SWOP NEWS By Avery Horton U.S. COAST GUARD RESCUE U.S. Coast Guard 13th District Pacific Northwest 13th District Public Affairs COOS BAY, OR -- A Coast Guard aircrew medically evacuated a mariner reportedly suffering from seizures while aboard a vessel 10 miles north of Cape Blanco, Friday. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Sector North Bend medevac d the crewmember from the 36-foot vessel Lacie Belle and transported him to medical personnel at the Bay Area Hospital in Coos Bay. Watchstanders at Sector North Bend received a request for medical assistance from a Lacie Belle crewmember at 5:25 p.m. Boat crews from Coast Guard Station Coos Bay and Coast Guard Cutter Orcas diverted to the scene. The aircrew arrived on scene at 5:54 p.m., completed the hoist at 6:08 p.m., and transferred the U.S. Coast Guard Photo mariner at 6:28 p.m. to the hospital medical staff. SWING INTO SPRING MOTHER S DAY BRUNCH By Curry Fair Friends A free Mother s Day Brunch will be held May 13 at the Event Center on the Beach in Docia Sweet Hall. This year s theme is Swing into Spring. Brunch is prepared and served by Curry Fair Friends and features a full menu of breakfast and brunch items. A no host mimosa bar will be available. The fashion show is a highlight of the event with models from Rogue Resale, Lula Roe and Chic Boutique. Music and MC duties are provided by DJ Deb. Fashions, accessories, and gifts will be available for sale in pop-up booths by Chic Boutique and Lula Roe. The raffle is shaping up to be full of gifts and gift baskets from local merchants. Tickets are $1.00 each. Southwestern Oregon Preppers (SWOP) will be holding a meeting at 1 PM on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Advanced Health, 289 Laclair St, Coos Bay, OR Note time change - 1 PM! The main topic is "DISASTER SURVIVAL PLANNING WORKSHOPS FOR FAMILIES". This year SWOP will be conducting workshops during the meetings. Bring your plan to the workshop. If you do not have a plan to bring that is OK, you will have one to take home when you leave. Bring paper and pencil. Attend this workshop to help your family, whether large or small, survive a disaster. SWOP meetings always start with a question and answer period before the main topic so all in attendance get a chance to participate. This is a free public meeting to get to know fellow local preppers in southwestern Oregon counties and to exchange information and ideas. It is important for individuals to understand that they will be on their own in the event

Out of town sellers may reserve a site at either park and overnight camping is also available at Pioneer Park.
