3 From Chairmen s Desk Dear Delegates, It gives us immense pleasure to invite you to first of its kind joint event by 5 branches of WIRC of ICAI. The tallest Region - WIRC of ICAI has entrusted the pleasant task of hosting Sub-Regional Conference - Gujarat, jointly by Bhavnagar, Bhuj, Gandhidham, Jamnagar and Rajkot branches thereof. Jamnagar is the destination chosen from amongst these five branches. We all Chairmen/Chairperson from these five branches from Saurashtra and Kutch share common vision and mission towards the outlook of the Profession. Thus, keeping in view the ground realities of small and medium sized branches and constituent members thereof, we have picked and chosen very relevant topics of Direct and Indirect Taxes, which are all pervasively applicable. Further, to deal with these chosen topics, only the Doyens of the Profession having Mastery Par-Excellence from various parts of the country are chosen to deliberate thereon. We trust, the combination of Topics and Faculties chosen for this SRC will be worthy of attending to and cherishing for. It is said that one has to pass through a very rigorous process of learning, un-learning and re-learning with a view to being able to sustainably maintain the qualification of Chartered Accountancy in a dignified manner. The changes in the Tax and Regulatory environment viz. Continuously marching Tax Laws, New Companies Act, New sets of Accounting Standards and New Indirect Tax Regime in the form of GST make a CA feel like Non-CA unless he re-commits and re-affirms his desire to continuously study like a student for the foreseeable future. In the wake of these very fast changes and emanating challenges, many of us have started developing a very convincing thought of choosing an area of practice as a field of expertise and stick to it. Thus, our profession is at the CrossRoads, where we may have to choose one of the roads for us where we feel little comfortable and secured. Profession at the CrossRoads is chosen to be the theme of this Sub-Regional Conference Gujarat. At this SRC, we will not only get the opportunity to re-brush our knowledge but will also get to meet and mingle amongst the delegates from the whole Gujarat and promote Fellowship and Networking opportunities, which again is the only avenue left for us aspiring to offer multiple services from multiple locations. There is no way but to create a common pool of shareable expertise for such aspirants. So, come join us at Jamnagar for a roller-coaster drive of learning, unlearning and re-learning and also explore the possibilities of growth through inorganic route.
