I only hope the weather is as beau ful as today. John is having his tune up on the 29th and once again I hope for good weather. A er discussion at the April Tech mee ng, a vote was taken and the membership will not host the MARC 2018 Membership Mee ng. Please put May 3 on your calendar for our next tech mee ng. I will not be able to make it but I am sure our officers will be available to handle the program. Dan asked that everyone come hungry as his wife loves to cook. I am looking forward to ge ng my A out for a drive, and the nice weather is causing much anxiety over spending so much me on spring plan ng. See all of you out and about. Monroe

2 Date: Time: Place: Topic: May 3, :00 PM Dan and Kathy Bickley's Gorsuch Road, Galena Stan Prior will give a short presenta on on the use of the Model A engine in airplanes. We will also do Model A Clutch and rear axle repairs on Ellis Kauffman s car. We intend to remove the rear axle, transmission, clutch, and pressure plate. Then we will replace the clutch and pressure plate, check the rear axle for a problem and - fixing that - re-assemble the Ford so he can drive it home. Wear some old clothes and expect to be turning wrenches. Educa on for all, and hopefully you will learn something Parking will be on the front lawn, with the front row reserved for Model A's only...all other vehicles park behind the Model A row. Sandwiches and chips will be served, so bring your appe te! Be sure to bring a chair for the mee ng. May Tour Date: Saturday May 20, 2017 Time: Depart 9:15 AM from in back of Bob Evans SR 256 and SR 204 Pickerington. Our trip will take us across scenic Route 204. It is about 50 miles. If your A isn t ready for the trip, feel free to come modern. Ac vity: Alan Co rill Sculpture Gallery in Zanesville. This is a unique opportunity to see how they make brass sculptures. We will have a tour of the facility and a visit with the sculpture himself. We will receive an explana on of how they make the sculptures from the clay model to the molds. Among the sculptures he has done, is the new Edison statue represen ng Ohio in the Congressional Hall of Statues in Washington DC. We will also tourhis gallery. Cost $5/person. 3 Other Possible Ac vi es 29 Worthington Memorial Day Parade 2017 Club rosters are now ready. They will be available at the tech meets and tours. A revision of the pdf file will be ed soon which contains some correc ons. They have a 1930 Coupe and a 1931 Dlx Roadster spread across the garage. (We all can relate to that.) 3

4 Dick Liston The Scioto Model A Ford Club spotlight for the month of May is shining on Dick Liston. Dick and his wife Pat are the proud parents of 3 boys and 4 girls. Add to this 9 grandchildren and a 1 year old great grandchild and we have the poten al for a lot of future Model A enthusiasts! Following gradua on, Dick began his career with Jeffery Manufacturing, moving on to Buckeye Truck Body and then spending 38 years with Sutphen Corpora on before re ring. Dick is the owner of a beau ful 1930 Model A Coupe and seems to win trophies at every show he a ends. Over the years, he's restored 13 Mustangs, Camaros and Thunderbirds. Dick joined our club 2 years ago. However, he was a member in the late 1950's as well. In terms of other hobbies, Dick has a Lionel train collec on. Un l a couple of years ago Dick built and flew radio controlled airplanes. In fact, he s ll has 12 on hand, just in case the bug bites him again! If you haven't had the opportunity yet, take a moment to chat with Dick at one of our mee ngs or tours. He has a great deal of knowledge to share and is a welcome addi on to our Club. 4

8 Early Glidden tours used a confe car to provide direc ons. They would throw out shredded paper as a trail for the cars to follow. Needless to say, it could blow away, and was a mess if it rained.
