1 A COLLABORATIVE NATIONAL DIALOGUE ON AND THE CONTRIBUTION OF TOURISM TO CANADA S SUSTAINABLE FUTURE VICTORIA, BC JANUARY 21-24, 2018 PROGRAM IMPACT Sustainability Travel & Tourism 2018 will take place at the Victoria Conference Centre from January 21-24, Sessions will explore climate change, technology, transportation, Indigenous culture, policy, local labour markets and new tourism trends and experiences. Themes include innovation, prosperity, conservation, culture and partnership. Co-Chaired by Keith Henry, CEO of Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada and Dr. Rachel Dodds, Professor at the Ted Rogers School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Ryerson University. IMPACT Sustainability Travel & Tourism 2018 is presented in partnership between Tourism Victoria, Synergy Enterprises, Beattie Tartan Integrated Communications and Starrboard Enterprises. 2 DAY 0 - SUNDAY, JANUARY 21 POLICY IN ACTION TOURS (OPTIONAL) CHOOSE FROM ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: $99 CDN PER PERSON Learn from Victoria s efforts and errors. Meet with CEO s, policy makers and entrepreneurs who have tackled the challenges of sustainability head on, often with surprising results. MARINE TRANSPORTATION HOSPITALITY Explore how culture, business and nature work together in Victoria s Harbour. Sail onboard the Forever Wild vessel and learn from the Songhees First Nation how they are leveraging their rich history to create a burgeoning tourism business. Lunch provided by Songhees Catering Co. Drive electric cars hosted by the EV Club of Victoria. Fly with 100% carbon neutral Harbour Air Seaplanes and finish with learning about the city s network of cycling lanes. Lunch provided by Pizzeria Prima Strada. Travel by CVS s electric bus to tour an attraction that breeds sustainability, literally! Tour The Parkside Hotel & Spa (built to LEED standard but still found room for improvement), and finish with a local craft beer while learning about Canoe Brewpub s commitment to sustainable business practices. Lunch provided by Truffles Catering. If our Policy In Action tours were sold out before you had a chance to register you will have an opportunity to interact and learn about the challenges and mitigation strategies employed by these committed, future thinking business leaders in our community. Enjoy a selection of tasting bites by a local, sustainable catering company, Truffles Catering. The evening will be enhanced with libations provided by a local craft brewery, cidery and winery whose goal is to create their product using best practices in farming, production and distribution.

A discussion paper summarizing the dialogue will be produced post-conference and shared across the nation.
