3 Naming of Prof. John Evans Atta Mills On September 30, 2015, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, a newly converted FPSO, was officially christened by Lady Sponsor, Her Excellency Mrs Lordina Mahama, First Lady of the Republic of Ghana. AROUND THE YARDS The ceremony, at Sembcorp Marine Tanjong Kling Yard, was attended by senior government ministers from Ghana, as well as senior management from MODEC Offshore Production Systems (Singapore), Tullow Oil and other companies involved in the project. Sembcorp Marine completed the repair, life extension and conversion of Prof. John Evans Atta Mills from a VLCC into an FPSO as part of the TEN Development Project. This marked a grand total of 22 conversion and upgrading projects for FPSOs and floaters that Sembcorp Marine has completed for regular customer MODEC. Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, a newly converted FPSO for Tullow Oil The TEN FPSO has a capacity of production and treatment of 80,000 bpd of crude oil, 65,000 bpd of produced water, and 180 MMscfd of gas, with an onboard storage capacity of 1.7 million barrels. The facility will also provide 132,000 bpd of filtered, de-aerated seawater. VIPs and guests touring the FPSO Billion Dollar Contract from Heerema Following the signing of an exclusive letter-ofintent in March 2015, Sembcorp Marine secured a US$1 billion Engineering and Construction contract with Heerema Offshore Services B.V. (HOS) to build a DP3 new semi-submersible crane vessel (NSCV) on July 15, Scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2018, the NSCV is designed for the installation and decommissioning of major offshore facilities world-wide. It will be equipped with two Huisman heavy-lifting offshore cranes of 10,000 MT lifting capacity each and a large reinforced work deck area. The 273,700 MT NSCV measuring 220m x 102m, will be the largest dualfuel semi-submersible crane vessel Marking the start of a strong partnership: Mr Jan Pieter Klaver, CEO of Heerema Marine Contractors and Sembcorp Marine Head of Rigs & floaters, Mr William Gu in the world. It will be built at the Sembcorp Marine Tuas Boulevard Yard Phase II offshore drydock, which measures 255 metres in length and 110 metres in width. We are thankful and pleased that HOS has placed their trust and confidence in Sembcorp Marine to deliver the world s largest heavy lift vessel. With our new facilities at Tuas Boulevard Yard that boost deeper quayside draft and wider dock space, we are confident that we will be able to meet our customers' expectations. This aligns with our strategic vision to penetrate the deep water draft market segment and serves as a testimony to our continuous commitment in providing one-stop, tailor-made solutions to our customers. 4 AROUND THE YARDS Two Major Contracts Secured for Culzean Field Development Offshore Platforms Secures US$1 Billion EPC Contract with Maersk Sembcorp Marine Offshore Platforms secured a US$1 billion contract with Maersk Oil North Sea UK in September to build three topsides for their Culzean field development. Sembcorp Marine will provide the engineering, procurement and construction for the EPC contract, with core fabrication works done in the Admiralty Yard. Working alongside its Singapore counterpart, Sembmarine SLP in Lowesoft, UK, will undertake work for a power generation module, two bridges and a flare. Located East of Aberdeen in the UK North Sea, the Culzean gas field is expected to meet around 5 per cent of the UK s gas demand in 2020/21. Artist s impression of three topsides for the Culzean field development Rigs & Floaters FSO Contract with MODEC In November 2015, Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters was awarded its first newbuild FSO, secured on a full turnkey project basis with repeat customer, MODEC. The FSO will be built using facilities at Tuas Boulevard Yard, where Sembcorp Marine is involved in the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) of the project. MODEC will supply the internal turret and topside modules which Sembcorp Marine will install and integrate. When completed in the first quarter of 2018, the FSO unit will be deployed at Maersk Oil s Culzean field the largest new oil and gas field to be discovered in the UK North Sea in a decade. 5 Setting New Industry Records for Vessel Repairs Highest Number of LNG Ship Repairs & Upgrades 2015 was an exceptional year for Sembcorp Marine Repairs & Upgrades. The Group rewrote its own industry record for the highest number of LNG vessel repair and upgrade projects in a single year. With 34 such projects in the global market, the company tops the list compiled by the Ship and Offshore Repair Journal for the fourth consecutive year. Sembcorp Marine s customers included Shell International LNG Supply, Chevron Shipping and Teekay Gas Services. In 2014, Sembcorp Marine repaired and upgraded 32 LNG vessels, up from 27 in the previous year. We are very privileged to work with leading LNG ship owners and operators who, over the years, have put their faith in our holistic solutions, integrated facilities and dedicated project teams. The concurrent drydocking of the two cruise vessels at the same shipyard was a first for its operator P&O Cruises (Australia), a long-term partner of Sembcorp Marine. With the sailaway of Pacific Aria in November 2015, the Group set a record of 12 cruise ships repaired, upgraded and refurbished in a single year. 7 Opening of Hull Workshop On November 3, 2015, Sembcorp Marine launched its new state-of-the-art steel structure fabrication workshop the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. SCM NEWS The 120,000 sqm facility operates with a streamlined process that optimises production efficiency and reduces man-hours and production time to half of previous process requirements for every tonne of steel fabricated. Ergonomically designed to facilitate a seamless work flow, the workshop comprises five bays for pretreatment, cutting and assembly. Housed in Phase II of the Sembcorp Marine Tuas Boulevard Yard, the facility will be the central kitchen for steel fabrication. 8 SCM NEWS WSH Awards 2015 Sembcorp Marine s yards continued to demonstrate excellence and commitment to workplace safety and health (WSH) by clinching a total of 29 honours at the 2015 WSH Awards. The annual WSH Awards celebrates the best in workplace safety and health; and recognises companies and individuals for their commitment and outstanding performance in WSH. Sembcorp Marine was amongst the honorees at the awards gala dinner, held at Resorts World Sentosa on July 29 and officiated by Minister for Manpower, Mr Lim Swee Say. These national level awards recognise various categories of WSH personnel and companies with innovative WSH solutions and excellent WSH performance. The WSH Performance Award lauds organisations that have performed well in WSH through the implementation of sound safety and health management systems or processes. The WSH Innovation Award is presented for efforts in providing innovative solutions to help improve safety and health standards in the workplace. The WSH Supervisor Award serves to honour supervisors who take care of workers under their charge by improving the safety and health performance in their workplaces. 9 Outstanding HSE Performer In November, Sembcorp Marine bagged the Outstanding Health, Safety and Environment Performance Award from Shell. 10 SCM NEWS OTC Houston 2015 Sembcorp Marine showcased its capabilities as a leader in integrated offshore and marine engineering solutions at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) The annual event was held in Houston, USA, from May 4 to 7 at NRG Park. OTC is the world's foremost event for the development of offshore resources and showcases leading-edge technology for offshore drilling, exploration, production and environmental protection. In 2015, almost 95,000 attendees from 130 countries gathered at the conference to participate in panel sessions as well as keynote and technical paper presentations. Speakers from international oil companies, governments and academic institutions presented views on salient topics including future industry directions, operational integrity and risk management. Almost half of this edition s exhibitors were from international companies. 11 Nor-Shipping 2015 Sembcorp Marine further strengthened its international profile and business networks at Nor-Shipping 2015 from June 2 to 5, in Oslo, Norway. SCM NEWS Over 32,000 delegates and visitors from approximately 80 countries attended the 50th edition of Nor-Shipping, which had over 990 exhibiting companies and 20 national pavilions. The leading maritime event is a biennial weeklong exhibition and conference that provides the platform for the maritime world to explore forward-thinking initiatives. It showcases the latest and best in maritime technology, services and solutions; attracting the international maritime industry to Oslo. Minister for Transport, Mr Lui Tuck Yew (centre), opening the Singapore Pavilion Sembcorp Marine was part of the Singapore Pavilion comprising 13 Singapore-based companies led by the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) and the Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI). The company hosted Singapore s Minister for Transport, Mr Lui Tuck Yew, and other distinguished visitors at the booth, which showcased its capabilities and facilities. On June 3 and 4, Sembcorp Marine hosted its customers and business partners at dinner and lunch receptions respectively, where the company provided insights into its future plans and developments. Sembcorp Marine was a main sponsor of the SMF-organised Singapore Nite, held on June 3, at the Hotel Continental. Among the luminaries present were Minister Lui and shipping magnate Mr John Fredriksen. 12 SCM NEWS Gastech 2015 In October, Sembcorp Marine participated in the 28th edition of Gastech, the world s largest global gas and LNG event. Held from October 27 to 30 at the Singapore EXPO, the leading oil and gas event was a meeting place for energy professionals across the globe. The conference and exhibition attracted 15,181 visitors and delegates across 49 countries. Sembcorp Marine had a strong presence on home ground, showcasing its four key capabilities, its new Sembcorp Marine Tuas Boulevard Yard, as well as its latest innovation expertise. At the exhibition, Sembcorp Marine representatives kept themselves up-to-date with the latest market trends and technologies while promoting the Sembcorp Marine brand to industry partners and customers. 13 Conclusion of EJA Dredging Activities Dredging activities in Sembcorp Marine s yard in Brazil, Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA), were completed in August SCM NEWS During the dredging work, about 8.5 million cubic metres of material were moved to disposal locations that were chosen with consideration for the region's fishing community and in accordance with the environmental licensing agency. Among these locations was a special marine area wherein a marine organism reproduction area was specially created. All these served to bring social, ecological and infrastructural development to the community in the influenced areas. Dredging at EJA EJA at MEC Show 2015 Estaleiro Jurong Aracruz (EJA) participated in the 8th Metal-mechanics, Energy and Automation (MEC) Show held from July 28 to 31, 2015, at the Carapina Centro de Eventos in Vitória, Brazil. EJA showcased its capabilities at the exhibition and participated in business roundtable discussions organized by Sebrae, a governmental agency for the development of small business in Brazil. EJA s Business Development Manager, Mr Cicero Grams, also made a presentation at the 4th Oil, Gas and Naval Industry Conference. This year, the MEC Show saw 17,800 visitors and 180 exhibitors in attendance. Held annually in the state of Espírito Santo, the fair is an important metal mechanics hub for the country. The MEC show brings together the latest technology in machinery, equipment and services as well as suppliers and buyers from the industry. 14 HAPPENINGS Celebrating SG50 On the 50th anniversary of Singapore s independence, Sembcorp Marine was once again a proud participant and sponsor of this special edition of the National Day Parade (NDP). This year s NDP took place at the Padang, a site of significance given its use as the location of Singapore s very first NDP 50 years ago. Participating as a joint contingent with Sembcorp Marine s parent company, Sembcorp Industries, the participants hard work and dedication paid off with their well-synchronised marching in front of thousands of spectators. The contingent was led by Contingent Commander Yam Ah Mee, Managing Director of Sembcorp Design & Construction, and Deputy Commander, Connie Lim, Vice President of Finance at Sembcorp Marine. 15 Sembcorp Marine SG50 Activities Sembcorp Marine a Part of Singapore s Economic Miracles HAPPENINGS As part of SPRING Singapore's SG50 activities, Sembcorp Marine was invited to participate in the travelling Singapore s Economic Miracles exhibition organised by SPRING Singapore, which showcases Singapore's economic development story. Held from August 11 to September 13, the exhibition was launched by Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister for Social and Family Development at its first location in Vivocity, before travelling to Changi Airport and Capitol Piazza. Economic Miracles aimed to capture the entrepreneurial spirit and contributions of local organisations like Sembcorp Marine. 16 HAPPENINGS SchoolBAG 2015 Sembcorp Marine marked the 15th anniversary of its School Book Assistance Grant (SchoolBAG) programme, with $256,000 going to 1,250 primary, secondary and junior college students in Student recipients of the 2015 SchoolBAG grants with Minister for Social and Family Development Mr Tan Chuan-Jin Over 17,500 students have benefited from SchoolBAG since The grants help subsidise the students school expenses or enrichment programmes. Minister for Social and Family Development Mr Tan Chuan-Jin awarded cheques to the recipients from 85 schools at the presentation ceremony in Yishun Town Secondary School. Minister Tan said: I would like to thank Sembcorp Marine for initiating and continuing with the SchoolBAG programme for the past 15 years. Such Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives are slowly helping to transform our society bit by bit. The SchoolBAG programme is based on our recognition of education as a pillar of community development and nation-building. We hope to lighten the financial burden of a group of needy students so that they can focus better on their studies and build a brighter future for themselves, their families and the nation.
