DFID Project Development of pro poor Qualification Packs (QPs) Under the pro poor Qualification Packs project of DFIF; FFSC is developing 20 new QPs. Following 12 QPs were submitted to NSDC for the approval of Qualification Review Committee (QRC) Meeting. S.NO. 5 Karjee Eduventures Samstipur, Odisha 22 Brainware Consultancy Pvt Ltd Barasat, Kolkata 13 Damini Infotech Kurushetra, Haryana 34 Lala Kundan Lal Memorial Society Fatehabad, Haryana 19 Possit Ranchi, Jharkhand 16 Meyur Chennai,Tamil Nadu 48 Total Skill Development Training Under the CSR project of ITPO through NBCFDC Furniture & Fittings Skill Council (FFSC) is skilling 64 candidates in the job role of Carpenter- Wooden Furniture with the financial support from Indian Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and National Backward Classes Finance & Development Corporation (NBCFDC). Furniture & Fittings Skill Council (FFSC) is implementing the project through its two affiliated training partners (Lala Kundan Lal Memorial Society & T S Skill & Tech Pvt Ltd). At Loni, Uttar Pradesh 32 candidates are undergoing training by T S Skill & Tech Pvt Ltd and at Fatehabad, Haryana rest 32 candidates are being skilled by Lala Kundan Lal Memorial Society. The trainings were started on 25 th July 2016 and 1 st August 2016 at Loni and Fatehabad respectively. By 31 st October 2016 the trainings will be completed and then the assessments and certification will be done by FFSC. 5

6 The candidates will take 308 hours of training in three months. The total practical and theory duration are 172 and 136 hours respectively. The candidates were given books developed by FFSC of Carpenter- Wooden Furniture for reference. One tool kit comprising Saw, Hammer, Chisel, Measuring Tape, Jack Plane, Spirit Level, Oil Stone, Screw Driver, Pencil etc will be distributed to the candidates after completion of the training. 6. Skill Development Training Through NBCFDC FFSC has been allotted numbers by NBCFDC for the skill development training of Other Backward Classes in the job roles of Carpenter- wooden furniture and Fitter- Modular Furniture. FFSC is doing the both fresh training and RPL in these two job roles. The training will be imparted to the OBC candidates who belong to the double the poverty line of income. Bihar, Tripura, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. The Centres will enhance youth aspirations and livelihood in the surrounding areas. It will help in reducing the gap between demand and supply of skilled manpower in India in this segment. The space requirement for a skill excellence centre will be minimum 3000 sq. Ft. The Skill Lab will have the standard machine tools of Festool, Bessey, Jai Modula and SCM for training purposes. These machines will provide the top quality output in the shortest possible time and will be ideal for the trainees to gain exposure in modern technology of the International standards. The trainees will be skilled about Zero Defect for getting best results, Safety of Manpower, Machines, Raw Material & Healthy Environment. The focus will be mainly on The modular furniture assembling and standardization of the content. The proposed Skill centre will also be used as a venue for Training of the Trainers. 9 8. Iconic Centre- Hettich Poddar Woodworking Institute Hettich India Pvt. Ltd. a Joint Venture between Hettich Group, Germany and the Saroj Poddar Group, has set up an Iconic Center for furniture & fittings domain. The centre is going to be inaugurated in November 2016 by Mr Rajiv Pratap Rudy Honorable Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The centre has built in area of 10,000 sq ft. It will be the first of its kind of center where all the modern tools & equipment required for the training is available. The centre will also be used for Training of Trainers and training of fresh candidates. 9. Skill India Competition FFSC has organised South Zone and North Zone regional competition on 14 th to 16 th October at Calicut and New Delhi respectively. In South India 20 students from different ITIs participated, out of which 7 candidates were shortlisted for doing the test project of Cabinet Making. In North India 15 students participated out of which 7 were selected for making the test project. From each zone four students were finally selected to contest in November India Skill Competition. Out of these eight candidates one or two best candidate will be finalised to compete in World Skill Competition, Abu Dhabi,
