1 March 2019 Vol. 25, No. 3 From the President s Pen By Julie Figg I don t know about you, but I am looking forward to Spring! The chapter has planned plenty of activities for the upcoming year so you can get out and enjoy the longer days and warmer weather. Take a look at the trails workday schedule, pick one or two, and plan on participating! Taking part in a chapter workday is a perfect opportunity to connect socially with other club members. There is nothing like sharing a day outdoors with a volunteer BCH crew and getting to know folks you have seen at meetings. Public lands could sure benefit from your effort as well. If an outdoor workday is not your cup of tea, the tack sale is right around the corner. It is the club/community event that is not to be missed. Come volunteer, even if for a couple of hours. Your help is always appreciated and needed! On another note, Colorado Back Country Horsemen, in partnership with the Front Range BCH, has scheduled a weekend rendezvous. All chapters are invited to take part in a weekend of camping and riding. The dates are August 16-18, and the location is in Gunnison National Forest. Details will be posted in the May Highline with sign-up information. Membership Meeting March 21, 7:00 PM Florida Grange Program Steve Rodrigues, farrier All about hooves 4CBCH Tack Sale By Don Kell It s March. That means our annual Tack Sale, our largest fund raiser, is just around the corner. Are you ready? Ask yourself these questions: Am I a chapter member in good standing? Have I renewed my membership? Membership in a BCH Chapter is required if you want to volunteer, after all, this is an official Chapter event. Have I asked for time off from work to ensure I am available to help the 4CBCH with their biggest event benefiting our equine community? Have you reached out to the team leader you wish to volunteer with at the sale? Consignment check-in, cashiering, security, merchandising all need your assistance. Have you gone thru your tack room and cleaned up all the tack you ll be consigning at the tack sale? Have you made room for all the new tack you will be bringing home after the sale? What about that second mortgage you ve been thinking about? Time it right and you ll be able to afford more new used tack at the tack sale! All jokes aside, our annual Tack Sale is a success because of our volunteers. Yes it is a lot of work, but it is a lot of fun too! You get see old friends, talk horses & riding plans, and catch up after a long winter.
