2 VENTURE COPE CAMP SCHEDULE FRIDAY April 21 (Optional) 4 pm - 7:30 pm Unit Arrival and Check-in Tent camping Units provide their own dinner Friday night 8:00pm Leadership meeting for all attending 8:30pm Campfire for all units and participants snacks 10:00pm Lights Out SATURDAY April am Breakfast provided (Egg sandwiches) 7:30 Unit/Individual Check In begins 8:00 am Flag Ceremony at Main Flag Pole 8:30 Participants meet COPE staff at COPE Shed 9-11 am Team building initiatives and low cope activities (group organized into smaller teams) 11-1:30 lunch break and other activities Lunch provided sub sandwiches 1:30-3pm High Adventures activities (group organized to teams) 2 teams go into canyon for climb/rappel 2 teams go to high cope 3-3:30 switch/restrooms 3:30-5 High adventure activities round 2 5-5:30 closing 6 Flag Retreat 6:30 Dinner provided Pizza 8:00 VOA Leadership Orientation 8:30 Campfire and social 10 pm Lights out

Safety: * Call 911 for serious emergencies * BSA Health History & Release required for all participants (Part C is NOT required) * Consent forms required for COPE and Rappelling download at registration link

5 EVENT DISCRIPTION The purpose of the COPE Camp is to provide your youth leaders and adult advisors the team building, problem solving, leadership development experience of COPE instruction and rappelling challenges under expert supervision. Also, leadership training and networking experience related to Council and District Venture Officers Associations, which will facilitate coordination between Crews to enhance opportunities for leadership, teamwork and outdoor adventure. Overnight Camping A Venture Crew may camp overnight at the Heard Scout Pueblo in an assigned campsite Friday and/or Saturday. A specific campsite will be provided for female crew members and guests, with appropriate adult chaperones. All gear is the responsibility of each unit. Venture crews are encouraged to socialize during free time and participate in the leadership and campfire activities. COPE or Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience, is a professionally taught team-building and problem solving challenge that includes obstacle course activities. Nothing could be better for building enthusiasm and skill in a team with new Venture Scouts. The two-hour introduction experience will be offered in an 8 AM morning session, a 10 AM session, and again at 1 PM and 3 PM on Saturday. Signup is limited to the first 40 participants. Rappelling Rappelling instruction will be offered on Saturday in small groups. This will NOT be just basic rappelling down a 40 foot boulder such as at Venture Big Event Larger challenge activities will be included. Sunday Interfaith Worship Service This will be a non-denominational Scouting service.

6 GENERAL INFORMATION Uniforms Venture Scouts are encouraged to participate in Class A uniforms, or the uniform selected by their Venture units. Meals Four meals are provided. Saturday: Breakfast Egg Sandwich Lunch Sub Sandwich Dinner Pizza Sunday: Breakfast Muffins and fruit Dinner Friday night not provided. Bring food or eat before arrival. Units may supplement menu with drinks, treats, etc. Meals are social events, trading treats is encouraged. Parking Parking lot is available at the main gate of the Heard Pueblo, but NOT in overnight campsites. Latrines Latrines will be provided and utilized. They are the only appropriate location for human waste. FOR OVERNIGHT CAMPING Water Water is available at campsites. Trash Pack in Pack Out dumpsters not available Adult Leadership Two deep required in unit overnight camp Campfires allowed in established rings, bring your own wood
