1 GARDENSONG REVIEWS The owner of this place has put tons of TLC into the look, evident from the moment you pullup to the historic home to the look of things inside. We stayed in the Nat King Cole Suite on the first floor, so I can't speak to the property's upper chambers, but that suite was large, luxurious and ever so comfortable. The luxury bathroom was enormous and the king sized four-poster bed was amazing. Check out the "electric" toilet, too. Crazy! You choose breakfast the night before (7:30 or 8:30 a.m. - your choice), leave a paper on the dining room table and the house chef shows up the next morning and gives you a wonderful send off to your day in Natchez. We had great little omelettes. In general, people couldn't be friendlier in this town and that goes for the owner/chef combination here. Location-wise, it's possible to stay closer to the river and therefore be closer to the promenade. But honestly, everything there is to see in Natchez is rather spread out and you're probably using your car to get to all of it, anyway. And with all the free parking around town, it really doesn't matter much where you stay. This is on a quiet street with plenty of parking, a nice neighborhood in which to stroll, but also only a few minutes' drive to the river (you could probably also walk there if the weather was nice, without much trouble). A beautiful property with a nice grand piano in the sitting room, comfy sitting area, a nice little garden and within minutes of Melrose (the Park Service mansion), Longwood (highly recommended) and the waterfront. The best way I can describe it is with the words of the hymn "Surely the Spirit of the Lord is in this place". Dan is a warm, talented and knowledgeable host and shares these talents with all who stay there. And our chef, Kevin, is not only a wonderful cook but when he is not cooking he is a pastor and counselor with a real genuine love for the Lord and all the guests. What a dynamic duo this is! The sun parlor had a small fridge that was stocked with cold beer, wine, and drinks---a very nice touch! Breakfast in the morning was deliciously fantastic. Kevin, the chef, was one of the nicest people we have ever met; a real storyteller and gentleman. My family and I stayed at the GardenSong for a week. We were evacuating from Huricane Irma and my husband had work in Natchez. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. It is more than a bed and breakfast, it is a home away from home. The house is as beautiful as the people who own and run it.the rooms are spacious and cozy, the neighborhood quiet and friendly. It is close to everything within walking distance. Dan is amazing, a very talented musician who plays piano and sings. Taking our minds off the impending storm. My son enjoyed him very much. Watching him do his woodworking and teaching him all about the history of Natchez. Kevin is more than an amazing chef, he is someone you can talk with and learn from. Being in this home is like something out of a movie. The people make it so full of life. Robert the gardener and his wife Cookie also add to this experience with great

3 conversation and helpfulness. Shirley gives great hugs just when you need one most. A lot of the time when you are traveling you can feel a little alone, but not here. This house couldn't be more comfortable complete with new friends and a family. We will defiantly be back and wouldn't stay anywhere else. I can't say enough about the hospitality extended to us by Dan and Kevin. We met as strangers and I feel we left as friends. Although Dan was busy preparing for a photo shoot for a local magazine, he took the time to play the piano and sing for us as well as give us a tour and history of the house. He stayed with us until we were ready to leave for the day. After serving our delicious breakfast, Kevin, too, took time to sit down and talk to us. The house is magnificently renovated and decorated, makes you feel like your living in a decoration-magazine. Every single table, tile and wallpaper has a story to tell. The rooms are large and clean, with beautiful beds and views on the streets. The veranda is perfect for enjoying a drink and just laid back for a while. The garden is

6 authentic, with a very friendly gardener. The breakfast is the best we've had in USA, thanks to kevin, which is an inspirational figure! Last but certainly not least we have enormously enjoyed the host Dan, who has lots of interesting stories to tell about the history of the house and of America in general. He plays the piano, makes great recommendations and can answer all your questions. I would recommend it to everyone, it is so much more than just an amazing place to stay, it really makes you feel at home:) It's worth (much more than) every penny. Thank you for having us! My husband and I spent two nights at the Gardening B&B in Natchez, and what a treat it was! The antebellum home is so quaint, perfectly decorated and very inviting! Our suite was on the first floor (there are three floors) and quite spacious. The bedroom has a canopy bed, a delft tile fireplace, built-in bookcases and a writing desk. The gigantic bathroom has a shower, a separate w/c with a sink, and a large counter in the main bathroom with a sink and large mirror. Breakfast is included in the stay, and chef Kevin prepares delicious breakfasts! Each room has a menu from which to select a breakfast from five options and two breakfast times - 7:30 or 8:30. Since I'm not a big breakfast eater, I ordered the gouda grits and sweet potato muffin. The grits are creamy and perfectly seasoned, and the

7 muffin quite tasty. My husband ordered the traditional breakfast consisting of two eggs, bacon, sausage, grits and sweet potato muffin. He ate every morsel on his plate and was fortified for most of the day. Breakfast beverages include juices and help yourself coffee in the back parlor. The house is clean, inviting and in a perfect location - near the river and main Natchez attractions. The owner, Dan, is very friendly and accommodating as well as quite an accomplished pianist. And throughout the day when our party wasn't seeing the sites of Natchez, Dan played tunes on the piano by request and impromptu. We all shared stories of our families and Dan shared the history of the home and of Natchez itself. Our last night at Gardensong we had a special evening meal prepared by Kevin to celebrate wedding anniversaries and milestone birthdays in our group - what a memorable time. Kevin led us in grace prior to our meal and Dan played the piano with tunes fit for the occasion. The meal was delicious and the memories will last forever. When we departed later Monday morning, we left as family and promised to return. Thank you again Dan and Kevin for such a special weekend. 10 Southern Charm...Not To Be Missed! The previous reviews are amazing & did not disappoint! Dan Gibson is the most amazing Southern gentleman host and the best historian of his home & Natchez! We learned so much about this first settlement on the Mississippi River in the early 1700's! We happened to be there during the Festival of Music (month of May), Dan suggested we attend "From Mississippi to Motown" and found it "top notch". We shall return! Occasional Saturday night dinner is offered, so ask if you are interested. Kevin presented a marvelous selection of hot breakfast entrees to choose from in the morning! From the coffee & tea selections to the restful night & piano concerts during the day by our host, our stay was superb...we shall return! It had been recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed. Not only was the house very pretty and tastefully decorated, but the garden was also beautiful. We looked at several BnB options in the area. We enjoy small formal gardens and the charm of the GardenSong home photos and its gardens appealed to us. Through Airbnb we booked the small suite upstairs. That began a complete new level of enjoyment and rich experiences for our trip. First, we received an almost immediate welcome from the home s owner and host, Dan Gibson. We also had a phone call with Dan that was like talking to a good friend, not just courteous but genuinely warm and gracious. Next, once we arrived, the home and gardens were even more charming and enjoyable than we expected. The moment we walked in the door, the home itself was welcoming and relaxing. The front room included a baby grand piano that Dan played and sang for the guests several times during our stay (no hotel or simple room rental comes close to that extra charm). The small suite of rooms we stayed in was very spacious, period furniture and beds very comfortable, and the house areas so enjoyable that we could easily envision this being a retreat for a much longer stay. In addition to the photos on the GardenSong website, there was much more of the manicured gardens and landscaping behind the home. We enjoyed

We know from experience that it s easy to book some hotel room for a stay but if you want to add an unexpected level of enjoyment for your Natchez visit, GardenSong will introduce you to 2 of the finest people my wife and I have met. Dan, the owner, was the epitome of genteel graciousness. There were several times he gave us and other guests a historical background of the home, which dates back to It has been featured in a number of national travel magazines and books. He also played the baby grand and sang several times for the guests as we relaxed with evening wine or after breakfast with our morning coffee. Dan also plays and sings during weekend evening dinner at one of the major antebellum townhomes/restaurants in the area, Monmouth. Kevin Deason, the chef at GardenSong, prepared 4-star breakfasts each morning that would easily have been a part of any fine dining establishment s menu.
