5 This is how they used to change the street light globes MIDWEEK RUN 15 February 2017 This was our first run for the year and included a drive straight out the highway to Forrest Hill to view the F111 permanently parked at the front of the RAAF Base. The Base personnel have done an excellent job of getting it there and installing the F111 in this position. It looks good floodlit at night, so if going past after dark have a look. Ten members and two visitors attended the run Hansons, Bredins, Tarlintons, Robyn Petts, David Sides, Chris Mooney, and Lawrie Taylor. Our visitors were Ken and Joan Motion (friends of Tarlintons). We had 2 vintage cars, 1 post vintage a 50 s commercial, and 3 modern. This was Lawrie s first midweek run in his newly restored and on the road Buick, I went passenger with Lawrie in the Buick and it went very well. We travelled back to town the back way from Forrest Hill via Elizabeth Ave, Inglewood Rd, over to Red Hill Rd to the Tolland Shopping Centre car park to a newly discovered Coffee Shop Country Bonsai / Café Garden Centre, formally Geales Nursery, plenty of room for parking and sitting. Mary, the owner was very accommodating and is keen to have us back there. She allowed Lawrie and Chris to park their Buicks down the centre of the undercover nursery and was most impressed with them. Mary indicated she would like to have a bigger public display day of vintage cars at the nursery (for discussion). This was a good run for the first for the year and I think all enjoyed it. However, look forward to your suggestions for the next one, and the ones after that. Until next time RayT Page 5
