registration fees. SPECIAL CONVENTION REGISTRATION FEE REBATES: In order to encourage attendance by HAPA members who do not live on Hawaii Island, the various island chapters are offering special registration fee rebates to HAPA members only. For information on rebates and rules for obtaining rebates, contact the following chapter representatives: Oahu chapter: Dick Oshima, ph. (808) In addition, to encourage attendance, the Big Island Chapter will be providing a smaller rebate to its members. Big Island members may call Carolyn Lum-Bellem ph. (808) , for information on rebates. CANCELLATIONS: Cancellation notification received prior to May 28 th will be refunded 100% and cancellations prior to June 6, 2016 will be refunded 75%. The refund percentages apply to fees for registration and all other events. Any cancellation received thereafter will not qualify for any refund of the registration fee, extra event tickets, and for golf fees. HOTEL, TRAVEL AND LOCAL TRANSPORTATION: Each participant is responsible for his/her own hotel, travel, and ground transportation arrangements and costs. We have a designated block of rooms reserved at the Hilo Naniloa Hotel. Convention room rates are $118 plus tax per night for run of house rooms, Deadline for booking rooms is May 31, 2016, but you are encouraged to book rooms as soon as possible because of the limited number of rooms in the convention room block. Please work through Frances as our HAPA rooms include various amenities not available to others. Special discounted airfares may be available to HAPA members and their families. These discounts change from time to time and the program offers discounted fares such as 5% off for flights between the mainland U.S. and Hawaii. Use this code to fly to the HAPA State Convention on the Big Island and for any other trips you may take between islands or to the mainland. You will still be able to earn your own HawaiianMiles under this program. Continuing Professional Education Credits for CPAs Seminars on Thursday and Friday provide at least fifty minutes of live instruction for each one hour of CPE as specified in the AICPA/NASBA Statement on Standards for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs. The recommended CPE credits are sixteen hours for CPAs. The seminars are appropriate as live tax and tax update seminars for CPAs, EAs, and other tax and accounting practitioners. No advance preparation is required. 8
