BUSINESS ARISING FROM MINUTES OF AGM 2014 Nil COMMITTEE REPORTS FOR 2014/2015 PRESIDENT S REPORT Another twelve months has flown by hastened by much activity in the club through member activity and social interaction with fellow heritage motoring groups. A big thank you to Ian & Chris Holgate for organising and running of the Red Centre Tour and the events committee for some wonderful activities throughout the year. Meeting up with other clubs has really enhanced social interaction for our club and reinforced Heritage Motoring being about people and good fellowship. Thank you to the midweek run organisers as they take this run into a new phase by attracting members from other clubs. Also thanks to those who have participated in the social day and in particular helped with the parts yard clean-up which nears completion. Another successful June Rally that saw big changes to format which resulted in positive feedback from entrants, thanks Adrian & Moniek. To all workers and helpers on the June Rally a big thank you. Our club rooms have seen an increase in activity around the site due to building development in Morgan St. The upgrading of sewer lines caused some issues with concrete path breakage etc, however WWCC has this all sorted and we can resume our beautification of the front façade to our clubroom building. The new trophy and library cabinets are being manufactured and should be installed in the very near future, thanks to Wayne Clout for organising this. I commend the committee for the running of the club over the last twelve months and wish the new committee all the very best for the next year. Rob Le Lievre President TREASURER S REPORT Brian tabled the Annual Statement and talked us through it. It was moved by Brian Hanson and seconded by Ray Tarlinton that Brian Hanson be authorised to make the following statements to NSW Fair Trading in the Annual Summary of Financial Affairs : The Club s financial statements for the last financial year were presented to the members of the Club at the Annual General Meeting held on 7 August 2015, The particulars set out in the Annual Summary of Financial Affairs are correct and give a true and fair view of the financial matters to which they relate and are not misleading, and There are reasonable grounds to believe, at the date of this statement, that the Club will be able to pay its debts as and when they fall due. Motion carried unanimously. Brian Hanson Treasurer MAGAZINE EDITOR S REPORT The Editor s role continues to be twofold, publication of Reflection and updating the web site. An increasing number of other club s are forwarding their magazines by to reduce printing and postage costs. Our events director looks at these for coming events. Our club needs to consider its options also as postage is going to increase again. Thanks to Rocky for the majority of jokes submitted, and thanks to the Magazine team for the monthly printing duties. The web site continues to provide relevant information to members and other historic vehicle enthusiasts. The Club s library book list will be added soon. Use of the attendance form has dropped off. Members are encouraged to use it to assist the events director. Reflection is available in

4 colour on the web site, usually posted by the second Monday after the general meeting. The last 12 magazines can be found in Reflection, The Club Magazine and older copies can be found in Archives. The mowing roster, currently to December 2015 is available for members wishing to plan further ahead. I look forward to the new Editor coming up with some fresh ideas. Thanks again for your effort and support Ian Holgate Events Director MIDWEEK RUNS REPORT The Mid Week runs have been very well attended during the year. I have only got records since February, however, the attendance pattern had been much the same previously. A few members from Wagga CHACA have attended our runs and seem to enjoy the drives and social aspect of the afternoons. On average 15 people have attended with; 5 Vintage vehicles, 3 Post vintage, 3 Classic, 3 Modern. The runs have included observation of the Kapooka Rail Bridge construction site, visits to the Grange and the RAAF Heritage Centre. Sometimes the run just includes a short drive around town completing with the usual Coffee Shop afternoon tea. The Coffee Shops included Uranquinty Bakehouse, The Secret Garden (Gumly Gumly) and South Wagga Bakery, The South Wagga Bakery appearing to be the most popular. I would like to thank all those who have attended and hope they continue to support the Mid week runs for the coming year. Ray Tarlinton REGISTRATION OFFICER S REPORT With the assistance of the Rego day helpers we got through 39 vehicles and 4 motor cycles on the first rego day, which was held on the 26 th October, and 6 vehicles on the 22 nd of November. 3 vehicles and 1 motor cycle were rejected on their first check over and then passed on their 2 nd check, while another 5 vehicles were inspected during the year with 1 new registration, Ian Holgate s beautiful Gardiner. In total there were 50 vehicles and 4 motor cycles passed for conditional registration for the year. Thanks again to our rego day helpers for a smooth running rego day.

5 Yours in Vintage motoring, Gerald Rainbird RALLY DIRECTOR S REPORT I would like to start by thanking all my committee as we had another very successful rally. This year s rally numbers went close to 200 which is outstanding. We had a major change to the meals which saw us take the night meals to a local club which went off well with many positive comments from entrants. To maintain the rally being successful such changes need to be made with more changes needed in the coming years to take the workload off club members. With the same group of members doing core jobs for the rally it takes a lot of time over a 12 month period to make the rally happen and it does not take long before this core group are not enjoying their motoring hobby anymore. We need to be attracting new members to keep the club alive, not scare them off. My job was a lot easier this year in the advertising side of things due to the fact that we had a publicity officer to do this side of things. The rally gained a lot of publicity this year which showed in the crowd that was at Downside. Adrian Clout Rally Director 2015 PROPERTY AND LIBRARY OFFICER S REPORT The Clubrooms continued to be used for our monthly meetings and events plus mid week runs along with a variety of other functions during the year. We hosted both local & visiting clubs for dinners and luncheons during the year. Providing dinner for the Echuca Car Club Members in May was a great success along with the catering associated with the June Rally. Various charity related events were held during the year. Australia s Biggest Morning Tea supporting the Cancer Council and the Pedal Car Display supporting Country Hope are two that come to mind. We must not forget to thank our members for their efforts organizing and running the June Rally again. The proceeds from this rally also allowed our club to donate a substantial amount of money to both The Willans Hill School and the Wagga Wagga Volunteer Rescue Association (VRA). The Crow Club continued to use the Clubrooms on a weekly basis every Tuesday during the year, while The East-Enders Motorcycle Club used our facilities for their Annual Registration Day again. Committee members have spent a considerable amount of time over past months in an attempt to clean up our Library in readiness for our new storage and display cupboards that will be installed across the western wall of the main clubroom. Some magazines and other paperbacks were marked for disposal by the committee and placed in bundles for members to browse through and take away if they were interested in them. The magazines were also displayed in the clubrooms during our June Rally so they were open for visitors to take if they wished. The remainder will be taken to various swap meets hoping that someone may show some interest in them. A new electronic inventory of our Library has been created consisting of more than 250 books. This inventory will be available on our Website plus a disc and paper copy will be kept in the Library. We hope that members will browse through these listings and use the Library more to their advantage in the future. There certainly is a wealth of information in these books, which include: Owner s Manuals Repair and Workshop Manuals Parts Listings Technical Journals etc. History of various makes and models. The Key Register has been updated to the best of my knowledge. Looking at past records there appears to be an aged problem where keys appear to become misplaced from time to time. At the moment I cannot account for four out of a total of twenty keys. Key Nos. 8, 11, 12 and 14 are missing (20%) Could we ask that if you still hold a key and no longer have a need for it that you return it to the Property Officer please. At this stage we have no spare keys. Can we also ask that current key holders check the latest copy of the Key Register and indicate if the key number allocated to them is correct. This list will be passed around the room at the AGM. Eight new photographs of member s vehicles have been added to our photo display in the clubroom in recent months. We encourage all members to arrange for photos of their vehicles to be added to the display. All you have to do is supply an A4

6 size photo and we will supply the frames. A review of our Inventory for items in the clubroom and storage container is now overdue. Hopefully an electronic version can be completed in the near future. In December last year our clubrooms were broken into and some items stolen. The Police have recovered most of the items taken over past months and the culprit has been charged. Unfortunately this does highlight the fact that we should be starting to consider upgrading our security for the clubrooms in the very near future. Either a local alarm of a back to abase system should be considered. Ray Harrison Property and Library Officer /2015. PUBLICITY OFFICERS REPORT I was railroaded into this job and I feel that I have done it to the best of my ability, with some help from my mates. I had my first appointment with the press on Monday 1st of June, 2015 at 10.00am at our Clubrooms. This was a photo shoot for the Wagga Daily Advertiser for an article to be published in our local paper on the Friday the 5th of June, giving us maximum exposure for the start of our Rally on Saturday the 6th of June. Later that morning I organised for Prime T.V to come and interview three of our club members with their vintage cars, this was for the evening news and this also took place at the Club Rooms. I did this with some help from my mates. After this event I was told I would go well as the new Press Officer as I was "Bossy", and this was by those same mates. I was just trying to get the show on the road and so what if I was "Bossy" as I was on a mission. Darryl McGuire came to the Clubrooms on Saturday morning to start the rally by flagging the cars off as they set out for their first day of rallying. I had the local media attend every event, the Wagga Daily Advertiser, Prime T.V and Win T.V and this gave us many opportunities to advertise our Sunday event at Downside with a large array of vehicles on display, and with a record crowd in attendance. I now have a degree in schoozing to the press and any other organisation that I have needed to use to our own benefit. I have to say it would have been easier and far less stressful if the media would do as they are told by, "Bossy" me. I have enjoyed my time as your Press Officer. Can I please have my job back as I have now acquired many new skills and it would be beneficial to our Club if these skills were appreciated and then acted upon. But this just comes from "Bossy" me. 9 HISTORY OF WORDS & SAYINGS Continued from last edition of Reflection Facts about the 1500 s. Sometimes they could obtain pork, which made them feel quite special. When visitors came over they would hang up their bacon, to show off. It was a sign of wealth that a man could, "Bring home the bacon." They would cut off a little to share with guests and would all sit around talking and ''chew the fat''. Those with money had plates made of pewter. Food with high acid content caused some of the lead to leach onto the food, causing lead poisoning and death. This happened most often with tomatoes, so for the next 400 years or so, tomatoes were considered poisonous. Bread was divided according to status. Workers got the burnt bottom of the loaf, the family got the middle, and guests got the top, or ''The Upper Crust''. Lead cups were used to drink ale or whisky. The combination would sometimes knock the imbibers out for a couple of days. Someone walking along the road would take them for dead and prepare them for burial. They were laid out on the kitchen table for a couple of days and the family would gather around and eat and drink and wait and see if they would wake up. Hence the custom of ''Holding a Wake''. England is old and small and the local folks MOWING ROSTER 29 August Rob Le Lievre* David Sides 12 September Ian Holgate* Ray Harrison 26 September Stu Le Lievre* Peter Billingham 10 October Bob Maslin* Jeffery Ingram 24 October Brian Hanson* Tony Middleton * Denotes key holder. When reopening these coffins, 1 out of 25 coffins were found to have scratch marks on the inside and they realised they had been burying people alive. So they would tie a string on the wrist of the corpse, thread it through the coffin and up through the ground and tie it to a bell. Someone would have to sit out in the graveyard all night (the graveyard shift) to listen for the bell; thus someone could be, ''Saved by the Bell ''or was considered a ''Dead Ringer'' Sibling rivalry in the extreme.
