4 VHEMI INC: A not-for-profit, charitable foundation created for the purpose of protecting, preserving, developing and promoting the cultural, heritage and environmental legacy of Ministers Island. Focused on achieving greater tourism impact through building synergies and working relationships with the broader tourism community in New Brunswick. 4

6 VHEMI STARTING POINT & GOALS: Our focus has to be on long-term financial sustainability. We need to increase tourism and economic benefits. Goal is to restore heritage structures while introducing a wide range of product innovations which are in keeping with heritage values. We can achieve sustainability through different revenue generating and partnering approaches to tourism product development. 6

12 THE ECONOMIC IMPACT: The VHEMI business plan will significantly contribute to New Brunswick s Bay of Fundy tourism destination strategy and will generate new levels of direct and indirect spending and local, municipal, provincial and federal tourism receipts. It will create important new jobs in various disciplines: Design Planning Construction Development Suppliers Ongoing Operational Management Administrative Support Guiding and Interpretation Food & Beverage Management Service Personnel Retail Housekeeping Maintenance Security Woodlot Management Agricultural Development Sales and Marketing Goods and Services
13 THE ECONOMIC IMPACT: It is estimated that the project will: Generate payroll totaling $1.2 million in year one of full operation, growing to approximately $1.3 million by year three. Create Full Time Equivalent (FTE) jobs totaling between 36 and 40 in year one, growing to approximately by year three. When fully implemented the operation is projected to generate in excess of $500,000 annually which will be directed towards on-going building restoration, maintenance, tourism product development and community support projects. 13
