1 The 2 Seater November 2016 Another Successful Driving Season Yes, another successful driving season is coming to a close. I am reluctant to say this too early as last year we had an extended season. Think back to last year this time, many fair-weather vehicles were on the roads right up to Christmas day and even beyond. Where has, the season gone? We all know our daylight hours are getting shorter, leaves are turning color as the wind whips through the trees while leaves are dropping like the jaws of candy hungry kids on Halloween night. Yes, that s right, Halloween has passed us by already which means we are now getting prepared for our upcoming Thanksgiving feast. Thanksgiving is holiday of family gathering, to some it means spending time in the woods hunting for deer, to others it means driving to relatives, the in-laws or even sometimes the out-laws. Time spent with family and friends chatting and catching up on life and family issues, watching the morning parades on the Telli then football in the afternoon and even into the evening. To some it means a shopping day either purchasing a container of gravy for back up, picking up a few extras as more people are attending dinner than anticipated or yet watching the morning paper for ads looking for that almighty Thanksgiving Day only bargain. Something that pleases me this year that many stores have announced they are finally thinking of their employees having families and decided not to open so their employees can enjoy the holiday such as many others do. Many of our rides get to take a rest the next few months however that does not mean that your club rests during this same time frame. Our annual December meeting is coming up, members bring in desserts to share while our infamous White Elephant gift exchange brings many laughs and smiles to all who attend. January usually brings us to our annual after Christmas party which the location and activities often change year to year. After this we have dinner nights, and pub nights along with other activities to partake in, it s an endless circle of events. We are as active as our members want to be. So come out and enjoy your club s events while we all wait for an early spring. During this upcoming busy and hectic holiday season think what type of events you would like to participate in, we are open for ideas n suggestions. Keep Calm, Drive On. Mike Mastracco

4 Road Trip to Tom Overbaugh's Submitted by Mike Mastracco Sunday October 9th about 16 cars met at Micky D's La Fayette, NY as a gathering point. Cars from the MG Club of CNY, the local region of the Antique Automobile Club of America, VW Club, Pontiac Club and Franklin Club made a trek to the out skirts of Trumansburg. Most of us had our vintage autos from the 1940's to the 1980's. Once we drove deep into the woods we came upon Tom Overbaugh's collection of cars 'n trucks, approximately 40 of them. This is one of two locations he has. Tom and his son Bill greeted us as we enter the pole type barn with hot coffee waiting. He explained that his vehicles are in chronological order from oldest to newest as we make a horseshoe around his building. The first auto I see is a 1906 REO next to a 1908 REO and from here there are Model T's, Model A's, Standards, Packard's, (Packard Darrin, one year build, see pic), Buick's, Kaiser, Corvette and several more brands. These two pictures show the first room in the barn there is a second room farther back in the same building. Tom mentioned to us that almost every car in his collection is maintained and well enough to drive. One car in his collection he drove in the One Lap of America twice. Each vehicle had a information card attached which listed the year, make and a short description of what makes this car unusual or rare, along with options and such. After spending time we were all pretty hungry so a Italian restaurant in Trumansburg took care of us hungry folks.

First, congratulations on their 59 th Wedding Anniversary on November the 16 th. Secondly, Bill and Barbara are celebrating the 100 th Anniversary of the A.W. Kincaid Inc., Well Drilling and Water Systems. The company was founded by Barb s father in Barb & Bill took ownership in The company was passed down to their son Bruce in 1990 CONGRATULATIONS BILL & BARB
6 Another Great Road Trip (Can you beat 2 in one week?) Submitted by Mike Mastracco (again). Thanx Mike Saturday October,15 I was leader of a 20-car caravan from Baldwinsville to the DeRuyter area for a fall trip I do annually. Our first stop was in Marcellus for coffee and a stretch of our legs. Our second stop was Nice 'n Easy in Tully for gas if needed before our jaunt to the woods outside of DeRuyter. Our oldest car was a 1931 Chevy and second oldest was a 1932 Ford, this second stop was for them for gas. Our first attraction of the day was Bill Middleton's memorial to our Vet's. This is something Bill has been working on for several years and it is all his and his wife's doing. He has several flags standing tall, over a dozen statures dressed in a variety of uniforms from the Civil War to current along with several benches to rest on. He also arranged to have a Huey (Bell UH-1 Iroquois Helicopter) on loan from our government. Individuals are unable to own such government property so how Bill gets around this is he leases a small plot of land that the Huey sits on to the DeRuyter American Legion for $1.00 a year. This Huey is on loan to the American Legion but at Bill's location where he lives next door. Our next stop was the Blue Canoe for lunch then off to the Museum of Curiosities that have a real mummy that is over 2000 years old. From here one more rest stop before our final stop at a local church for their annual home style ham dinner. One does not leave hungry from this dinner. A great day overall. (Look familiar to some of our Vietnam Vets) Pretty impressive group of cars Note: You can enlarge these pics by clicking the + in reader or word
