A Message from our President! August was yet another very sad month for the Fagowees. We lost our founder and great leader, Mahloon (a.k.a Dutch) C. Mueller. He succumbed to his fight with heart disease and other complications. He passed peacefully on July 29 th at 1.30 PM. Dutch is survived by his loving wife, Joy, and his daughters, Connie and Sherry, along with several grandchildren. He was an amazing man with a bright idea to start a ski club. Who knew it would develop into something as big has it has gotten. May he rest in peace knowing his Fagowee tribes will live on with his memory and continue the tradition of wonderful friends and trips. While it s still summer time, we need to start thinking ahead to the winter months. There are a lot of really great things happening this fall that we need your help with. The first thing is to remind you that October is Membership Renewal month. Please get your checkbooks ready and your applications filled out. Early birds will get the discounted membership rates before they go up in November. It s really simple to renew at a meeting or through the mail. Please see Membership Chair, Yvonne D. to get that squared away. As I ve told you, I have a goal to get our membership up so please help me maintain the numbers we already have by renewing early. Thank you! Publicity Chair, Rita M., will need your help in October for two really wonderful events. The Boston Mills Brandywine Ski Fair is October Fagowees always have a booth at this event and Rita can t run it on her own. The 2 nd Annual Winter Adventure is being held on the 29 th & 30 th. These are really the months to come out and give back to the club without having a long term commitment of being on the board. If you are passionate about our club and enjoy talking about your experiences, please be proactive and reach out to Rita to sign up now to help her out. She s got some really good ideas about how to build up our Membership base. Who wouldn t like more Fagowee friends? September marks the end of the summer friends. By the time you get this, your fellow Fagowees will be house boating out on Norris Lake. It s also our last informal meeting of the summer at Stampers Grill Pub in Fairview Park on September 6 th. Please come out and have a drink with me before I start working for you twice a month. Show your Euchre skills with Cynthia S. tournament on September 10 th. First and second place will get you paid for winning. Finally, ride with the Skullz on both September 10 th & 24 th. That s it for now. I ve been told by a few of you that I write too much in my Presidents letter. I m sorry but I guess I just have a lot to say about our wonderful club. I ll give you a shorter article this month, but don t get use to it! ;-) Wintertime is just around the corner. Jodi September 2011

Fagowee of the Month! Our FOM for September, has been with the club a few short years, but during that time he has made an impact. He has successfully run the bike scavenger hunt, along with Kelly s Island, and W 25th pub crawls. He has been the go to man for setting up our end of the month Happy Hours. Our FOM is constantly looking for ways to improve and expand our group. He is responsible for having joint happy hours with various Meet Up Groups, as well as the rowing club, that he is involved with. He is one person that everyone in this club can count on to do his share and more... Congratulations to our FOM of the month... Mitch Z. Volunteers Needed! As part of the Boston Mills Open House (October 14, 15, 16) and the Cleveland Winter Sports Show (October 29, 30), the Fagowees will have a table to present information about our club and its activities to prospective members. If you can spare some time to man the booth and talk to people about the club, contact Rita M. at Wednesday Biking on the Tow-Path GO FOR THE BIKE RIDES ON THE TOW-PATH IN THE CUYAHOGA RIVER VALLEY (Then head to a local watering hole after! 4 The Fagowees au naturel 32 people set out for OhioPyle on July 15th to brave the high seas of the Lower Yough... unlike Gilligans Island, we all made it back safely (some injured) but safe. There were many sightings of wildlife in the woods, some tame, some not so tame, and some just plain old clumsy. Water toys were passed out and well used, but for some the urge to push your partner out of the boat was just too strong to pass up. A great time was had by all. We look forward to seeing you on the river next year! PS: Is that really how you make coffee???
Monday Night Biking 1st Monday RRR, Scenic Park Marina 2nd Monday Elyria-Kipton Trail 3rd Monday RRR, Cottonwood Picnic Area 4th Monday Wallace Lake, Ride North 5th Monday Elyria-Kipton Trail For details on the ride, and more info, sign up for the Skullzmailing list. Update on Skullz Ride! We have changed the September 24th ride to the North Bend Rail Trail in West Virginia. We will be driving down Friday 9/23, riding the trail on Saturday 9/24, and returning home Sunday, 9/25. This ride is a Jiffi so you are on your own for transportation, lodging, food, etc. We recommend staying at North Bend State Park in Cairo, WV. Info about the park can be found on their website at including directions and lodging choices. There is hotel, campground, and cabin rental information on their site. Information about the trail can be found at The trail does run through the state park and can be accessed easily from the park s campground. Lights on you bike are a MUST!!! There are several long, unlit tunnels on this trail. You will be in COMPLETE DARKNESS if you do not bring a light! The path is also fairly rough in spots, so mountain bikes are preferred, although you can get away with a hybrid if you have good tires. Don t bring a road bike unless you want to destroy it!

New Date! Friday October 21st
Into the Woods!! On May 14, 2011 over 45 Fagowees and their guests braved the wilds of Ohio City to go Into the Woods on a theatrical adventure. The evening started with dinner at the Lite Bistro. The food was great and the drinks were cold, what more could we ask for to get the evening off to a great start? After drinks and dinner, we adjourned to the Near West Theatre for their production of Into the Woods at St. Pats. The play was overwhelming in its cast (more actors than the population of Rhode Island, enthusiasm (both talent and volume!, and story (adultery, murder, theft, fraud, deceit, revenge, and other juicy plotlines. Who could ask for more! After a very long first act, we discovered that hard seats are needed to get everyone up and moving during intermission. Overall, the trip to Culture Land was a great success. We are all looking forward to next year s outing. A good dinner and good entertainment life just doesn t get any better, unless it s snowing!
