Contact: Scot Paton of Tooma, ph LAUGHTER THE BEST MEDICINE AN IRISHMAN'S FIRST DRINK WITH HIS SON While reading an article last night about fathers and sons, memories came flooding back to the time I took me son out for his first pint. Off we went to our local pub only two blocks from our house. I got him a Guinness. He didn't like it, so I drank it. Then I got him a Kilkenny's, he didn't like that either, so I drank it. Finally, I thought he might like some Harp Lager? He didn't. So I drank it. I thought maybe he'd like whiskey better than beer, so we tried a Jameson's nope! In desperation, I had him try that rare Redbreast, Ireland's finest. He wouldn't even smell it. What could I do but drink it! By the time I realized he just didn't like to drink, I was so drunk I could hardly push his stroller back home. Contributed by Rocky. HELP US SUPPORT THE BIGGEST MORNING TEA PLEASE BRING ALONG A PLATE AND MAKE A DONATION FOR THIS GREAT CAUSE. SUPPER WILL BE HELD AFTER THE MAY MEETING The Rainbirds have departed on their trip in their recently fitted out bus, a project they declared on Facebook to be 98% complete. LAUGHTER THE BEST MEDICINE AN IRISH TEXT MESSAGE Mary, I m at the pub just having one more pint with the boys. Ed s comment:: Yes I know; I should avoid politics and religion. Contributed by Rocky. If I m not home in 20 minutes, please read this message again. Contributed by Rocky. MID WEEK RUN 17 February 2016 This was our first run for the year. We had 15 people and 8 cars: 2 vintage, 1 classic, 1 commercial and 4 modern. The plan was to do a drive by observation of the Governors Hill development. We left the club rooms travelling via North Wagga, the new roundabout at Byrnes Rd Eunony Bridge, Tasman Rd/ Bakers Lane. However, all was well until we crossed the Hwy. Only 3 cars made it to Governors Hill. One went for petrol, another followed and got lost, 1 went to Forest Hill, another back to town, another wasn't sure. We who made it to GH decided we would just head back to SW Bakery. We got there and discovered all those who went missing found their way there quite ok so all was well again. Maybe the route pre briefing instructions weren't quite clear enough. Until next time, Ray T MIDWEEK RUN 16 March 2016 The run this month was to the Uranquinty Bakery and surprisingly nobody got lost or side tracked this time. The plan was to observe the progress of the Kapooka bridge development. Travelling south, the new railway overpass (bridge) was not very visible but more visible returning north, however the course of the new road is fairly obvious. The coffee, tea and cakes were at the bakery's usual best, the chit chat was at it's usual best too but had nothing to do with the bakery. We had a mix of vintage, post vintage, classic and modern vehicles and 12 in attendance - a good effort as some of the regulars were away on the Tassie tour; Geoff & Robyn Petts, David & Lorna Bredin, Grant McRae, Kim?? (CHACA), Geoff & Faye Thomas, Pam & self, David Sides and Clive Jones. It was good to see Clive after a long time. Until next time, Ray T

9 Ladies Page Sudoku 005 (Easy) The Tassie Trip The Tassie Devils have made it back safely to the North Island with many fond memories and stories. The scenery was so varied and beautiful and the roads were windy and steep, but I think most of us would have to agree that the amazing food was what kept us going and brought us together if not every day, very often. We experienced a beautiful fresh seafood, cheeses, chocolates, fudges, wines, whiskeys, pancakes, jams, sauces, raspberries, strawberries, honey, and not to forget, the famous Tasmanian apples, which were in abundance at road side stalls. The girls might have done a bit of shopping as well, but I don t think any of the ladies could have outdone the boys with their timber purchases and spare car parts that were stashed for the trip home. Sudoku 004 Solution It must be time to start planning the next adventure! An interesting fact Yarns Artwork in Silk in Deloraine Tasmania Yarns is a large scale community art project of quilted, soft sculpture silk panels, one for each season, drawing you into the landscapes and lifestyles of the Meander Valley people. Yarns was created by more than 300 community members using numerous hand working techniques. 1,000,000 stitches and 10,000 hours 200 square metres of silk and enough thread to circle the world several times.
