Q13 Is vehicular traffic an issue in the Cedar Manor Neighborhood? If yes, please provide specific locations, time of day, etc. Answered: 72 Skipped: % % 33 Total 72 # Additional Comments (Specific locations, time of day, etc.) Date 1 With the closing of the entrance/exit at the end of West 22nd Lane and the daycare as well, the traffic on our street has vastly improved. The daily softball clinics concern us, especially in the winter. It is difficult to get cars through the parked cars on both sides of the street let alone with snow. Traffic is often way to fast on Flag and cars often blow/glide through the 2-way stop at Flag and Gettysburg. We also worry about the kids playing in the road on Flag. 2 Where we live it is a busy street, so it is understandable that there might be work related traffic in the morning and late afternoon. 3 The intersection at Cedar Lake Road and Texas Ave is often difficult and dangerous, especially during the AM and PM rush hours. 11/17/2016 3:26 PM 11/15/2016 3:22 PM 11/14/2016 9:12 PM 4 Mornings are very busy 11/14/2016 8:29 PM 5 Cedar Lake Road speeding, passing on right. Can be dangerous for bikers 11/14/2016 6:12 PM 6 Narrow street. Hard to get by with parked cars on both sides during good weather. Difficult with snow packed on the curbs. Impossible for fire truck to get down the street. 11/6/2016 8:36 AM 7 Almost any time...way past the speed limit 11/2/2016 4:13 PM 8 1. I wish Virginia Circle had sidewalks so parents didn't have to push strollers in the street. 2. The intersection of Virginia Circle South & Cedar Lake Road is a nightmare at rush hour. 3. Drivers ignore the STOP HERE sign on Texas and Virginia Circle rth, making it impossible to turn in or merge. 9 Since closing the 23rd/22nd frontage road, traffic on Gettysburg, Flag, Cedar Lake Road and the exit to Hwy 169 has gotten worse. The exit from Cedar Lake to Hwy 169 NB is basically a death trap. Closing the frontage road was a horrible idea. I would be interested in knowing how many injury accidents there have been in the area before the closure as opposed to after. Given that the city/mndot could not name any before, I doubt is it getting better. 11/1/ :31 AM 10/30/2016 1:26 PM 14 / 37

10 We live on Burd Place and have only one street light so most of the block is very dark when my middle schooler is waiting for the bus in the mornings. Morning and later afternoon our block seems to be used as a cut through for traffic between cedar lake rd and virgnina. Cars go very fast and since we don't have sidewalks it is not always safe walking in the street. Would love to see a speed monitor box placed on our block sometime, have asked for this in the past but has never happened. 11 Traffic from Mpls Golf Club parking and service trucks on neighborhood street. Entrance onto 169 from Cedar Lake Rd (soon to be corrected) 12 There is frequent congestion in the middle of 22nd Lane with cars parked on both sides of the street, sometimes partially obstructing traffic. 13 On gettysburg, People are always speeding. There are blind corners and cars parked on the street that could pause a hazard. The street is also very very dark at night time. This causes concern to me and my neighbors. 14 only on our exit (cedar lake road exit from 169 northbound) due to weird construction/lack of signage. one knows what to do at that exit and often stop when they don't need to, or fail to yield when they are supposed to. I'm assuming this will change once construction of 169 is underway. 10/27/2016 9:35 PM 10/25/ :36 PM 10/25/ :59 AM 10/24/2016 1:35 PM 10/24/ :41 AM 15 Cedar Lake Road and Virginia Circle South. Extremely busy and very difficult to turn when crossing a lane of traffic. 10/21/2016 9:36 AM 16 Sometimes I feel cars, trucks, etc. drive too fast down the street. We are getting more small children in the neighborhood. 17 Light at the intersection of Cedar Lake Road and Texas, typically at the beginning and end of Middle School days and on their event days. Virginia Circle gets blocked, pedestrian traffic across Texas in the crosswalk is still unsafe. 10/20/2016 8:01 PM 10/20/2016 2:39 PM 18 Cars driving too fast down residential streets. 10/20/2016 2:39 PM 19 The confusing stop sign situation at the intersection of Flag and Club, also the traffic trying to turn left from Virginia onto Cedar Lake is always difficult. Traffic is pretty bad at stopping for pedestrians along Cedar Lake Rd as a rule. When there is the yield to pedestrian signs in the crosswalks it is better - any way to get those on a more permanent basis? 20 Large machinery (backhoes, steamrollers, etc) use Stanlen Road as a shortcut to Cedar Lake Road. This is inconvenient. I work from home 100%, and chose Stanlen Road as it was off the main roads and should be lightly traveled. 21 Mornings from 7 a.m. Thru rush hour and evenings from 4-6:30. There is a lot of traffic and eastbound cars on cedar lake rd are usually speeding because of the higher speed limit in Mtka. 10/20/ :09 AM 10/19/2016 7:49 PM 10/19/2016 6:51 PM 22 Speed is an issue, particularly at night, as there are no street lights in our part of the neighborhood. 10/19/2016 4:23 PM 23 Traffic can move way too fast on Cedar Lake Rd. 10/19/2016 2:58 PM 24 Continual speeding of 45-plus mph on Cedar Lake Road Drivers not observing the two-way stop at Club Road and Flag 25 During the day (approximately 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m.) we have a lot of at times high-speed traffic down Cavell Ave. from the golf course maintenance garage that is located off of the alley at the north end of the block. rmally I wouldn't worry about it too much, but there are a lot of young children that live here and are playing in yards or out riding bikes, and at times I worry a little bit about how fast the maintenance employees are driving. 26 Vehicles not stopping for pedestrians in crosswalk near Westwood Lutheran Chuch on Cedar Lake Road. Traffic on Louisiana, Cedar Lake Rd and Woodale due to 100 Construction project. 10/19/ :11 PM 10/19/ :24 AM 10/19/ :59 AM 27 Texas Avenue is so busy that it's hard to get in and out of the driveway. Plus cars speed so much on that road. 10/19/ :37 AM 28 Speeding on cedar Lake Road is ALWAYS an issue. Additionally, the intersection at Texas and Cedar Lake Road is concern. Neither one of my kids feels (or felt) safe walking or biking to the middle school because of unsafe drivers running lights and not paying attention to pedestrians. 29 Flag Ave S going South towards Cedar Lake. They seem to be hitting top speed by the time they reach my house (2301), doesn't seem to be a specific time of day. Thank you for the addition of the speedometer. 30 The intersection of Cedar Lake Road and Virginia Avenue is a big problem in my opinion. It is extremely busy and I believe warrants a stop sign or stop light to control traffic. In addition, should you live directly on Cedar Lake Road (which I do) it is very difficult to pull out during morning and evening rush hours...those who don't even live in this neighborhood use Cedar Lake Road as a short cut between Hwy. 100 and Hwy I have sat at the end of my drive way trying to pull out for a ridiculous amount of time during these peak hours. Perhaps a stop sign/stop light at Virginia Avenue would help alleviate this problem as well. 10/19/ :33 AM 10/19/2016 9:54 AM 10/19/2016 9:46 AM 15 / 37

31 I would love to see a stoplight at Flag and Cedar Lake Road. Cedar Lake Road is getting busier and busier and there is a lot of traffic coming from Flag road. It is very difficult to turn left or even right. 32 1/2-1 block south of Cedar Lake Rd on Boone. At this curve many vehicles are going too fast. Main offenders are delivery vehicles, young drivers, school buses 33 We often have cars speeding from one end of Virginia Circle to the other. Scary when we have so many children and bicycles. 34 The intersection of Cedar Lake Road and Virginia Avenue is terrible during rush hours. Perhaps a stop light should be installed. 35 I live on cedar lake road and I am concerned with the future road changes for bikes coming in a few years. We have a lot of traffic as is and we need some parking options for those who live on the Main Street. Please consider only making one side a bike lane. 10/19/2016 9:45 AM 10/19/2016 9:42 AM 10/19/2016 9:29 AM 10/19/2016 9:26 AM 10/17/2016 8:01 PM 36 Traffic speeds and Failure to yield to pedestrians on Cedar Lake Road 10/17/2016 2:54 PM 37 Corner of Texas & Minnetonka 10/17/2016 2:49 PM 38 I live on Burd Place and there is no posted speed limit and no sidewalks. People use the road as a shortcut and drive at unsafe speeds around a sharp corner. I often feel unsafe as a pedestrian. Also, people do not yield to pedestrians in crosswalks on cedar lake road. This occurs all times of the day. 39 People driving too fast up Stanlen Road in the afternoon. Periodic Reckless revving up of engines as they travel down Flag Ave that can be heard blocks away. 10/15/ :40 AM 10/14/2016 6:53 PM 16 / 37

Q14 Are nuisance animals, (e.g. barking dogs, individuals not picking up after their animals, at large animals) an issue in the Cedar Manor Neighborhood? If yes, please be specific with locations, time of day, etc. Answered: 71 Skipped: % % 58 Total 71 # Additional Comments (Please be specific locations, time of day, etc) Date 1 Occasionally people will walk their dogs off leash down the railroad right of way or down west 28th St. and not pick up the feces. 11/10/2016 9:22 PM 2 Sometimes people don't pick up after their dogs. 11/6/2016 8:36 AM 3 Roaming cats decimate the songbird population. Do people know it's not legal? p.s. I love hearing the coyotes on the golf course at night :) 11/1/ :31 AM 4 The coyotes are annoying, but since I don't let my pets out of the house, they don't really affect me. 10/30/2016 1:26 PM 5 Some barking dogs. The nuisance comes and goes. 10/25/ :36 PM 6 Barking dog daytime and evening on Cedar Lake Road across from old Cedar Manor School 10/23/ :27 AM 7 When I have gone walking down Flag Ave S I many times find plastic bags with dog poop in them just left laying around. We have a neighbor who leaves their dog run into our yard and sometimes it poops - they do usually clean it up but I still don't care for it - and they know it. t to the point of reporting it at this time. 10/20/2016 8:01 PM 8 Barking dog at the residence behind me off of Club Road. 10/19/2016 7:49 PM West 22nd Lane - They have a dog that barks aggressively, day and night. They frequently let their dog out during the night and it barks loudly the whole time it's out. I have been woken up in the night on many occasions due to this dog's barking. 10/19/2016 4:23 PM 10 Along the alley for Cavell, much barking several times/day. t sure if dog(s) are on Cavell or 25th St 10/19/2016 9:42 AM 11 city council neighbor's cat is constantly roaming outside of their yard. not a big deal unless it's in our garage, etc. 10/19/2016 9:29 AM 12 Frequent barking dog on south side of Cedar Lake Road; West of Flag Ave; East of Jordan Ave/169 exit ramp 10/17/2016 2:54 PM 17 / 37

13 SE corner of Texas/Cedar Lake Rd. Poor dog is locked out all day regardless of weather and he barks at any movement in surrounding yards. Also, he runs out of water. 10/17/2016 2:49 PM 14 Neighbor who has been reported & still does not comply. 10/17/ :34 AM 18 / 37

Q15 Are disturbing parties or other noise complaints an issue in the Cedar Manor Neighborhood? If yes, please provide specific locations, time of day, etc. Answered: 71 Skipped: % % 66 Total 71 # Additional Comments (Specific locations, time of day, etc) Date 1 west 23rd cul-de-sac loud vehicles at all hours of the day 11/14/2016 6:31 PM 2 My neighbors are considerate when they give parties. 10/30/2016 1:26 PM rd St. I think most officers are aware of the individual and activities at this address. He (and his visitors) are a constant irritation for Cedar Manor and specifically those in the cul-de-sac. I do appreciate that it sounds like there are things happening behind the scenes on this, but if it's possible to provide updates, statuses or anything to put us at ease (and not think about moving), that would be helpful. 10/19/2016 9:54 AM 4 Someone who lives on Virginia Circle has a loud (or broken) muffler on their car. 10/19/2016 9:26 AM 5 Only noise complaint is increasing airplane disturbances 10/17/2016 2:54 PM 6 t on Burd Pl 10/17/2016 2:49 PM 19 / 37

Q16 Is parking an issue in the Cedar Manor Neighborhood? If yes, please provide specific location, time of day, etc. Answered: 70 Skipped: % % 57 Total 70 # Additonal Comments (Specific location, time of day, etc) Date 1 West 22nd Lane. I am not sure of the house number, but they have girls softball practice and clinics nearly everyday and the parents park on both sides of the street and sometimes overlapping driveways. What I think makes it even more annoying to my husband and me it that he is basically running a business out of his home. This is his premier girls softball team and he runs it 12 months out of the year. 11/17/2016 3:26 PM 2 Only on Sundays when the church parking lot spills over onto the street, but it does not bother me. 11/15/2016 3:22 PM 3 Sometimes. Boone Ave S from Cedar Lake Road is narrow in places. 11/14/2016 8:31 PM 4 See question Xylon Ave. Any time of day. Have some who completely ignore the park on one side request. 5 Parking on half of Flag is now prohibited, but it is still pretty narrow for the extra traffic now that the frontage road is closed. I'm not looking forward to climbing Gettysburg when it gets icy. 11/6/2016 8:36 AM 10/30/2016 1:26 PM 6 On Cavell in the summer from Mpls Golf Club employees 10/25/ :36 PM 7 See number /25/ :59 AM 8 On 22nd lane in the middle of the block. Late afternoon and early evening, both sides of street have cars parked, waiting for kids at batting practice. They are sometimes blocking the street as they're talking to each other and are reluctant to move so cars can drive down the street. 9 At times as neighbors don't always respect the driveway access--one morning couldn't find who owned car blocking my driveway. Police moved it. 10 It is a bummer that no on can park in front of my house due to narrowing of the road. Also, the new bike lanes on Texas changed the parking. Ditto on Flag. 11 I think there are a couple of houses in our neighborhood that park in the street for longer than is allowed (one house has a car that never moves) but the roads are wide and there is little traffic, so it's not much of an issue. 12 It stinks thay now there is a bike lanes we are not allowed to park on the street and the neighbors across the street take up all the parking we would have access to. 10/20/2016 5:35 PM 10/20/ :06 AM 10/19/2016 6:51 PM 10/19/2016 4:23 PM 10/19/ :37 AM 20 / 37

13 The switch to having parking on one side of the street has been interesting and helpful for the flow of traffic. 10/19/2016 9:54 AM 14 occasionally cars are parked on both side of the street. when this happens it's especially important that we don't have speeders. 15 On Flag Ave, we are happy to see the " Parking on this side of Street" go up. Parking has improved greatly since posted. Giving emergency vechiles space. 10/19/2016 9:29 AM 10/18/2016 9:08 AM 16 On 28th Street near intersection with Jordan Ave combined with tree on corner blocking "visability triangle" 10/17/2016 2:54 PM 17 t on Burd Pl 10/17/2016 2:49 PM 18 Houses near the west end of Stanlen Road - there is constant on street parking by residents who have more cars than their driveway will fit during the morning and evening/nighttime hours, even in the middle of winter. Would love to see more parking ordinance enforcement when it interferes with street sweeping and snow plowing. 10/14/2016 6:53 PM 21 / 37

Q17 Is graffiti/property damage/vandalism an issue in the Cedar Manor Neighborhood? If yes, please provide specific locations, time of day, etc. Answered: 71 Skipped: % % 69 Total 71 # Additional Comments (Specific locations, time of day, etc) Date 1 Though the "visual barrier" on the former frontage road is starting to look tatty. It should be repainted/refinished/something. 10/30/2016 1:26 PM 2 I've heard/seen reports of theft and break-in attempts 10/19/ :26 AM 3 We've had multiple episodes of vandalism to our cars (4 or 5 total) parked in our parking spaces in our alley here on Cavell Ave S 2400 block since we moved in in Last time was 2 years ago. Alley is very dark - no street lights. We do have a motion sensor light now.our block also has no street lights in the middle of the block, only at ends. So the street is very dark at night. Our front light is therefore ALWAYS on at night. 10/19/ :59 AM 4 t on Burd Pl 10/17/2016 2:49 PM 5 In August 2015 we had minor property damage done by a Century Link subcontractor. This was reported to the police but nothing came of it. Otherwise this has not been a problem. 10/14/2016 6:53 PM 22 / 37

Q18 Is drug activity an issue in the Cedar Manor Neighborhood? If yes, please provide specific locations, time of day, etc. Answered: 70 Skipped: % % 66 Total 70 # Additional Comments (Specify locations, time of day, etc) Date 1 t that I'm aware of although I heard there was drug activity in the parking lot by the Lutheran Church on Boone Ave S and Cedar Lake Rd. 11/14/2016 8:31 PM 2 Unknown 11/14/2016 6:12 PM 3 I'm sometimes suspicious of the east paring lot of Westwood Lutheran Church, visible from my living room, when two cars meet side by side. In fact, one day I observed police action by two such cars (I think drugs may have been involved.) It was in daylight-afternoon. 11/2/2016 3:54 PM 4 t to my knowledge 11/1/ :31 AM 5 Sometimes I wonder about the parking lot by the pond on Virginia Ave by the bike trail. See cars often going in and out or parked there at night. 6 In the Westwood church parking lot, down by Boone Ct, there is some questionable activity - it has been drugs in the past. I try to call when I see something and it seems to be less than in the past, but still occurring. Often I will see beer bottles or other litter in the woods right at the edge of the parking lot. 7 We typically don't notice anything but know that a raid was carried out on a house on our block a few years back for meth distribution. 10/27/2016 9:35 PM 10/20/ :09 AM 10/19/ :59 AM 8 t that I am aware of. 10/19/ :33 AM 9 t on Burd Pl 10/17/2016 2:49 PM 10 Have noticed activity along railroad tracks. 10/17/ :34 AM 11 way of knowing the truth but I do not perceive any drug activity. 10/14/2016 6:53 PM 23 / 37

Q19 Are thefts, (e.g. theft from vehicles) an issue in the Cedar Manor Neighborhood? If yes, please provide specific locations, time of day, etc. Answered: 68 Skipped: % % 53 Total 68 # Additional Comments (Specific locations, time of day, etc) Date 1 We have had bikes, a power washer and even garden art stolen from out driveway/yard. The bikes and the power washer have been reported. 11/17/2016 3:26 PM 2 I have heard that there have been some car break ins in the past few months. 11/16/2016 9:55 AM 3 Rumor has it houses and cars have been broken into, but we have not had anything happen at our place. 11/15/2016 3:22 PM 4 t sure 11/14/2016 8:29 PM 5 Have had footprints around my locked vehicle in the winter, but didn't break in. They did break into neighbor's vehicle. this was a few years back however 11/14/2016 6:31 PM 6 We had one case where someone in the last year stole things from unlocked vehicles up and down West 28th St. 11/10/2016 9:22 PM 7 Don't know. 11/2/2016 3:54 PM 8 t to my knowledge. 11/1/ :31 AM 9 I have heard from neighbors that this goes on alot in our area. I have never been victimized. 10/24/2016 1:35 PM 10, not personally 10/23/ :27 AM 11 Occasionally cars are broken into in driveways in the middle of the night. 10/20/2016 2:39 PM 12 Only in specific batches. I think often overnight. 10/20/ :09 AM 13 Around the time our garage was broken into this summer, neighbors also mentioned thefts from cars in the area, but I do not know details. 10/19/ :22 PM 14 Just what I read on Next door. Seems like someone rifling thru cars at night. 10/19/2016 6:51 PM 15 I don't know...i believe that there have been thefts but I have no specific details. 10/19/2016 4:23 PM 16 July 14, 2015 our car was stolen out of our driveway. It was recovered later that evening in the Mpls impound lot. 10/19/2016 3:19 PM 24 / 37

17 Have heard of some but I don't think it's generally a large issue. 10/19/2016 2:58 PM 18 see above 10/19/ :26 AM 19 We've had multiple instances of someone going into our vehicles at night while parked in our back parking spaces in the alley of 2400 Cavell Ave S. We tend to leave cars unlocked with nothing in them to steal. If we lock them, then they get vandalized - broken rear windshield, 2 slashed tires. 20 We had a break in on our street during the day. A neighbor had her purse stolen out of her car that was in her garage. I am more careful about locking doors when we are home. 21 A neighbor had his car stolen out of his driveway several months ago (Off Flag Ave). The car was located and returned, but this is still a concern for us. 10/19/ :59 AM 10/19/ :33 AM 10/18/ :40 AM 22 Several breakins and thefts in the past year around my area. 10/17/2016 8:01 PM 23 t on Burd Pl 10/17/2016 2:49 PM 24 Items stolen from garages in area. 10/17/ :34 AM 25 I've heard of the occurrence but have not had it happen to me 10/15/ :40 AM 25 / 37

Q20 Is suspicious activity, (e.g. vacant properties, juvenile concerns, loitering, disturbances) an issue in the Cedar Manor Neighborhood? If yes, please provide specific locations, time of day, etc. Answered: 71 Skipped: % % 62 Total 71 # Additional Comments (Specific locations, time of day, etc) Date 1 We have had suspicious people walking through yards and between homes. It is too bad that the liaison with DARE is a time limiting position. It seems his time ended just as he was hitting his stride! 2 is probably best, but sadly I think this question just reminds me that I am part of the problem. 36 Q25 Please type any additional comments, concerns, or suggestions you may have for the St. Louis Park Police Department. Thank you. Answered: 27 Skipped: 45 # Date 1 All of my dealings with the SLP PD have been great. From Dispatchers to Officers to CSO's. We are very fortunate to have such a great Department. Thank you for all of the work you do! 11/17/2016 3:26 PM 2 The police do a great job in our neighborhood and the city. 11/10/2016 9:22 PM 3 no problems here - you seem to be doing a good job - thanks 11/5/2016 1:21 PM 4 I'm always glad to see the police cars swing thru the neighborhood & church parking lot, to keep an eye on things. 11/2/2016 3:54 PM 5 St. Louis Park is really well run, and we appreciate that every day. Thanks for all you do. 11/1/ :31 AM 6 It's not really a police concern, but you may have noticed that I abhor the closure of the frontage road just rth of Cedar Lake Road. 7 I would like to see more information sharing about how the SLP PD is trained for avoiding and addresses possible cases/culture of racial bias and discrimination. 8 We are raising our family in Cedar Manor neighborhood and this summer there have been some close calls with people driving over the speed limit on gettysburg. There is no sidewalk. There is a bend in the road where a car is always parked which makes for some tight squeezes at times. Please help us figure out a way to feel more comfortable with walking through the neighborhood with our family. Has the city ever considered speed bumps? 9 I would really like more education to the drivers in the neighborhood about bike safety- I've literally been screamed at and threatened for riding my bike legally in the road. 10 Cedar Manor, and indeed, St. Louis Park, on the whole is a pretty nice, safe community. However, with all the recent traffic stop killings around the country...and despite being white, middle aged, and suburban...i would not feel very safe at a traffic stop. I feel it would go a long, long way for police PR if you came out with some kind of statement about what you intend to do to handle traffic stops differently so that this does not happen in St. Louis Park. Thank you so much. Overall, I appreciate everything you do...but I would be infinitely more proud if you could tackle that issue. 11 I have lived at 6 different addresses in 60+ years in St Louis Park. Personally, I have felt safe during this time. I have seen many changes during this time. There is much more diversity in the city now. This is one reason we continue to choose to live here. This is the real world. I do see areas in the paper that have a high concentration of police calls. That is a concern for me. 10/30/2016 1:26 PM 10/24/2016 7:35 PM 10/24/2016 1:35 PM 10/24/ :41 AM 10/23/2016 7:41 PM 10/21/2016 9:36 AM 12 Thank you for all of your efforts! 10/20/2016 2:39 PM 13 I have appreciated the outreach you guys have been doing the past few years. I really liked going to the neighborhood meeting. We were one of the first and I feel like it caused me to sign up as a block captain. I think it would be much more attended now if it happened again. I hope there are plans to continue to do those - making connections in the community are really important and helpful. Our neighborhood has gotten stronger because of that meeting and is a TON more connected because of information I learned at it. Thanks for all you do! 10/20/ :09 AM 14 I am very satisfied with the limited contact I have had with the police. 10/20/ :06 AM 36 / 37

15 Only what I've already outlined. Third parties (road construction, building contractors, etc) need to stay off Stanlen Road unless they are doing work specifically on Stanlen Road. It's a nuisance big time having them rumble down the road when I'm attempting to write code, listen to a conference call, etc. 16 I think our POLICE DEPT does a great job protecting our community. complaints, however I am very grateful for their service. And they do it even though I imagine their job is thankless. 10/19/2016 7:49 PM 10/19/2016 6:51 PM 17 Thanks for all you do! 10/19/2016 4:23 PM 18 The police officers that we have encountered have always been friendly, and always answer our 4-year-old daughter's questions about their job which we appreciate! I would never hesitate to contact the police department because all of the interactions I have had with them thus far have been very positive. Thank you for your hard work! 19 Our issues with vehicles typically happens in late summer/fall and every other year or so. About 4-5 instances since we moved in in Snooping through the car's glove box, contents left onto the passenger seat (2-3 times), 2 tires slashed, rear windshield stabbed with a screwdriver. instances since August of Police have said both lock the car doors and leave them unlocked with nothing in them. either way there's been a problem - so we tend to leave them unlocked and empty, but still had the broken windshield two summers ago - like they were mad that they didn't get anything from us. We have a motion sensor light, a big dog and a surveillance camera sign posted (no actual surveillance camera in operation though) so that seems to be working so far. 10/19/ :24 AM 10/19/ :59 AM 20 I love our city and the services it provides. Thank you for all that you do to help ALL citizens in our community. 10/19/ :33 AM 21 As I mentioned above, I think this survey is a good starting point to get to know the people of this area. That being said, I've noticed a lot of chatter on Nextdoor.com by people who seem bent out of shape for no really good reason. I think fear is something being blasted at us from all angles 24/7 and communities are now, more than ever, on high alert for "suspicious activity." It would be great to try to assuage that fear and replace it with, friendship, love, respect (and all that hippy shit). I don't know how this can be done. Maybe showing graphs and charts of reported activity vs actual crime. Or just running down what has happened in the last 6 months, 3 months, 1 year, what have you, on a public platform. Again I'm new to the area and I have no complaints (other than some of the dramatic rantings of self important people). Apologies if this is unhelpful. 22 I have appreciated the contact I've had with the SLP PD thus far. The officers have been very professional and friendly - my sons and I always wave when they drive by. 23 The pedestrian crossing sign at the intersection of Cedar Lake Road and Virginia Ave is an effort in futility without a stop sign/stop light. For starters, it confuses some drivers and they stop when not necessary. More importantly, If I'm driving 30mph I may not necessarily see a person/biker/stroller waiting on the corner and the new rule of thumb seems to be start walking, cars will stop. What happened to look both ways before you cross the street for crying out loud!!! I narrowly missed a women crossing the street at night, wearing all black...i didn't see her. C'mon, common sense needs to prevail here. If I had hit that woman it would have been my fault when in reality chances are she could see my headlights far better than me seeing her. Lastly, if the bikers insist on using the lanes in which I drive then I would expect them to follow the same rules of the road that I do. Meaning, if I have a stop sign/light and have to stop...they do too! More often then not they slip right by and speed off. Seriously! Once again, I would be held accountable should I accidently hit one of these bikers. I had an incident with a biker who was biking down the center of Cedar Lake Road, I lightly honked my horn and was given the finger and a few well chosen cuss words in return. Nice!!!! I have no doubt there has already been debate regarding the aforementioned intersection in the past...something more needs to be done for the safely of all. Many thanks to all the men and woman who serve our community...the job you do is beyond difficult. Thanks for waking up every day and doing what most of us couldn't or wouldn't do...i am grateful!
