3 Our Canalside village Ride a bus or take the tram down to our Canalside village where you ll be in good company with our costumed characters who ll share fascinating real-life stories about living and working in the Black Country from the 1890s to the 1930s. Our Anchor Forge was home to Charlie s Yard in the BBC s 1920s gangster drama Peaky Blinders See sparks fly as our chain maker forges a link of chain Visit our Anchor Forge; set in the 1920s it preserves the equipment from the last anchor forge to operate in the Black Country Step inside our full scale working replica of Thomas Newcomen s 1712 steam engine, the first successful steam engine in the world!
