1 FROM THE PRESIDENT November previews the cruel reality of future winter weather ahead. It is a time for most of us to prepare our "babies" for a long nap. It is a time to give thanks for all that we have, and to reflect back on all the fun we had in the summer sun. And what a year it was! November is also the time that we nominate the people that will lead the Cedar Rapids Corvette Club for next year. PLEASE, give serious thought to really getting involved in the future of your club by volunteering for one of the openings. YOU can make the difference between a good club and a great one! As a "seasoned" citizen I have been involved in a great many volunteer organizations in my lifetime. I have worked with the youth in many different projects, I announced high school sporting events for 30 years, was Mayor of Lisbon for 8, and served as a volunteer firemen and chief for about 20 years. I particularly have a great deal of pride when I think of my involvement with other volunteers in their efforts and accomplishments in making a quality fire department. I have a similar pride when I think of this club! So many of you are willing to step up, get involved, and do whatever it takes to make this club the success that it is. You know who you are, so I won't try to name you all. As I write my final thoughts as your President, I am reminded of one of the early President s letters that I read in the memorabilia at our 50 th Anniversary Banquet. It read something like this: "The hardest part of being President of this club is to write these darned letters." You have to have faced the deadline of writing so many words, by a specific date, that sound reasonably intelligent, on a monthly basis to a large group of people to truly understand what he was feeling. Believe me, I agree, but I'm going to make this one easy: It has been a privilege and honor to serve as President of the best car club in Iowa for these past 2 years. Thank you for the ride. It's been a hoot!
