Some passes include day tour sectors with Great Sights, New Zealand s premier sightseeing company. Flexibility. With daily departures nationwide, you ll have all the flexibility to jump on and off any pass when and wherever you please. Modern vehicles. Northland / Auckland :: Cape Reinga - according to Maori legend, this is the place where spirits depart on their journey back to their homeland Hawaiki. :: Bay of Islands (Paihia) - the birthplace of the nation. 7 MUST SEE ATTRACTIONS Deep fiords, sparkling glaciers, breathtaking national parks, vibrant alpine towns and stately English cities. Upper South Island :: Nelson - a pocket of paradise in the top northwest corner of the South Island. Take your pick from the many outdoor adventure activities in the region including sea kayaking in the famous Able Tasman National Park, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, mountain biking, sailing, horse trekking or swimming with seals. :: Blenheim - situated in the heart of wine-growing Marlborough, it is one of the sunniest towns in New Zealand, with an estimated average of 2,438 hours of sunshine a year! :: Westport - first a gold town in the1860 s and then a coal town, a number of museums in the town provide a glimpse of what it s like to work underground and provide a fascinating insight into the region s turbulent past. The seal colony nearby at Cape Foulwind is also a must see. :: Punakaiki - the closest town to the amazing Pancake Rocks and accompanying blowholes. The rocks are the result of a layering of limestone and weathering process. Catch the blowholes during high tide for the best action! :: Greymouth - The Shantytown museum is a great place to appreciate the rich local history of gold mining. Greymouth is also famous for the great beer boycott of 1947 when the price of beer was raised by hotels in the area. The standoff between locals and hoteliers lasted four-and-a-half months before the hotel keepers capitulated and the price returned to normal. For the short term at least. :: Hokitika - a small friendly town sandwiched between surf & river, only 20km from the mighty Southern Alps. Hokitika s icon event is the Wildfoods Festival, which is held at the end of summer and features delicacies such as goat testicles, possum pies and huhu grubs! :: Christchurch - in 1850 the first English ships arrived in Christchurch. Their legacy lives on in the city s grand heritage buildings and stately parks. Today the city offers an entertaining mixture of refined lifestyle and cultural excitement. Lower South Island :: Franz Josef / Fox Glacier - Amidst the greenery and lushness of the temperate rainforest, these glaciers are easily accessible on a guided ice walk or heli-hike. :: Queenstown - the resort town of Queenstown is sophisticated and stunningly scenic. Its lake and mountain landscape is an adventure playground for numerous adventure activities. :: Milford Sound - A truly breathtaking sight and one of New Zealand s most iconic natural wonders. If you ve found a place you like the look of or a job for a few weeks, as long as it s a registered stop within our network you can pause your pass anytime within the validity of the pass. 04 How long are passes valid for? All Travelpasses are valid for 12 months from the date of activation. Activation occurs once travel has been booked against the pass. 05 Can I book travel outside of my pass? Yes! InterCity s national network is bound to have a service that fits your travel plans. Just give us a call. Extra travel is at an additional cost. 06 What s included in my pass? Coach transport and commentary on selected services. All national passes include a one way journey on the Interislander Ferry between Wellington and Picton. Purchase of an InterCity TravelpassTM does not assure you a seat until you use it to make a reservation. Without using your pass to make a prior reservation a seat is not guaranteed. Coach sector reservations must be made at least 2 hours prior to travel. During peak travel periods we recommend booking further in advance to avoid disappointment. 2. Cook Strait crossings, Milford Sound cruises and the Cape Reinga day trip are only included in passes where noted. We only hold limited seat allocations on specific sailings/departures and bookings must be made at least 26 hours in advance of the desired travel date. Sector reservations using your pass may be made free of charge by contacting the InterCity National Contact Centre. 4. InterCity TravelpassTM is valid for twelve months from the first date of travel. 5. Each pass has a specific set of valid coach services based on the routes and regions included. Alternative routes using other services is not permitted. 6. Only InterCity Coachlines, Newmans Coach Lines and Northliner Express coach services are included with the exception of sectors where noted that are operated instead by Great Sights. Private operator services are not included. 7. Backtracking is not allowed except for the return leg between Milford Sound and Queenstown, Mt Cook or Paihia and Auckland as stated within those pass descriptions. 8. Travel may not be repeated along any sector. 9. InterCity TravelpassTM is not transferable and cannot be extended. 10. InterCity TravelPassTM is non-refundable once travel has commenced. 11. InterCity agents may charge a $3.00 booking fee per sector booked using your pass (this does not apply to the initial sale of the pass). 12.
