The drug operatios, located at 6 Elm St., were brought to the attetio of police i both Northfield ad Frakli by a citize who grew suspicious about activities i two apartmets withi the buildig. Oce sufficiet evidece was gathered, Northfield Police obtaied a search warrat, ad o Ja 16, at approximately 9 a.m., teams comprised of officers from Northfield, Tilto, Frakli, Belmot, Saborto, Merrimack Couty, Belkap Couty, New Hampshire State Police ad the Drug Eforcemet Agecy coverged o the property ad coducted a search of the two uits, Northfield Police Chief Joh Raffaelly explaied i a writte statemet released last week. Methaethiol is a chemical added to propae for safety purposes to give a distict ad somewhat upleasat odor to the otherwise udetectable gas. Besides the commercial portio of the structure, the buildig also icludes five residetial apartmets, which were immediately evacuated alog with the store ad all its occupats. O March 8, seve pairs of dacers will do routies o the Iter-Lakes High School stage before a pael of judges. The wiig team will receive half the show s proceeds for the charity they represet. Dacig with the Lakes Regio Stars started four years ago, orgaized by Laura Brusseau ad Ashley May Halsey. The evet was a fudraiser for a group of Iter-Lakes High School studets to travel to Dever for a Habitat for Humaity project. After the evet, Brusseau said 10 studets were able to travel to Dever for free. As soo as Dacig with the Stars was over, Ashley ad I were iudated with calls, Brusseau said, sayig may people asked whe there was goig to be aother oe. Plaig got uderway for aother evet, this time to raise moey for a variety of charities aroud the Lakes Regio. Each dace team cosists of a local star teamed up with a dace expert to put together a performace. Each of the performaces will be judged by a pael of judges. Supporters will also be able to buy audiece votes for their favorite team. The judges votes ad the audiece votes will be combied to choose the wier, who will receive 50 percet of the show s proceeds for their charity. The remaider of the proceeds will be split betwee the other charities. So far, Dacig with the Lakes Regio Stars has raised 25,000 for several differet Lakes Regio Charities. The Good Dr. Jack says he was goig through a difficult time i his persoal life whe he was workig o the album, ad much of the CD reflects that dark side with sogs of pai ad loss. Yet it also offers hope, ad it challeges listeers to move o after tragedy. The sog that best captures that hope for the future is Hey, Bosto, Fiish the Race Now, which is his tribute to the victims of the 2013 Bosto Maratho bombig. Deeply affected by the tragedy, Jack said he did ot rush the writig of the sog, workig o it for more tha three moths i order to come up with somethig upliftig that would get people back o track. Markelic was bor i Ki, Croatia to parets who were Serbia. They faced a lot of discrimiatio there, though, so we left whe I was two ad a half years old, ad they brought us to the Frakli area as political refugees, he said. The family settled i ad made a life for themselves i their ew home, ad soo had a baby girl, the first ad oly family member to be bor i the Uited States. It s tough sometimes to have o exteded family here, but we re really close, so it s all good, said Markelic. His gradmother visited them oce last summer, though, ad the family has also goe back to Croatia a couple of times sice they left. I got the chace to meet the rest of the family, but I m ot really igraied i the culture over there, he said. What he is igraied i, however, is beig kid ad helpig others. It was ight ad day, said Wiisquam coach Kevi Dame of the two games agaist Gilford. We got absolutely killed o the boards i the first game so we did a much better job toight. The guys kew they were t up to par last game so they were certaily charged up for this oe.
