2 Scott Strohmeier grow up in Watkins, MN. He went to Eden Valley-Watkins High School. After high school he want Fergus Falls Community College where he played quarterback for their team. After Fergus Falls he went to the University of Minnesota-Crookston to get his Bachelor Degree in Business Management. He also played quarterback for them. He later went to Concordia University St. Paul where he got his Master s in Education. Strohmeier s coaching career began in 1998 where he was an Asst. coach, a quarterbacks coach and the offensive coordinator at Concordia University St. Paul. In 2004 he took over the same job but at Truman State University. In 2005 to 2007 he became the Head Coach for the North Iowa Area Community College football team and in 2008 he became the Head Coach for Iowa Western. Strohmeier has coach at Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) since His record stands at 46-9 with IWCC and has been: the 2010 & 2011 & 2012 Region XI Champions, the 2010 & 2011 & 2012 Kinney Cup Champions, the 2010 & 2012 Midwest Football Conference Champions, the 2010 Zion s Bank Top of the Mountains Bowl Runner-Up, the 2011 & 2012 Graphic Edge Bowl Champions and he coach a national championship team in This 2012 ACCFCA Coach of the Year has coach 107 former Reivers who went beyond IWCC. 57 of them went to division one schools. Also he has coached a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJ- CAA) Player of the Year Jake Waters. Strohmeier also has coached 93 All Region/Conference Players, 120 Academic All Region, and 6 Academic All Americans. Red shirt Sophomore quarterback Tay Bender is from Lincoln, Nebraska. This season the six foot three, 215 pound quarterback has played in ten games this season and has completed 143 passes out of 241 for 1676 yards and racking up 23 touchdowns with six interceptions. Not only can Bender throw the ball he can also run it. This year he has rushed 69 times for 177 yards for four touchdowns. At starting he is an outstanding 10-0 record.

3 COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA. The No. 2 Iowa Western Reivers (1-0) outlasted No. 6 Butler Grizzles (1-0) in a tough battle against that went to overtime on a cool September 6th night. The Reivers combined for 405 total yards with two passing touchdowns and two rushing touchdowns. The Reivers racked up 13 penalties for 140 yards, while giving up four sacks, losing two out of three fumbles and an interception. The Reivers started the game on a drive that led to a field goal. Then the Reivers scored on a three yard pass from Tay Bender to Taj Williams for a touchdown. The Reivers led the Grizzlies at the end of the first quarter Butler rallied in the second quarter with a 13 yard touchdown run by Michael Gallup but the extra point try by Travis Steenson was missed. The Reivers responded with a six yard touchdown pass from Bender to Andrew Davis and the extra point try by Danny Hamilton was good now the score is Iowa Western 17 and Butler 6. But the Grizzlies weren t done they would score again on a touchdown run by Chris Carson and a two point conversion by Damarcus Smith. At half time the Reivers led the Grizzlies Towards the end of the third quarter the Reivers tacked on a field goal by Hamilton to make it Iowa Western (IWCC) got the ball back quickly on a blocked punt, allowing Anthony Anderson to run it in for a touchdown 31 seconds later to extend the lead to Within minutes of the fourth quarter the Grizzlies started off with a touchdown from Derek Lee to Smith and a two point conversion by Bakari Triggs. Three minutes later the Reivers came back with another field goal by Hamilton making it Butler tied the game going 40 yards on four plays for a touchdown by Smith and a two point conversion good by Derek Lee. In overtime the Reivers defense stopped the Grizzlies drive that went for ten yards on six plays. As the Grizzlies went for the touchdown on fourth down and the Reivers pushed Triggs back ten yards to stop the attack. When the Reivers took over at Butler s 25 yard line they took six plays for 25 yards on a game winning touchdown run by Tyus Mason. Bender led the team in passing with 29 out of 45 passes completed for 283 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Rushing for the Reivers was Lor renzo Pratt who rushed nine times for 57 yards. Williams lead the team in receiving with 10 passes caught for 122 yards and a touchdown. Defensively for the Reivers both Jayme Thompson and Kelvin Rainey led the team with nine tackles each. Thompson and Anthony Brown each had an interception for the Reivers. Mike Edwards and Brown each had a sack. On punt return the Reivers blocked two punts. On special teams Rico Gaffard return two kickoffs for 73 yards, while Reid Bonner returned one punt for seven yards. The next game for the Reivers is an away game against Highland Community College on September 13th in Highland, Kansas.

4 COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa The No. 2 Iowa Western Reivers (2-0) traveled to Highland, Kansas and came back to Iowa with a 41-0 win over the Highland Scotties (1-1) on September 20th. During a rainy week in Iowa the Reivers took every moment to prepare for their first away game. The Reivers defense forced five turnovers (four on interceptions) and 15 punts, blocking two of them. But they failed to turn several of those short fields into touchdowns against the Scotties The Reivers turned in several bright moments. Sophomore running back Devon Paye turned in more than his share. The 5-foot-11, 196-pounder from Columbia, Md., carried 12 times for 169 yards and three touchdowns, including a 90-yarder, the longest rushing score in the program s six-year history. Paye said that 90 yard burst up the middle, which gave the Reivers a 20-0 halftime lead, was his favorite. I ve been waiting for a big run, Paye said. PAYE Paye also had TD runs of eight and 41 yards to go along with that 90 yarder, as he got more attempts after starter Tyus Mason left in the first quarter with an arm injury. I see the end zone and I m just trying to get there. That s all I see. PAYE Paye said about his 41 yard touchdown Defensive tackle Mike Edwards, a 300-pound sophomore from Madison, Wis., separated the defensive charge, collecting five solo tackles and six assists, including two sacks. Iowa Western outgained the Scotties and also was penalized just four times for 55 yards after totaling more than 100 yards in each of its first two outings. Sophomore quarterback Tay Bender completed 17 passes out of 30 for 130 yards and zero interceptions with a 13 yard touchdown strike to Taj Williams. Also Zack Martin passed for the Reivers completing two for five for 36 yards. Paye lead the team with 12 attempts for 169 yards, Anthony Anderson ran for 32 yards on 10 attempts. Also Tyus Mason ran on four attempts for 21 yards, and Alex Hillyer ran 8 times for 17 yards. Taj Williams caught 6 passes for 66 yards, Reid Bonner caught 5 for 39 yards, Charlie Miller caught two for 36, Alex Reed caught four passes for 20, Hillyer caught one for three yards, and Paye caught one for two yards. The Reivers are now 3-0 and the Scotties full to 1-2 on the season. The next game for the Reivers is against Dodge City Community College on September 20th at Titan Stadium in Council Bluffs.

5 COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA The Reivers of Iowa Western (3-0) outscored Dodge City (2-1) on a Homecoming afternoon September 20th. Iowa Western didn t take long to score, 26 seconds into the game quarterback Tay Bender ran for 67 yards and a touchdown on the opening play. Dodge City responded five minutes later with an eight yard touchdown run by Mark Thompson. The Reivers scored a minute later on a 45 yard pass from Bender to Alex Reed making the score 14-7 with 8:02 left in the first quarter. Running back Anthony Anderson would add to the Reivers total with a five yard touchdown run. Taj Williams added more after a 56 yard pass from Bender to Williams to give a 28-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Iowa Western continued to build their lead after Dodge City give up a safety, pushing the Reivers lead A few minutes later Reed caught another pass from Bender for 64 yards and another Reiver touchdown. Iowa Western is up Dodge City would come back with another Thompson touchdown run. At the end of the second quarter its in favor of Iowa Western. Three minutes into the third quarter tight end Andrew Davis caught a 16 yard touchdown pass from Bender. The Reivers scored another touchdown on an Anderson two yard run. At the end of the third it s Iowa Western over Dodge City In the fourth the Reivers added more on a 42 yard field goal and a 37 yard field goal by Danny Hamilton. Ending the game with a Iowa Western win. Passing for the Reivers was Bender who passed five for nine times for 187 yards and five total touchdown (four passing and one rushing). Zack Martin also passed for 71 yards on 16 attempts completing six of them. Bender led the team in rushing on six attempts for 68 yards. Also Anderson rushed 44 yards on eight attempts. Reed led the Reivers in receiving with two passes caught for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively the Reivers forced three interceptions caught by Kevin Robbins who returned it for 22 yards, Charlie Rogers who returned one for 53 yards and Mondo Williams returned one for 19 yards. The next game for the Reivers is against the Panthers of Ellsworth on September 27th in Council Bluffs at Titan Stadium.

6 The Reivers of Iowa Western (9-0) traveled down to Fort Scott, Kansas to take on Fort Scott Community College (4-5) on November 1st. In the first quarter the Reivers didn t wait long to score. They scored in 53 seconds on a 61 yard touchdown pass from Tay Bender to Taj Williams. Fort Scott would come back with a 25 yard field goal by Blayke Linderman making the score 7-3. In the second quarter it went back and forth with no one scoring. After the break Iowa Western scores on a 62 yard touchdown by Devon Paye making the score Fort Scott would give up a safety late in the third quarter and the Reivers would lead at the end of the quarter In the fourth quarter the Reivers scores on a 25 yard pass from Zach Martin to Ronald Nash for a 23-3 led. But the Fort Scott defense didn t give up and got a safety late in the fourth quarter. But the Reivers would pull it out with a 23-5 win. The leading receiver was Williams who caught 8 passes for 139 yards and for a touchdown. On defense the Reivers combined had 35 solo tackles, 79 total tackles, one sack and one interception. Leading the team in tackles was Ford Howell who had 15 tackles. The next game for the Reivers is at Iowa Central in Fort Dodge, Iowa. This game is also a batlle for the Kinney Cup. 7 The Iowa Western Reivers finished their 2014 football season with an 11-0 record. From an overtime win over Butler to a blowout win over Independence. As a team they outlasted the #5 Butler in overtime (OT) and #4 Hutchinson With these wins and the rest of the season wins they continue their 32 game winning streak over the last three seasons. They started this season with a win over Coffeyville were redshirt sophomore Mondo Williams intercepted a school-record four passes, including a 17-yard return for a touchdown on Coffeyville s first play from scrimmage. The Iowa City West graduate also had a 96-yard return for a score nullified by a block in the back. The next week they would host the Bulldogs of Butler. In an overtime battle the Reivers would pull out ahead on a third-and-two from the five yard in overtime, freshman Tyus Mason scored untouched up the middle, giving No. 2 Iowa Western a victory over No. 5 Butler in a meeting of national junior college power houses. In week three the Reivers would travel down to Highland, Kansas where they would blowout them As the final would indicate, the Reivers turned in several bright moments. With a homecoming win over Dodge City Community College in week four and a win over Ellsworth Community College in week five. The next two road games were no match for the Reivers combining for 97 points while only giving up three points. The first road match was against Garden City where sophomore quarterback Tay Bender passed for 293 yards and five touchdowns. The defense for the Reivers would rack up eight sacks and three interceptions against Garden City. There next game took place in Independence, Kansas where they faced Independence Community College. While they blew out them 52-0 they had a total of 442 yards of offense with two passing and four rushing touchdowns. They continued their winning streak with a win over Dupage and a win over the No. 4 Hutchinson The final two games of the 2014 season were on the road, the first one was at Fort Scott Community College (4-6). Where the Reivers looked a little shaky only having 386 yards of total offense. The Reivers would throw three interceptions but win on a couple of safetys by the defense Their final game was against their rival Iowa Central (4-6). The Reivers had a total of 290 offensive yards with two rushing and on passing touchdown. The defense would help a lot with their seven sacks and two interceptions. Finishing their season at 11-0 would earn them a title game once again against East Mississippi Community College (11-0) in Biloxi, Mississippi on December 7th.
