1 Vietwater 18 Join the Australian delegation proudly supported by 5-9 November 2018 Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

2 Invitation from the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Few countries around the world better exemplify the benefits of trade and investment liberalisation than Vietnam. Since 1990, Vietnam s average annual economic growth has been 5.5 per cent, among the highest in Asia Vietnam is now a middle-income country with a population of 92.7 million. It has invested heavily in education and skills, reinforcing its favourable demographics, including a median age of 30. Commentators judge Vietnam to be among the best placed of the emerging economies to escape the so-called middle income trap and follow a similar trajectory to the first Asian tigers such as Singapore, Korea and Taiwan. By mid-century, Vietnam is expected to be on the cusp of joining the world s top 20 economies. Craig Chittick Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Trade and investment liberalisation has been at the very centre of Vietnam s growth story. Twoway trade is equivalent to 185 per cent of Vietnam s GDP. Australia is well-placed to benefit from Vietnam s continuing rise. Vietnam is now our 15th largest trading partner, with two-way trade exceeding $10 billion and Australian investment in Vietnam is also growing. We see tremendous potential for Australian water business in Vietnam. The Government of Vietnam is committed to transform the water sector so that all people have access to clean water in their homes by To support this commitment Australia, through the new Aus4Water program, will support the Government of Vietnam to embrace new technological innovations and increase private sector engagement in rural water supply. It will help to showcase successful models so that these can be replicated across Vietnam. As demonstrated by the last three Australian delegations to Vietwater, there is strong demand for Australia s expertise and technological innovation in water supply, water quality, water asset management, network operation, climate change adaptation, and governance and regulation. The Australian water sector has a lot it can offer to Vietnam The time has come for Australia to take our relationship with one of Asia s most dynamic countries to a new level. I am looking forward to seeing the Australian delegation at Vietwater 18 and see this mission as a key platform in building a closer economic partnership between our two countries water sectors. I would encourage your participation on this trade mission which will provide a valuable opportunity to showcase Australia s capabilities, technical know-how and innovations. Invitation from the Australian Water Association Chief Executive There has been a recent shift in Australia s development co-operation in Vietnam, from a relationship based on aid to one that strengthens its focus on trade and investment, by helping to improve the business climate and expand the scope of opportunities for mutual benefit. The Australian Water Association, along with our project partners in Vietnam, are supporting this transition through a series of initiatives designed to showcase the depth and breadth of Australia s water expertise and technological innovations. The Association s role is to ensure that the expertise and experience of our members and the wider Australian water sector are profiled and positioned to play a key role in the fast-transitioning water sector in Vietnam. Jonathan McKeown Chief Executive, Australian Water Association The Australian delegations to Vietwater 15, Vietwater 16 and Vietwater 17 marked the largest Australian delegations to ever visit Vietnam including 245 Australian delegates from the private sector, government, R&D and water utilities in attendance. The Australian Water Association has also host the largest Vietnamese delegations to ever travel to Australia for Ozwater 16, Ozwater 17 and Ozwater 18, with a combined 193 delegates. The Australian delegation to Vietwater 18 will continue this momentum to build collaborative relationships, and strengthen trade and investment, by helping to improve the business climate and expand the scope of business opportunities for mutual benefit. Delegates participating in the Australian mission to Vietwater will be involved in a series of tailored events designed to connect you with the right people across the Vietnamese water sector. Delegates will have space in the Australian booth, meet with water leaders, NGOs, donor agencies, private sector companies and water utilities in a series of workshops, business meetings, site tours and networking events. We are proud to extend the invitation to individuals and organisations to participate in the Australian delegation to Vietwater 18 to showcase your water expertise and technological innovations. We look forward to meeting you at Vietwater 18. 2

The Australian Water Association has become the key partner in Australian aid programs to bring the newest and the best water treatment technologies to Vietnam. Craig Chittick, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam ANZ was privileged to be involved with the Australian delegation to the Vietwater conference in I was very impressed by the Australian Water Association s commitment to connecting delegates with opportunities in the Vietnamese water sector. The Australian Pavilion at the conference stood out and facilitated a high degree of engagement between exhibitors and visitors to the conference. Well done to the Association team! Andrew Lawrence, Regional Executive, Business Banking, ANZ Bank The success of the Vietnam program for our business was phenomenal. I base this on the level of business and interest to date but as importantly, the people organising the events. Great kudos goes to the staff at the Australian Water Association for their efforts before, during and after the event. Arthur Kokolekos, Regional Business Development Manager Asia Pacific, LuminUltra Overall great program. The Australian Water Association should continue to support and connect Australian businesses to the Vietnamese and South East Asia markets. Australian Water Partnership and Australian Government The event was extremely professionally run and well organised by the Australian Water Association. The booth position was also outstanding which led to many business opportunities. We came to Vietnam very green and with limited contacts. We now have a better understanding of the local market and opportunities moving forward.
