Now how long is it going to take for the cool air to arrive? Hopefully not long. Soon, the rides should be a bit more comfortable and we can start planning longer trips. If anyone has a favorite ride give the ride coordinator a call and he might be able to plan it. We're also looking forward to the return of our northern families (our snowbirds are coming back to roost). Believe it or not we really do miss you guys. We had a busy month, and had great turn out on the 10 th for the Friday Street Fest/Recruitment. We also had a great turnout for the ride to Black Water Inn in Astor. The Chapter made the usual takeover at Jason s Deli during one of our Tuesday night kick-tires. A few Chapter members went to the Region A Rally in Alabama. I am sure they had a great time. We had family problems so Mike and I couldn t attend the Parking Lot Practice on Sept 26. Thought the kick-tire on the 28 th was going to be a washout but those of us that made it had a nice dinner. If this action does not yield sufficient results, cab drivers will be next, followed by DELL, AT&T and AOL customer service reps. Finally, if all else fails, they have threatened not to send us any more candidates for P. It's gonna get ugly, people! 3

4 Safety Educator AND NOW A WORD FROM CAPTAIN SAFETY TIME FLIES WHEN YOU RE HAVING FUN! OUR TRIP TO THE REGION RALLY WAS AMONG THE FUN. GOOD FRIENDS, FOOD, GAMES, AND A GREAT CLOSING CEREMONY WERE HAD BY ALL. WHAT MADE THE CLOSING SO GREAT YOU ASK, WELL WE (PAT AND I) WON A YEAR FREE MEMBERSHIP AND WHICH HELPED PAY FOR THE TRIP. WEATHER FOR THE TRIP WAS HOT! BUT WE ALL STAYED REFRESHED BY HAVING PLENTY OF WATER ON THE BIKE AND IN THE COOLER, AND STOPPING WHEN NECESSARY. WE WERE ON THE ROAD EARLY WHICH WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT RIDING RHYTHMS THERE SHOULD BE SOME GIVE AND TAKE SORT OF MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WHERE EVERYONE CAN GET ALONG. WE DID AND IT WAS SMOOTH SAILING. THE LAST TWO HOURS WERE HOT AND UNCOMFORTABLE. WHEN WE ARRIVED AND GOT IN THE AIR CONDITIONING. WE ENJOYED SEEING ALL OUR FRIENDS AND THE ROOMS WERE AWESOME, VERY LARGE WITH A VE- RANDA OVERLOOKING THE LAKE S BEAUTIFUL SUNSET S. HARRY ANDERSON. THE COURSE TAUGHT A SLOW RIDE, SWEEPING TURNS AND TIGHT TURNS, ALSO THE TOP GUN IRON CROSS, AND A 24 FT CIRCLE. SO DON T MISS THE NEXT ONE IT S A GREAT CHANCE TO PRACTICE YOUR RIDING SKILL S. SENIOR RIDE EDUCATOR S MIKE AND PAT DUQUETTE ASST. RIDE EDUCATOR S RAY AND DIANE MERCIER WHAT MAKES A TRIP LIKE THIS COME OFF WITH OUT A HITCH IS PLANNING, PACKING, T-CLOCK AND KNOWING THE ROUTE. THANKS TO HARRY, THE ROADS WE TOOK WERE RUNNING THRU SMALL TOWNS WITH BEAUTIFUL SCENERY. MO HELPED BY BEING THE DRAG BIKE. I WAS NOT ABLE TO HEAR THE RADIO VERY WELL SO I ROAD IN THE MIDDLE. IT WAS COMFORTABLE AND I HAD A NICE RIDE. WE HAD A NICE TURN OUT FOR THE PARKING LOT PRACTICE ON SUNDAY THE 26 TH. IF YOU WERE NOT ABLE TO MAKE THIS ONE YOU MISSED DOUGHNUTS, ICE WATER, AND A GOOD RIDING COURSE SET UP BY CHARLIE DAVIES, MO DALTON, AND MYSELF. ALSO ASSISTING ON THIS WERE RAY AND DIANE MERCIER AND Do we need a safety article on packing? T-CLOCK CHECK : Tires and wheels, Controls, Lights and electrics, Oil and fluids, Chassis, Kickstand. 4
