2 Dear Friends, On behalf of our guest families who call our House their home away from home, we thank you for your past support, and your continued support of the 2009 Red Tie Gala presented by PNC. Your donation allowed us to serve nearly 700 families last year: parents and siblings, caught up in the most stressful times of their lives, who sought rest and comfort while their loved one received medical treatment. Ronald McDonald House raises the majority of its own funding. Our partnerships with McDonald s and Cincinnati Children s Hospital Medical Center are strong and invaluable. But neither organization owns or fully funds our operations. In fact, we raise 90% of our own $2 million operating budget through events such as the Red Tie Gala. Your contribution will have a profound impact on the health and well-being of seriously ill children and their families. The need is growing at Cincinnati Children s. CCHMC is growing at an unprecedented rate. And so are the demands for supportive housing at Cincinnati s Ronald McDonald House. To help us keep pace with this growth, Cincinnati Children s has invested $7 million in a 30-room expansion scheduled to open in April This boosts our capacity over 60%, but it also creates a pressing need for increased operating funds to care for an additional 30 families each night. With your help, the Red Tie Gala can see us through tough times. As we have over the past 26 years, we fully embrace our growth and any challenge that comes our way. Given our expanded reach and the state of the U.S. economy, your contribution, community leadership and inspiration to the Red Tie Gala is more important than ever.
