3 What is RamRide? RamRide is a student volunteer run safe ride program run by Off-Campus Life, under CSU. This program provides free, safe, non-judgmental rides home for Colorado State University students with the goal of improving the safety of the Fort Collins & CSU community. To date, we have given over 200,000 rides. In the school year, we gave 29,080 people rides!

7 Normal Nightly Ops Turn on phones at 10:00 pm Pick up receiver, dial #74 and 4 digits next to phone If you hear two beeps, replace receiver Answer in some way that identifies you are with RamRide Ex. Thank you for calling RamRide, how can I help you? Input patron information into the system, hit save Only hang up AFTER you have saved the ride

11 Ride Information Ask where they would like to be picked up We do not pick up from residence halls We CAN pick up from intersections Old Town pickup: Mountain & Remington Make sure address is selected in drop-down menu and hit Enter

12 Ride Information Ask where their home is Only within Fort Collins Do not take to any parties

13 Ride Information Ask how many people are with them 1-3 passengers: Minivan 3-seater 4-5 passengers: Van 5-seater Bikes or dogs: Van 5-seater Any more than 5 people Keep them on the line Create a second ride with a different phone number and name

16 Ending the Call Hit Save before you hang up Inform the patrons that a car will call when they are on their way, so keep their phones on and nearby.

17 Important Be patient with callers It s okay to ask patrons to: Move to a quieter area Hand off the phone to someone sober Repeat anything Be polite with callers

18 Other Information If any patrons call to cancel or change information: Take their name and pickup address Hand to Dispatch Admin If any callers are angry or rude: Hand off to Dispatch Admin If any callers would like to know wait times: Cantech does not give us wait times. We can tell them where they are in the queue. Alternative services are next to your computers

26 Your Responsibility Legal Definition of Standard of Care The watchfulness, attention, caution and prudence that a reasonable person in the circumstances would exercise. If a person's actions do not meet this standard of care, then his/her acts fail to meet the duty of care which all people (supposedly) have toward others. Failure to meet the standard equals negligence TL:DR if you can help, do so. If you didn t, you could get in serious trouble.

28 Party Reporting RamRide is a safe ride HOME Do not drop off at parties Pickup from anywhere except Residence Halls Dispatch will announce an address as a party Write address on whiteboard Tell patrons you can only take them home

29 When to Call 911 Tell patrons to call 911 if they have Suspected alcohol poisoning Serious injuries (blood, broken bones, etc) Or if you are concerned for their welfare at any time Hand phone to Dispatch Admin if they are really scared

30 When to Call 911 Alcohol Poisoning Symptoms Have they become zombified? Passed out, drifts in/out of consciousness Cold, clammy, pale, bluish skin Irregularly slow or shallow breathing <8 breaths/min, 10+ sec between breaths Vomit Especially w/out waking up Cannot walk without assistance

31 DON T Allow patrons to Be dropped off at intersections or parties Be picked up at Residence Halls Turn off your phones until 2 or 3 Be rude to patrons Download any programs onto our computers Be afraid to ask Dispatch Admin for help
