3 Celebrate Easter at the Library with coloring, plastic egg craft and Easter stories. Free Event! Children of all ages and families welcome. Friday, April 19, 2019 Morning session 10 am Afternoon session 4 pm American National Bank 920 Central Avenue Basement Level The York College Traveling Children s Theatre Presents: The New Clothes King and the Bandit Queen Saturday, April 20, :00 pm Nebraska City Middle School Fun For All Ages Admission is Free The play is a retelling of the Emperors News Clothes with a twist. King Henry is bankrupt, and he has one bag of gold left. A couple of swindlers have come to take the last of his money, pretending to be tailors who will make him a new wardrobe, an invisible wardrobe that only intelligent people can see. No one in the kingdom wants to admit that they cannot see the clothes as this would mean they are stupid. Queen Charlotta has convinced King Henry to marry her because she is in love with him and because she thinks he is rich. King Henry has agreed to marry her because he thinks she is rich. Both of them find out the truth about the clothes, the money, and their love in the end. The play is written by Edith Weiss and directed by John Baker.

5 You are invited to join the Morton-James Public Library Book Club. NOTE: Book Club meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 2:00 pm. The following books will be discussed in the coming months. Some of the titles are available in both print and CD. They may also be available as an ebook through OverDrive. April 16, 2019 May 21, 2019 Whistling Past the Graveyard by Susan Crandall Discussion Leader: Judy Vann Whistling past the graveyard. That s what Daddy called it when you did something to keep your mind off your most worstest fear. In the summer of 1963, nine-year-old Starla Claudelle runs away from her strict grandmother s Mississippi home. Starla s destination is Nashville, where her mother went to become a famous singer, abandoning Starla when she was three. Walking a lonely country road, Starla accepts a ride from Eula, a black woman traveling alone with a white baby. Now, on the road trip that will change her life forever, Starla sees for the first time life as it really is as she reaches for a dream of how it could one day be. Whistling Season by Ivan Doig Discussion Leader: Jan James Can't cook but doesn't bite." So begins the newspaper ad offering the services of an "A-1 housekeeper, sound morals, exceptional disposition" that draws the hungry attention of widower Oliver Milliron in the fall of And so begins the unforgettable season that deposits the non-cooking, nonbiting, ever-whistling Rose Llewellyn and her font-of-knowledge brother, Morris Morgan, in Marias Coulee, Montana. When the schoolmarm runs off with an itinerant preacher, Morris is pressed into service, setting the stage for "several kinds of education"-none of them of the textbook variety-morris and Rose will bring to Oliver, his three sons, and the rambunctious students in the region's one-room schoolhouse. You may reserve library material online, in person, or over the phone. The key to providing Library members with the best possible customer service during the time the Library is at the Temporary Location will be using the reserve feature in the Library Catalog. Log in to your library account in the upper right hand corner of the library card catalog screen: From there you can search for items and place them on reserve. The Library will notify you when your items are ready to be picked up at the Temporary Location. You have three days to pick up your reserved items from the day you are notified. Library staff can also put the items on reserve for you in person and over the phone. We want to provide you with all your Library resources in a timely manner. Please keep in mind it may take Library staff a minimum of 2 days to fill your reserve request while we are in the Temporary Location.
