Every member is welcome to attend or contact a board member to present ideas for consideration. This meeting s agenda includes membership numbers, field trips, education, and protection of sites, symposium committee assignments for St. George and 40 year recognition, and possible getting those inspired folks to share their thoughts on how URARA came to be. Possible projects for funding, where members can build structure to protect images, and document other locations so managers know of their existence. Web site upgrades, technology moves forward, so changes need to happen, so processes can connect and function properly. Renewing membership has caused a little anxiety for some members. The web site automatically sends out renewal requests, member s process their renewals by credit and status changes as soon as you press pay. Other members still pay by check (which is okay), but this way may take several weeks. These members will get a follow-up stating their membership has been closed. Once the mail gets to Salt Lake City and picked up, then forwarded to our Treasurer, she will renew your status. So if you know when your membership expires, and you don t want this process to keep you from signing up for field trips, send in a check a month before. The easiest way is to just pay by credit, with pay-pal or directly by credit card. Thanks again for your help the last two years, see you on the path, Steve January 2019

2 Lake Mountain Field Trip Dec 6-9 Lynn Benson, Steve Acerson The West Mountain fieldtrips were 4 days of snow, cold and cloud. Steve divided the two groups, taking half to Lake Mt and Lynn taking the other half to West Mountain. We took brooms with us to sweep snow, but fortunately didn t need them. We searched amongst many boulders at the shooting lane finding about 10 of the 14 there. At the north end there were two small sites; new member Bess happily found a new boulder-glyph there. We viewed the BYU cave site, a few other sites and even got to the 9 glyphs at the Kilgore mine site that URARA helped save. We visited the boulder that had been moved to the road. We shared the mountain with some shooters who serenaded us with machinegun fire. There was too much see in one day; there are more than 100 boulder-glyphs and a few small panels. The intent was to show the effects of shooting on Lake Mountain which had URARA members working for 20+ years trying to get protection for the images before they were lost or stolen, starting at a site that has been totally destroyed by shooters. 2 January 2019

5 Everyone agreed the field trip gave them a better understanding of the conditions, loss, and the lengthy process to get the protection of these non-replaceable cultural images.
