6 Peranakan Trail Join us on a colourful journey into the history, lifestyle and unique character of the Peranakan Babas (the men) and Nonyas (the women). Take a walk through the Spice Garden which sits on the original site of the first Botanic Gardens and uncover the intricacies of spices and herbs that go into Peranakan cooking. A fascinating Display of Peranakan costume, embroidery, beadwork, jewellery, porcelain, furniture and craftwork provides insight into the captivating culture of the Peranakans. Wander through the bustling enclaves of Katong & Joo Chiat that showcases the rich and baroque Peranakan architecture. Admire rows of colourful traditional shophouses that dates back to the 1920s and 1930s. A sampling of Nonya Delicacies will complete the trail.

Dating back to 1860, the gardens feature a herbarium, frangipanis and the kind of rainforest jungle that once covered the island. Dotted in-between are sculptures, a bandstand, fountains and a visitor center. You ll also find the National Orchid Garden here, with both tropical and cooler-climate varieties providing bursts of exotic color. National Gallery of Singapore National Gallery Singapore is a new visual arts institution which oversees the largest public collection of modern art in Singapore and Southeast Asia. The Gallery is housed in two national monuments former Supreme Court and City Hall that have been beautifully restored and transformed into this exciting venue in the heart of the Civic District. Reflecting Singapore s unique heritage and geographical location, the Gallery will feature Singapore and Southeast Asian art in its long-term and special exhibitions. It will also work with leading museums worldwide to copresent Southeast Asian art in a wider context, positioning Singapore as a regional and international hub for the visual arts.

8 Thian Hock Keng Temple (C) / Sri Mariamman Temple (I) / Masjid Sultan (M) Originally completed in 1842, Thian Hock Keng is one of the oldest Hokkien temple in Singapore. Thian Hock Keng Temple is built in Southern Chinese temple architecture style. No nails are used in the construction of the temple. / The Sri Mariamman Temple, founded in 1827 by Naraina Pillai, eight years after the East India Company established a trading settlement in Singapore is Singapore's oldest Hindu temple. It is an agamic temple, built in the Dravidian style. / Masjid Sultan or Sultan Mosque, is a mosque located at Muscat Street and North Bridge Road within the Kampong Glam precinct of the district of Rochor in Singapore.
